Jonathon nodded as he sat down with a loaded burger on his plate. “He won’t be able to use it the next time he comes home as it’ll be December, but next summer hopefully he’ll be home for a few months and he wants to hold a barbeque every weekend.”
“We’re late but here!” Lizzy called and they turned as she and her wife Marilyn walked around the side of Jonathon’s house with plastic tubs in their hands. “I brought pie.” Whereas Lizzy was bubbly, short and had a nice round figure, her partner was tall, thin, and angular with natural tan skin that came from her Native American roots.
Julie filled a plate for the two of them, but she didn’t eat much. “You okay?” Matt whispered in her ear.
Looking up, she nodded. “I always get sick this time of year.” Remembering, he nodded. Fall always came with the requisite illness.
As the others ate and discussed the goings on in Colorado and what they needed to prepare for as fall was upon them and they needed to get ready for winter, Rose watched them, a speculative gleam in her eyes.
“When’s Calbert coming?” Marilyn asked. Lizzy, her normally happy wife, grimaced surprising Matt; he didn’t think anything upset the woman. Even further confusing was the amusement that crossed Brent’s and Jason’s faces. Marilyn wrapped an arm around her wife’s shoulders and kissed her forehead.
“October. Took a little longer to get his business set up so he could run it from here,” Brent explained. “Then three of the four community developers will be in residence. If I can finally convince Corbin to move, then all four of us will be here.”
“I don’t see that happening any time soon,” Jason said with a frown. “Not with the way things are.”
“Shit!” Julie gasped, leaping to her feet and running inside Jonathon’s house.
“She okay?” Lizzy asked, sitting up straight.
“She gets sick this time of year. It’s a Julie thing,” Matt explained. “Happened to a lot of people where we grew up, actually.” Lizzy and Rose glanced at one another, hopped to their feet and then followed his ill wife. It was nice to have people care for her this way. Turning back to the group, he quickly realized he had missed something.
“…Of course I didn’t mean it that way,” Jonathon said with a grimace even as the other men snickered. “But that’s how Benjamin took it. Made me put plastic bags over the little things.”
“What things?” Matt asked. “Sorry, I missed something.”
Brent looked over. “Jonathon’s kinkier than we thought,” he teased. “He put dildo-shaped gnomes in his last yard.”
Spluttering out a laugh, Matt looked over at his neighbor, expecting to see embarrassment plastered across his face. Instead, a wicked grin spread across his lips. “Oh, Brent, you have no idea,” he said in a sultry voice as Brent took a swig from his beer.
Coughing, Brent spit his drink over the lawn as he burst out laughing.
Grinning as this felt like sitting with his buddies at college, Matt took another drink from his beer. “When’s Marcus getting here?” Jason asked. “Rose’s arthritis will kick in as soon as the cool weather hits.”
“They’re set to move in the end of next month. Contractors just finished the medical clinic. It’s attached to his home.” Brent managed to say the words with a straight face even though his body was still shaking with laughter from Jonathon’s comment.
“Good thing we’ll have a doctor in the community,” Rose said, walking back out of the house, a twinkle in her eyes. Walking over to Matt, she leaned down so only he would hear her. “Lizzy went with Julie to the market. You might want to meet her back at your house.”
Startled, he hopped up, quickly dumping the rest of his food and the paper plate in a nearby garbage. Swigging the last of his beer, he tossed the bottle in a bin marked Recycle. “Sounds like Julie’s illness has gotten worse. I need to go take care of my wife.” Everyone called out well wishes as he jogged back around the house and across the street to his own.
Murmurs fell into the distance even as he heard Brent say, “Really?”
Unlocking the front door, he rushed inside. If Julie was ill, he knew the kinds of things that helped her to feel better. After pulling one side of the bed covers back so she could slide in, he went into the bathroom and turned on the faucet in the bathtub, sticking his hands under the running water until it was the right temperature. As the tub filled up, he added some of her bath salts and turned the faucet off once it was filled.
