Alpha Shifter Bride Service: (A Paranormal Romance Series) Page 48

by Serena Meadows

She insisted on going even though her mate, Dylan, wasn’t too happy about it. He was relentless when she said that’s what she wanted. He tried to talk her out of it, but nothing worked. Jamie was convinced that if she was there, everything would go smoother, and she could make sure that no one else was hurt. Besides, if she went, that just meant that one less person had to go in her stead.

Her mate pulled her aside and wanted to know what she was thinking.

  “What do you mean?”

“I mean, we have a baby at home. You shouldn’t be off running around while our kids are at home. What if something happens to us? At least if it’s just one of us, they would have one parent left.”

Jamie shrugged. “Fine, you stay here and I will go. Then if something happens to me, they will have you.”

He shot her a dirty look, and Jamie tried to lighten it up with a smile.

“Yeah, that’s about how I feel about it too. Don’t let anything happen to us, have a good plan, and the kids will be safe and just fine when we get back.”

Jamie could see him giving in. He had convinced her that the married life was the one for her, and she had been happy, but things were to the point that it was going to go downhill fast. The hiding and attacks were getting old. She had a girl that she was responsible for who was unaccounted for. Everything hinged on her doing what needed to be done. Jamie was going to see it through. She had to. It was the only way that she was going to be able to really work it out and start to forgive herself for everything that had happened.

Her mate agreed, only because he didn’t have a choice. She was going to go, and that was that. Everyone was ready to go by nightfall. No one really knew what they were walking into, but Jamie hoped that they would be able to figure something out. She hoped that Molly would be there on some off chance, but she knew deep down that it was false hope. She wasn’t there, but the crystal would be. Then Chelsea and the rest of her sisters would help them, and they would be on the right track to finding Molly and hopefully ending the Syndicate for good. The organization had been harassing people for years, and it was time that it was over.

Not many people said much as they prepared to leave. There was a lot of nervousness in the crowd, and a lot of anger. She wasn't the only one that had been wronged by the Syndicate. Everybody that was present had been in one way or another. It was a sea of people, and the worst part was that she knew there was even more. All they had to do was say something. They were all ready to go.

Her husband asked her one last time if she was prepared for what came next.

  “I’m ready, Dylan.”

The building was secure, just like the scouts had told them. There were just as many people there as well, but the shifters had the element of surprise. It was a good thing because the Syndicate had not only shifters under their employ, but several different types of magical beings that were working with them as well.

The battle was fierce, and they were almost taken down several times. It was luck keeping them going. Jamie was sure of it. A witch almost killed them all before she was softened by a blow to the head from behind.

At the end of it, several crystals were pulled out of a series of locked rooms. One of them was for the Waverly witches, and the rest were just in case they could use them for more favors later.

Jamie and Jessica went back to see the witches the next day. The men waited outside because they seemed to be a distraction to Chelsea. Jessica didn’t like the way she looked at Trevor, so she decided that there was going to be no man there to check out.

It wasn’t like Chelsea knew why he was left outside, she couldn’t, but she guessed it just as easily.

“You took away our eye candy?”

Jessica smirked, and Jamie wanted to know what they were talking about. Jessica waved her off and handed Chelsea the crystal.

“Here is the crystal that you wanted.”

She pulled it out of her pocket and handed it to the old woman. She immediately perked up. Chelsea had a youthful glow coming over her, and she said a few words before her appearance changed completely.

Jessica was amazed at what happened next. She wasn’t sure that she had seen it with her own eyes, but she had. Chelsea was barely twenty now, and once her sisters did the same thing, it was hard not to be happy that she decided to leave the men outside.

“Now you see why I needed this?”

Jessica and Jamie both agreed. “Your magic is amazing.”

Chelsea smiled. She agreed that she did love her magic, but there was something else that she wanted.

“Now that I know that you can deliver, I think you should get me something else before I help you find your friend. If you get it for me, not only will I tell you where she is, but I will help you myself. If I get the last thing I need, I won’t be tethered to the woods and the ground anymore. I could leave of my own free will, and I wouldn’t take a power cut when I did. That’s what I really need, Jessica, and you’re going to get it for me.”

Jessica immediately disagreed. It wasn’t going to work for her.

“You said a crystal; we brought you a crystal. I am not going to wait anymore. You owe us.”

Chelsea turned on Jessica quickly. Her face changed, and although it was young and pretty, she also had this cold stare that froze Jessica to her core. She had said the wrong thing. She knew it almost immediately. The woman’s eyes were shooting daggers at her.

“I don’t think you realize your situation, girl. I am a witch, and you are a simple little creature that howls at the moon. Talk to me like that again, and I will show you firsthand why your people are afraid of mine.”

Jessica was waiting for a bolt of lightning to come towards her.

