Alpha Shifter Bride Service: (A Paranormal Romance Series) Page 36

by Serena Meadows

The worst of it was that he had to pull all of it together and pretend like his insides weren’t fighting like they were. He was expected to act like none of it bothered him.

The one thing he had to be thankful for was that the water was deep and dark and he was able to hide most of his frustrations. There were a few moments when Jessica was very close to him that he was truly bothered. Frustratingly, she didn't even seem to realize what she was doing. Instead, she kept smiling at him in the most innocent of ways. Finally, he told her that she was surely trying to drive him crazy.

  “What are you talking about?”

“You. You have to know what you're doing to me.”

She looked back at Emily, who was drying herself on the heated sand at the side of the water. She was not going to hear them.

“I really don't know what you're talking about, Trevor. I thought that we were just here to have fun. Are you not having fun?”

“How can I have fun when the one thing I want, I can't have?”

She got a little closer to him for a moment and asked him what it was that he wanted.

“Are you really going to act like you don't know? I know that you may be innocent, but you have to know how you affect people. There is no way that you don’t know.”

Trevor almost immediately regretted his words. She looked at him, stricken, like she maybe didn't understand. That just made it even harder, because now he had to pretend that he wasn’t dying inside for her.

“Now I really don't think I know what you're talking about.”

Trevor felt frustration rising up inside of him. If that were true, he wanted her to know exactly what she was doing. Then maybe he would be able to breathe again, and she would be out of breath He wanted to give some of the need to her, hoping that it would lessen what was inside of him.

He looked back to see that his daughter was not paying attention to them. She had gotten sidetracked with something else, and he immediately pulled Jessica closer. All he could think about was kissing her, and suddenly, he didn't have to think about it anymore. Her lips were not expecting his, and it took a moment for her to kiss him back, but when she did, everything fell into place for Trevor. He could imagine her being the one that he’d waited for. The kiss was that good.

When Trevor pulled back from her, she was looking at him with a question in her eyes. She was obviously just as confused as he was. That helped settle it all, as far as he was concerned. His mind was now able to really think things through. Trevor had worried that feeling he had about her was made up, and maybe it was just something that he wanted. Now he knew otherwise. Now Trevor knew that it was for real. The kiss had told him that.

Trevor heard his name not too long after the two pulled away from each other. Trevor looked over at Emily at the water’s edge and waved. She wanted him to help her with something, and in truth, he probably needed a moment to collect himself anyway. Jessica was looking at him like she wasn't sure what had happened. He wasn't all that sure either. He never thought he would feel that way about anyone. To find out that it was going to be someone he had just met was rather surprising.

“I will be back in a few minutes.”

“It's probably time for me to get out anyway. I'm starting to turn into a prune.”

Trevor wanted her to stay, but he knew that he didn't have a good reason for her to. He wanted to kiss her again. It was just on the tip of his tongue, and before he could convince her otherwise, she was getting out of the water as well.

His attention was quickly on her long legs and toned muscles, skin freckled all over, making it appear two-toned. She looked rather good without her clothes on, and he couldn't help but wonder how quickly he could see all of her. How long was that going to take?

Trevor knew that he was playing with fire. It was the only way to describe it. He had no clue what was going to happen next, and from the sound of things, she was already in big trouble. That meant that it was not going to be easy. But none of that seemed to faze him. The only thing Trevor was worried about was how he could make it happen.

That evening after dinner, Trevor went to her, venturing to see if she wanted to have a drink. Maybe he was hopeful that she would be in her nightgown again. The view was definitely worth the effort, but she was still wearing the same thing that she had earlier in the day. She answered, already having a glass of wine in her hand.

“It didn't take you long to find the wine stash I see.”

“I hope you don't mind. I didn't sleep very well last night either, and I was hoping that it would maybe do the trick.”

“You know, there are lots of ways to fall asleep. I could help you with some of them.”

She had a smile on her face, and Trevor wanted to believe that they were on the same page. They had been before, but this was different. She was looking at him exactly how he wanted her to.

“Is that so? Why do I get a feeling that I know where this is going to go?”

“I was just going to say you need to take your mind off things and I know a way.”

“Uh-huh, and how do you propose that I do that?”

“I guess there are a lot of ways that you could do it. Maybe by having a drink with me and some good conversation.”

“Bull, Trevor. That’s not what you are thinking about at all.”

“So, what am I thinking about then, if you know me so well?”

  “You're thinking about that kiss.”

Trevor paused for a moment and looked at her expression and smiled. “You could be right. It won't do me any good, though.”

  “It might.”

He didn't know what to say to her. There was so much that was unknown, that he had to get to the bottom of. Trevor’s mind was already going a mile a minute, getting his hopes up when he could be wrong.

“I really don't know what to think of you, Jessica.”