Now all he had to do was wait. Hopefully the corner market had what she needed. Going into the kitchen, he opened up the cupboard that held anything medicinal. Seeing that they had Tylenol and Aspirin, he couldn’t imagine anything else she might need. As the door opened, he rushed over to it. Seeing the happiness on her face, especially combined with the circles under her eyes, deepened his confusion. “Thanks, Lizzy,” she called over her shoulder.
“You’re welcome, Julie. If you need anything, call.”
Julie shut the door and Matt pulled her gently to him. “Honey, I have a bath ready for you.”
Looking up at him, she beamed. “Sounds lovely. But first there’s something I need to do.” She held up a plain brown grocery bag and walked into the bedroom and then into their bath. Matt followed along. She pulled a thin blue box out of the bag and ripped it open. It wasn’t until he saw the shape of the device coming out of it that he realized what was going on.
“You’re pregnant?”
She beamed. “I’m hoping. Both Rose and Lizzy seemed to think so. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it myself. I mean…I haven’t had a period since right after we moved here.” The entire process was spellbinding for him as she peed on the stick and then sat it on the counter. “Okay, now we need to wait five minutes.”
Pulling her into his arms, he kissed her. “Are you excited?”
“Hopeful,” she corrected. “Very hopeful.”
They probably should have gone and done something while they waited, but they couldn’t move. Neither of them looked at the little piece of plastic as she curled into his arms and he held her tightly, but leaving the bathroom just wasn’t a possibility. Matt looked forward to being a dad. His own father had always been distant, never spending much time with his family. He was going to do it differently. And he had the feeling their new friends would help spoil whatever munchkins the two of them had.
“How long?” she whispered.
Looking at his watch, his lips twitched. “It’s only been a minute.” Her groan made him laugh softly. Swaying back and forth, he hummed one of her favorite tunes. Lost in the song, vivid images of three children of differing ages, all with brown hair, filled his mind. Glancing at his watch, he straightened up. “Jules? It’s been five minutes.”
He felt her gulp. “Can you look? I’m afraid to.”
Squeezing her tight, he turned and looked down at the pregnancy test strip. “Wow, they make it easy,” he murmured. “Pregnant.”
“What?” she gasped, yanking back and turning to the counter, staring at the same word he was looking at. “We’re pregnant?”
Chuckling with joy, he nodded, “Looks like it, Baby.” The glow on her face as she turned toward him made him even happier.
“You’re going to be a daddy!” She giggled.
“When the new doc comes, we’ll need him to give you a physical and help us figure out what we need to do.” His mind instantly went to the practicalities. “I’ll ask Brent if he has a list of doctors in Boulder and Denver since we’ll require an OB/GYN. And before winter we should get the furniture for the baby’s room. I’ll look up information on what’s safe and what’s not…”
“Matt,” she murmured, making him pause.
“Hmm?” His eyes, which had been gazing off into space, cleared and he noted she was grinning up at him.
“We can think about that tomorrow. How about celebrating?”
“I like celebrating. What do you have in mind?”
Her head turned toward the tub. “How about
a pleasant hot bath…and then a long rough fuck.”
Moaning, he kissed her hard. “I love your dirty mouth.”
“Good thing,” she said with a laugh as she pulled her shirt over her head. “Because Jonathon’s taught me some nasty words.”
Startled, he looked at her and then shook with laughter. “Like what?”
She shook her head. “You’ll just have to wait to hear them when they burst out of nowhere. I had never heard of some of them before.”
As she slipped off her shorts and panties, he quickly divested himself of his clothing, joining her in the tub seconds after she slid into the hot water. Unable not to touch the beautiful woman snuggled between his legs, he wrapped one arm around her and slid his right hand between her thighs. “You know,” he murmured as she rubbed against his finger, “we’ll need to figure out the what’s and what not’s to do during pregnancy.”
Moaning, she arched, pressing her clit against his finger. “I think Rose will be good for that,” she said with a gasp. “She and Jason have been doing this for a very long time.”
“Naughty girl,” he said as she grasped his hand and pressed his fingers into her cunt.