Jamie stepped in and tried to placate the angry witch. It looked easier said than done. She had to assure her that Jessica was just tired and didn’t mean any disrespect. It didn’t help that Jessica scoffed loud enough to be heard. She was sent away, and Jamie was left to speak to the witch alone. She hadn’t ever been so scared in all of her life. The witch could kill her with the snap of her fingers and no one would be able to stop her.

“You must have a lot of guilt to make such promises to someone like me. You know if you don’t deliver the artifact, we will come for you.”

  Jamie agreed.

  Chelsea asked her why.

  “What do you mean, why?”

“Why would you go through all of this just to find one girl? Is she family?”

Jamie disagreed. “No, it was someone that had been brought to me for matchmaking. That was it. The Syndicate sold her to me.”

  “So, she is your property?”

Jamie shook her head. “No, it’s not like that at all. It’s just that I said I would keep her safe, and now she has to deal with all of this. It just doesn’t seem fair.”

“Life isn’t fair. I would imagine that you have already learned that. Anyone who messes with the Syndicate for too long learns that.”

“Why would you help us get Molly? Is it because she’s a witch?”

Chelsea paused and set down the cigarette that had been pressed to her lips.

“No one told me that she was a witch.”

Jamie shrugged. “She’s a witch and a shifter, from what her file said. She comes from a powerful family too. The Windaus.”

Chelsea was thinking. Jamie didn’t like the smile that came over her face.

Since the woman had already gone back on her word already once, she was focused on making sure that it wouldn’t happen again.

“What do we have as a guarantee this time? You already broke your word once. We’re not questioning your integrity, just asking a question.”

“Well, take my sister Clara with you. She can help you get in because this time, it’s going to be a little harder.”

Jamie groaned inwardly. The last time hadn’t been so easy, and now it was going to be even worse. She was also a bit put off that Chelsea was going to offer up her sister in such a way.

&nbs
p; “Your sister?”

“Yeah, Clara doesn’t mind, do you?”

Her younger sister didn’t seem so enthused about it, but after looking at Chelsea for a minute, she agreed. She didn’t seem to have much of a choice. Chelsea was obviously the older one that the others deferred to.

“Of course not. Whatever I can do to get us out of this house.”

The last bit of the comment got her a dirty look from Chelsea, and Jamie had to wonder what kind of dynamic was at play right then. She didn't even know if the men would want the witch's help. They could be screwed over once again. Maybe the next time, they wouldn’t be able to leave with their lives. What if the witch turned against them?

There really was nothing to do but go along with it. She thanked Chelsea for the extra help and told her that she would be back as quickly as they could.

“Make sure you do it fast, Jamie. The best opportunity that you're going to get to take care of your little problem is coming up rather quickly. We need to be there for their annual meeting. That's the only way you can take them all out in one go.”

Jamie still wasn't too sure about where the witch’s loyalties lay. She wanted to believe that Chelsea had intentions of helping, but there really was no telling how it was all going to turn out. She was just going to have to wait and see, something that she truly hated to do.

Not saying another word that could be taken the wrong way, Jamie left abruptly after that. She was told to pick up the younger sister the next morning. She had to get a few things together, and Jamie decided that they could find somewhere close and stay for the night. Everything would hopefully clarify itself in the morning, and then she could get back to what they were doing. They were trying to save Molly, and if they had to take out a few more of their own enemy to do so, how could that be wrong?

As much as she could see the value in it, Jamie was still worried because she now had to go convince others that the best course of action was to get in bed with witches that had already broken their word. It didn't really seem like a good idea in some respects; she could see that much. But since it was their only option and it was getting Molly back safely; she knew that she had to sell it like it was the best idea they’d had yet. Whether she believed that or not didn't matter. What mattered was that other people believed it.

Tevin stared at her once she opened up the shower curtain for him. He could see all of her body, and she was unabashedly showing it to him. Most of the time, women were a bit shy. She wasn’t, although she had been times before. Molly was a woman that he doubted he would ever understand. He didn’t need to, though.

Taking off his clothes quickly, she noticed the tattoo on his chest.

  “I forgot about that.”

Again, it wasn’t something that made much sense to him, but Tevin couldn’t be bothered with using his brain. She was beautiful, standing there in front of him with such a look on her face. She was horny, naked, and wet from the shower. Tevin would have been crazy to have said anything.

Getting into the shower, she was quick to get a kiss from him before she begged him to touch her.

  “What do you want?”

“You know what I want, Tevin; you always have.”

“We’ve never done this before, Molly.”

She disagreed and moved around so that her back was to him. Her hand went to his and put it on her chest, squeezing it. It made her whimper, and his hand was feeling up the softness of her breasts and the sharp contrast to her nipples. She felt familiar, but in the way that she acted. They had never done anything naked in the shower together. He was sure of that, because it would have been something that he never would have been able to forget.

He slipped right between her legs, and he ran himself back and forth a couple of times. Usually, he would have gone slower, but everything was happening at lightning speed with her. It was hard to keep up, and maybe he wasn’t supposed to.

