“There is for what we want, baby. It’s called marriage. Will you marry us?”

“Like for real? With a ring and a minster and everything?” she asked.

“With a ring on your finger and leathers on your back,” Ajax said before Murdock could answer.

Murdock chuckled. “Man, I’m supposed to be asking her while you keep her so worked up she can’t say no. You’re slacking down there, buddy.”

Ginger forgot all about Murdock’s injury and threw herself into his arms, pulling his head down to her for a kiss. Then she reached down and pulled Ajax up to her by his ears and kissed him as well. Both men groaned, but neither of them complained.

She realized that she hadn’t given up on her plans and goals at all. She’d just altered them to include love. Now she would have the home and family she had wanted as well as a career that gave her purpose. Even if she didn’t go back to school to become an EMT or paramedic, she would still have everything she’d wanted when she was growing up because her ultimate goal had been to be loved for who she was and not what she could do for them. In Ajax and Murdock she had that in spades.

As Ajax unwrapped himself from her hold, Murdock slipped a ring on her finger. She didn’t care what it looked like or how much it cost. All that mattered to her was that she belonged to them and they were all hers. Sometimes the best laid schemes of mice and men didn’t work out exactly like they were expected to, but unlike in Robert Burns’s poem, where he felt no future lay ahead of him, Ginger’s future lay in the bed with her. She started out with one goal in life, to matter to someone as more than what she could do for them. Instead, she ended up with two goals. To Ajax and Murdock she mattered for more than having high utility value. They had made her the most important person in their lives. Nothing would get in her way of loving her two bikers for the rest of her life.
