“Well, Kristie stumbled upon the pregnancy test when she was staying with us a few months back.” I looked over to Kristie’s beaming face and asked, “Do you want to tell her the good news too?”
Kristie cleared her throat, “Well, it’s not as exciting as a having a baby, but it looks like I’m moving back to Cali, baby!”
“You are?!” Dana grabbed the laptop and faced it in her direction.
“I am. Baby mama over there got me an interview at JPL. You’re looking at the new flight systems director for the Jupiter mission.” Dana beamed wide as the tears started to fill her eyes.
“My family is going to be a hot four hour flight away! How did I get so lucky?”
I stood up as I moved toward Dana, kissing her cheek and hugging her. And then, I felt strong arms encircle my waist as Taylor moved behind me, placing a hand over my stomach.
“I love you.” she said, softly. I smiled wide as I took in my family, sitting our kitchen, talking about the future.
I was happy. So very happy.