Molly grabbed him, and while he thought he was going to be inside of her in seconds, she instead started to rub the head while she rubbed the shaft with her thighs. It felt amazing, and he closed his eyes to it for a moment. Tevin had never been touched in such a way, and it was confusing. Why did she feel so good, and why had he never had someone do that before?

The whole time he was holding back sounds from his own pleasure, Molly was doing the same thing. She was closer than he realized because the next minute, she was calling out, and he could feel extra wetness on his moving shaft. It wasn’t enough to make him stop, though. He was close himself, but he wanted all of her.

Tevin bent her further over and tried to wedge himself inside of her. Molly wasn’t going for it, though. She said it wasn’t the right time, and it was not how it was supposed to be. He didn’t know what that meant naturally, but he did know that he needed her. When he said as much, she moved to her knees, and in seconds, he was inside of her mouth. It wasn’t the same, but it didn’t matter. Damp heat with suction was added to his length, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Looking down, seeing himself in her mouth, her lips stretched to accommodate his girth, was too much. Her eyes spoke volumes while her mouth gobbled him up until he was sure that he was going to lose himself completely.

Before he could stop himself, Tevin was taking her face in his hands and he was stroking the back of her throat. She did something inside of her mouth, collapsing on his length and milking him for everything he had. He was the one that pushed her away, and she spit his seed out on the shower floor, watching it go down the drain.

She turned to him and rinsed her mouth out before washing her hair and body like nothing out of the ordinary had happened. One quick kiss on his lips and that was that. She was obviously done and didn’t want to snuggle, or even talk about what had just happened. He had many questions about some of the things that she had said, but none of them were able to be answered.

By the time he got out of the shower with a towel around his waist, she was gone, and he was left wondering who the hell she was and what had just happened. It was like nothing he’d ever felt before. Did Molly have him under some kind of spell? That wasn’t supposed to happen. His job didn’t allow it. Fraternizing was highly off-limits.

But still…how badly he wanted more and knew that she had so much more to give. Would he really give up Molly to the Syndicate now? How could he?

“So, are you going to tell me what that was all about?”

Molly smiled at Tevin. “I would think that you would know exactly what that was. Do you really need a reminder? Am I that forgettable?”

“I think you know that that is not the case at all. You just said some things in the middle of it that I don't understand. You were talking about us like we've been together before. How is that possible? We've only known each other a couple of days, Molly.”

Molly said that maybe he should just accept what happened between them. “It was nice; why does it have to be more than that?”

“Because it was way more than that. How do you know me? How do you know things about me that I didn't even know about myself?”

She looked at him like she didn't understand what he was talking about, and he turned away for a moment, his face going red with embarrassment.

“You know that thing you did, it felt familiar, but I know that I've never had that done to me before. I don't even know what to call it. How did you know that I would like that?”

Molly was quiet for a moment while he waited for an answer. It felt like it would be worth the wait, no matter how long it took for her to come around. Somehow, she knew him. She was from the future? The last part got him thinking. Maybe she was one of those witches.

“Are you one of those witches that can read minds? See into the future? What do they call it, prophecy?”

Molly was unable to meet his gaze, and that told him everything he needed to know. Not only was she a powerful witch with magic that he hadn't even seen and she for some reason hadn't used, but she knew more about him than he did. That w
ould make a lot of sense. What she did with him in the shower felt better than anything he ever had done before. It was unlike any pleasure he’d experienced before, and so help him, Tevin wanted to do it again.

His mind went elsewhere. That was going to be something that was going to take some time to forget about. Everything about her screamed perfection, and it didn't feel that hard to believe that the two of them were supposed to be together. It made sense to him. He felt some kind of way that he had never felt before. Tevin didn't know if it was love, but he knew that it was the closest he had ever come to it before. Wasn't that enough?

“I guess you could say that. I have been known to see flashes of the future, but that's not the only way I know you. I have been dreaming about you for almost a decade. I knew that you were going to be the one to come get me from the Syndicate; that's why I didn't fight. And I know that one day, we're going to be together and we will have children, so that is why I crave you so badly sexually. In my mind, we've been together for years already, and my body remembers you well.”

It was a lot to take in, and he kind of frowned at all the information coming in. While it sounded good and he could see all of those things happening, Tevin was the sort of man that wanted to be a master of his own destiny. As soon as he heard that he was supposed to do anything, all he wanted to do was rebel. Right or wrong, that's just how he was.

  “So, you're serious?”

She told him that she was, and he just looked at her like she had lost her mind.

“I am. I know that might be a lot for you to believe, but it's the truth as I know it. From the moment I saw you, I knew exactly who you were. I knew your soul.”

The way she looked at him made him wonder if her words were true.

“I don't know if I believe in all of that or not, Molly. I like to believe that we make our own future from our decisions, not from some unseen force that can’t be stopped.”

She waved him off. “It doesn't really matter if you believe in it or not. It believes in you, Tevin.”