That made her burst out with a giggle, and it looked like it surprised even her.

“What is so funny? I feel like I have missed the joke.”

“I don't know exactly. I certainly feel differently when I'm around you. Ever since the first night I got here, I feel like we're connected in some way. So, I guess I don't really know what to think of you either. I did not plan on having feelings for my host.”

“So, what are we going to do about it? Neither one of us can sleep, so maybe we could help each other out?”

“I don't know if I'm ready for that. I just met you.”

By that, he was pretty sure that she meant being together intimately. It was, of course, what he was talking about as well, but he wasn't going to be able to take her no for an answer. He doubted that it would take much at all to have her seeing things his way.

“Well then, what are you ready for?”

Another giggle, but this time, there was a hint of nerves.

“I don't know. I get that's probably not the answer that you want, but it's the only one that I have. You make it hard to think, Trevor.”

“It’s okay to not know. Why don't we try a few things and see how you feel about it? I do believe that I can help you with your sleep problems, without going too far.”

“Will it help your sleep problems?”

Trevor was willing to have a few more sleepless nights if it meant that he got what he wanted in the end.

“I have never been a very patient man, and it might do more harm than good, if I'm honest.”

That made her laugh. “But then…”

“There is no but. It's not for me; it's for you.”

He felt her tremble in his arms, and he pulled her in for another kiss. Maybe it was to ensure that he got what he wanted, or maybe it was to show her exactly how good it could be between them. Whatever it was, it must have made her change her mind, because she agreed to go up to his bedroom with him. She said it in the softest voice imaginable, but he heard enough of it to quickly drag her up the stairs. Trevor didn’t want her to change her mind.

  Chapter Twelve

  Jes
sica was still asking herself what she was doing. He had taken her to his own room, following her in and then shutting the door behind him. Trevor looked ravenous, and she was starting to think that she’d made a mistake. Maybe she was just going with feelings that weren’t real. She’d never been with a man in any way, and the way that Trevor was looking at her made her shiver inside.

Trevor seemed to realize that she was freaking out a little bit because next thing she knew, he was pulling her in for a kiss, and she wasn’t thinking at all anymore. Jessica knew that he was the very reason that she couldn’t sleep. Maybe he would be the only one that would be able to help.

Her body molded against his, and she sighed when he finally pulled his attention from her lips and moved down to her neck. It felt good, almost to the point of tickling, but she didn’t feel like laughing. She felt like her whole body was going to explode if he didn’t give her more of the same. Whatever it was that she was lacking, Jessica knew, without a doubt, that he possessed it.

She felt him pick her up and carry her over to the bed that was still unmade. She clung to him, not because she was afraid of falling, but because she wanted to be as close to him as possible. Jessica felt desperate, and he was the only one that was going to make her whole again.

“I don’t know what it is about you, Jessica, but you drive me crazy. I am not usually like this.”

  “Like what?”

“So needy. Usually, I have more control, and I can stop myself.”

Jessica wasn’t listening. His hand was in the waistband of her pants, and she was only paying attention to that contact at the moment. She was so hot, so full of her own need, that her hips moved up to meet his fingers quickly. She wanted more. She wanted that release that she knew was right on the cusp of happening. It was what she needed to happen.

He didn’t try to undress her like she would have thought. Trevor was touching the most intimate part of her, and that was the only thing that he was touching. His lips were back on hers, muffling the sounds of pleasure that escaped from between her lips.

A few got out, and she was moaning, her voice hitching as he pushed her closer to some sort of edge. It was all building up in her body, ready to take her away. He was just rubbing on her, and it was enough to push her into an orgasm. She called out, her eyes shutting.

Her legs tried to stop his arm, clenching it with her thighs. Jessica had known that it was coming, but she hadn’t been ready for it. Bright colors burst behind her closed lids.

It was all perfect until he started to push one of the fingers inside of her and pain ripped through her. She was immediately pushing him away, looking at him like he had done something wrong.

That was bad enough, the embarrassment of it all. What was worse, though, was the look of shock that came over Trevor. He was breathing hard, face red, and his eyes were wide with surprise.

  “You’re untouched?”

Jessica wanted to hide her face. Why would he ask like that? It was too blunt for her liking, and she could have melted into the floor just then and been happy to do so.

“I said I wasn’t ready to go all the way.”

“I know, I just thought it was for a different reason. I’m sorry…I didn’t mean to put you on the spot like that. I just didn’t realize…”

His voice trailed off, and he just kept staring. Her blood pressure was already up because of him touching her and making her lose control. It stayed up because he was looking at her so intently.

“I like the idea that I am the first to touch you, Jessica. I wish you would have told me. I would have done a better job.”

“I think you did well enough. Now come here and stop staring at me. I can’t take your eyes on me like that.”