“Naughty girl who loves you.”
They kissed and teased in the water until it started to go cold. Once out of the bath with the water draining, he pointed into the bedroom. “Your choice of position.” He loved letting her choose. Julie was so wonderfully passionate and even when they had lived in conservative Mesa, she had researched sex on the internet, always coming up with new positions and new things she’d found.
“Okay!” she called and he walked into the bedroom to find her on her knees and her shoulders on the bed.
“What position’s this?” he asked, walking over to get behind her.
“Nuh-uh,” she said shaking her head. “Come over here.” She patted the bed in front of her face and he walked up to her, surprised to see the Corbin’s Bend paddle sitting next to her. “This way, you get to decorate my cheeks and I get to do this.” Before he could say anything, hot moist lips engulfed his cock.
“Fuck!” he gasped, grasping her head for a moment. Her giggle just made things better and he moaned. “Fuck, I love you.” Picking up the paddle, he had a sudden desire to find out if he should be doing this while she was pregnant. Of course, he paddled her with it just five days ago. As her mouth slid down his shaft and he entered her throat, Matt realized he was probably being overly cautious. Using his left hand, he smacked her gorgeous globes, the light pink dusting her skin quickly disappearing.
Her hands grasped his hips as she slid her tight, hot mouth up and down his dick and his hand came down a little harder. A moan from her sent a rush of pleasure that almost made his knees buckle. Switching to the paddle, he brought it down. Barely having the chance to enjoy the emblem of the mountains as it showed up against the background of pink, he cried out as she swallowed around him. It was obvious he wasn’t going to last long and he wanted her to cum when he did.
Tossing the paddle to the side, he leaned forward, trembling as she pulled back a little and suckled at the tip. “Fuck, woman!” She giggled, moving back down his shaft and as his right hand smacked down on her ass, he slipped three fingers of his left hand into her cunt. “Shit, you’re so wet, Baby.” She moaned again and he pulled the fingers out, instantly thrusting them back in again. Finger-fucking her while he continued to spank her with his hand at the same time she sucked on his cock was mind-blowing. Her cries and moans around his shaft made him shake and as his balls pulled up close to his body, Matt ripped his fingers from her puss and rubbed them quickly over her clit. With a shriek, she came, her body arching even as his cock erupted down her throat. He rubbed her as she continued to swallow until he finally was too tired to move. Pulling his hand back, he leaned down and pressed a kiss over her nice pink ass.
His dick slid from her lips and she moaned. “We’ve got to do that again,” she insisted, making him smile.
“I agree. Now why don’t you get some sleep?” he said, pulling back and helping her to the side of the bed where he had already turned down the blankets. “Can I get you anything to drink?” After a pause as things he had heard about morning sickness went through his head, he said, “I’ll bring some crackers in here so you can have them in case you need them.”
She smiled. “You’re going to make baby lists now, aren’t you?”
Grinning, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to her shoulder. “Yes, I am.”
“Good. You can fill me in in the morning,” she whispered with a yawn.
Once she was asleep, he pulled on a pair of shorts and left their bedroom, closing the door three-quarter of the way so that he could hear her if she needed him. Opening up one of the drawers in the kitchen, he pulled out a pad of paper. Since he would be back to work tomorrow night, he wanted to get a start on this. He had just put pen to paper when a knock came at the front door. Putting the pen and pad down, he walked over and opened it, smiling at Jason and Rose. “Julie’s resting. What can I do for you?” he asked as he stood back to let them in.
“Oh, we don’t want to bother you,” Rose said, glancing between him and the hallway that led back to their bedroom. “Umm. Did she—” Her voice trailed off and he realized she didn’t know how to ask if Julie was pregnant just in case his wife hadn’t mentioned it yet.
“We used the test. It’s positive.” His grin almost hurt his face, it was so wide.
“Congratulations!” she whispered in a happy tone. “Tell Julie I’ll drop by tomorrow. I have a few things I did back when I was pregnant that helped with morning sickness.”
