Rabbits in the Garden Page 22

by Jessica McHugh

“Today, the body of twenty-two year old Olive Reardon was uncovered from alongside route 128 to Boston, not far from where her car was found over three months ago. Although originally labeled an accident, it has now been determined a homicide due to the victim's injuries.”

“Do you have any suspects, Officer O'Malley?” the correspondent asked.

“Not yet, but we believe the murder occurred around the time of the Taunton Hospital fire when several patients escaped from the asylum, including convicted murderer Avery Norton, who is still at large.”

Avery switched off the television, and with her eyes fixed on the daughter to whom she would deny nothing, she decided that, perhaps, some things were better off being denied.