He didn’t do as she asked. Instead, he moved between her legs, telling her that she would like his tongue on her better.

Jessica closed her eyes and tried her best to focus. The feel of his hot, wet tongue was all that she needed. Soon, the slight bit of pain was gone, and Jessica was feeling more pleasure than she could describe. It was just too much.

Calling out until late into the night, Trevor was relentless. Only when she was practically comatose did he finally give her a break. It was one that she desperately needed.

  Chapter Thirteen

Trevor was going on about three days of no sleep. While it didn’t seem like a long time, at the moment, it felt like forever. He was making breakfast and listening to Emily chatter on about something, but he couldn't get his brain to work. Trevor had a lot on his mind, and even Emily noticed that he wasn't listening to her.

“Daddy, you're not even listening. That’s not very nice.”

“I am, sweetie. I am just tired. I haven't been getting much sleep.”

She looked at him and frowned. “Why aren't you getting any sleep? Do you want to sleep with my blanket?”

“No, I don’t want to take your blanket.”

  “It helps me sleep.”

He couldn't tell her why, so he just kind of shrugged and said that he didn't know why, but he would work on it.

Emily was nothing if not helpful, and she immediately came up with a solution.

“Maybe you could get Jessica to help you if my blanket won’t work? She helped me when I couldn't sleep.”

He said something about maybe checking it out, but of course, he didn't mean it. Jessica was the reason that he couldn't sleep as it was. She wasn't going to help him unless she was ready. He didn’t know when that would be.

“I'll have to ask her about it.”

“You should. Is she not coming down for breakfast?”

A part of him had wanted to go to her this morning. It had taken up all of his control not to do just that. He’d decided against it because he thought maybe she would need some time that morning to wake up and get ready. She had definitely been put to sleep right, and he probably would have left her there if his daughter had said something. She was right, of course. He should go get Jessica for breakfast.

“I will be back in just a minute, okay?”

Emily was barely paying attention. She was far more interested in the pancakes that were sitting in front of her.

When he reached the room, he knocked lightly and waited for her to answer. When she didn't, he finally opened the door and found her still in bed. He said her name several times before her eyes opened and she gave him the biggest smile he had ever seen. She stretched, and the movement only made matters worse.

Now he could see all of her body, and it took her a moment and sound from him for her to realize that she wasn't wearing any clothing still. She was just how he left her the night before, and again he was shaking inside with a desire that was becoming out of control.

She had a sly smile on her face and apologized when she covered herself with a blanket.

“You seem to have a knack for finding me when I'm naked.”

That very well could be so, but at the moment, she was the one that was making life every bit more complicated than it was in the past. Could she not see that she was driving him crazy?

“It is not my intention, really.”

“Really?” Another long stretch, sure to make him notice.

“If I could get my hands on you, I suppose it would be rather different. And not being able to, is kind of killing me.”

“You want me to get ready, huh?”

He agreed wholeheartedly. Of course, he wanted her in all ways. Even though he was finding it impossible to wait, he knew that he would.

“I will meet you downstairs. I don't think that I can stay up here and have this chat with you right now. Not when you’re looking like that.”

“I covered up my body. Isn't that enough?”

He shook his head vigorously. “Right now, it doesn't matter if you have clothes on or not; I can still see everything.”

He saw her visibly shiver, and Trevor knew that he had to get out of there. She was playing with his mind, and the last thing he needed to do was let her win. Trevor
was just going to have to be a little bit more patient. As badly as he needed her, he had to believe that she felt the same way. Maybe she was innocent, but need was need.

Jessica joined them downstairs about fifteen minutes later, and she looked fresh out of the shower. The smell of her perfume was easily distinguished. It was probably one of those scents that he would never forget again. How could he, when the smell now triggered thoughts of Jessica?

Emily had big plans for all of them, but Trevor backed out of it. He felt a little guilty because Emily was immediately bummed out about it, but then again, he knew that it was for the best. It could take time for Jessica to come to her senses and see what he already saw. It would be a lot easier to keep his mind right if he was able to think around her.

At the moment, all of his blood was currently going to the wrong parts of his body, and he couldn't think straight at all.

Thankfully, it only took a couple of days for Trevor to finally get his way. There was a lot of flirting, and even though Trevor was going to work and staying busy most of the day, it did not change what he did in the evening. Every evening, he was with Jessica.

On the third evening that they were together, she asked for his attention again. She asked in such a beautiful way that there was no way he could say no.

“Can you help me sleep again, Trevor? I haven't slept that good since the other night.”

He immediately wanted to tell her yes, of course he would fulfill her desires and listen to her scream for hours. The very idea of it had him rock hard, so it upped the ante. He needed to sleep as well, and she was the only cure that he knew of.

  “I don't think it's a good idea.”

“I think it's a great idea. Why wouldn't it be?”