After a few more minutes where the both of them wished them well and offered any support they might need, they left to go home and he went back to his list. Only to be interrupted by three phone calls asking the same thing. By the time he put the phone down from the calls, Matt tossed his pen to the side. Having their new friends be excited for them made the moment that much better. He could make lists later.
He had a wife to hold.
Turning off the lights, he strode back into their bedroom. As soon as his clothes were in the hamper, he slid between the sheets and pulled Julie close to his body, wrapping a leg over her protectively. Moaning, she curled up. He thought she was asleep until she spoke. “Teresa would be a good name if it’s a girl.”
The thought of a little girl who looked like his wife made his chest tighten and a feeling of absolute love and protection filled him up. “I agree, Jules. Teresa sounds like a great name.” As her breathing evened out and she relaxed completely in sleep, he realized there was another list he would need to make.
It took him several hours to get to sleep. Things he and they needed to do filled up lists in his head, as well as questions he wanted to ask the men in the community. Never before had he ever felt like he belonged somewhere except in Julie’s arms. Here in Corbin’s Bend, the two of them had found a place where they belonged with people who were from all walks of life and yet were bound together by one simple premise. As he slid into slumber, he pictured a beautiful little girl with her mother’s reddish-brown hair and his green eyes laughing with Julie in their backyard. “Beautiful,” he murmured as he fell asleep.
The End.
Eau de Guilt: A Corbin’s Bend short story
Sniffing softly, Brittany Daniels wrinkled her nose. The scents of a variety of her boyfriend's favorite dishes filled the air. It distinctly smelled of guilt to her. And that was bad. If she could smell it, he was sure to. Trevor was easy going and the best man she had ever met, but he seemed to take this whole discipline thing a lot more seriously than she did.
Not that she felt guilty. Not in that way, anyway. After all, it was just a couple little white lies. Tiny. Microscopic really. Not worth mentioning. And after yesterday…well, if she wasn't able to butter up her man before he found out? The spanking he gave her on Sunday would look like a walk in the park compared to what he would hand her.
Opening up the
oven to check and make sure the lasagna was on track, she closed it again and wandered into their bedroom, glancing in the mirror for the tenth time in the last hour. That she was wearing the blouse he bought her for her last birthday and the tight jeans that always drew a whistle from him had not been a mistake. But were they a bit too obvious?
Unable to actually look herself in the face, she wandered back into the living room and sat down, distinctly aware of her behind. Moving to Corbin's Bend, Colorado, had been Trevor's idea. His cousin Brent was one of the founding members and as the two of them were spankos, he thought it was the perfect move for them. She hadn't minded. And when he brought up domestic discipline she had been all for it. After all, she had been reading DD romances for years. All those heroes and heroines got all hot and heavy after a spanking.
She could get into that.
When Trevor sat down with her on their first day and discussed with her the two rules he felt were most important to follow, she had been fine with both of them. No lying and no drinking without his permission. Well, the second kind of came from the fact Brittany tended to get out of control when she drank and he was the only one who could pull her up short. It all sounded so simple and as they had moved in only six weeks previous, it had been very blissful.
Until last weekend.
She thought she knew all about spanking as he spanked her during sex all the time. But on Sunday he caught her in what he called a lie and she called oversight, and for the first time asked her to bend over his lap. Even over the cotton pajamas she was wearing, that shit stung. Badly. How could anyone's hand hurt that much? Even worse, he warned her that if she lied again, he would be using the paddle his cousin had given him upon moving in.
It had never been a conscious decision to lie to him, but there were just some things she didn't see why she had to tell him. Surely that wasn't the same thing? But it wasn't the little fibs that had her nervous now. No, it was the fact that yesterday he had gone to Denver to watch football with some of his college buddies. They didn't have a television in their place as neither of them was particularly fond of it, but for New Year's, he wanted to go be rowdy for a while. It made sense to her and she had intended to do a day of girlie stuff. Bath. Waxing. Masking her face. She hadn't intended for the day to go so wrong.
