“Jayce said it was an hour after you had gone out. Zander walked into the kitchen and wanted to see Layke, but he was at work, as were Lacy and River. Eber called them home and I arrived soon after that. I’m going to grab a shower and some rest. Congrats on your mating.”
Vicus heard the deep anguish and genuine truth in Vinn’s words. Once inside he took Ran to their suite and quietly and calmly told his mate that Mikkos Milton had been killed by a member of his inner circle because of the crimes he committed against the pack when he was a Beta. Ran sat still and quiet for some time, Vicus using their mind link to know what his mate was thinking and feeling.
Shocked. Numb. Not sure what to do. Ran hurt for the brother he had once known when they were kids, he hurt for that loss, not the brother Mikkos had become. And it was for the child Mikkos had been that Ran cried over. Vicus held and comforted his mate. Hopefully now this would be over, nothing more to come along and hurt Ran. His sweet, stoic wolf dealt with it. He cried, talked a little of the child Mikkos had been before he became a Beta, but most memories of his brother weren’t great, their age difference meaning Mikkos was soon a teenager and growing into a Beta, dismissing Ran and others he felt beneath him. Ran had dealt with that mostly, there would always be a few emotional scars.
Deakin arrived home early, coming in with a bag containing a meatball subs and a six-pack of beer. The sprite mate felt Ran’s upset over their mating link and came home.
“Now this doesn’t mean you can have beer and meatball subs every lunch time, got it.” Deakin fussed, petting their mate who was wolfing down the meatball sub and slurping beer from the can. “Just today. Tomorrow it’s back to healthy eating.”
Vicus peaked into the bag and pulled out a very healthy looking bagel with cheese and salad and handed that to Deakin, taking the other meatball sub for himself. Leaning over he kissed first Ran’s cheek, then Deakin’s.
He had his mates, he had his family and friends, and the residents of Milson Valley to care for. Vicus couldn’t need anything more.

I spent years living in London, UK, working and travelling, which provided so much inspiration through history, culture, and life in general. I love to travel and have lots of plans to do so again in the future.
In the meantime, I bring my worlds to life.
The world of the paranormal mixed with love and action—how the men react and live, defend and care—captures my attention and has me wanting to fill pages with their adventures.
