I took a step back, unsure whether to attack her or think of her as an ally. Could she be one of Rowan’s soldiers?
“Did you have sex with that thing in the room?” she asked casually. Moving her gaze away from me, she walked toward the gancanaugh’s corpse. “You did a great job with this one,” she said in a tone that suggested she was commenting on a cake I’d just baked. “Even his bones have melted.” She kneeled down to take a closer look. “Too bad those damn teeth are still stuck to his face.”
“Who are you?” I asked. My magic stayed steady, not detecting any kind of malice from this strange woman but I was still alert. Zane, the gancanaugh, had taught me a lesson tonight I wasn’t going to forget easily.
The stranger straightened and came back to stand before me. “I would love to tell you who I am but it would take quite a bit of time to explain. So, for now, this will have to do.” With a sudden move, she blew a cloud of sparkling dust at my face.
I stumbled back, swatting at the glittering particles but knew my effort to avoid them was useless. Some of the dust entered my nostrils and immediately took effect. The strength in my arms and legs waned, making me collapse on the floor. However, strong arms came to hold my body, protecting me from the fall.
My lips felt too heavy to move them.
I blinked up at the stranger and focused on her emerald-like eyes. The kind expression in them surprised me even as I was on the brink of losing my consciousness.
“Rest now, sweetheart,” she said in a gentle whisper. “I won’t let these bastards hurt you anymore.”
I tried to call on my magic but failed. My vision blackened but the woman’s sweet voice still lingered in my ears. Was she a friend or foe? I would know only if I ever woke up again…
Ready for the next part in Moira’s journey?
Dear Reader,
Thank you so much for reading until the end. I hope you enjoyed the story and would consider leaving a short review on Amazon. Even a simple “I liked it” will make my day!
The next book in the series should be out by the end of next month if all things go as planned. *Fingers crossed* This year really isn’t shaping up to be one where you can set up concrete goals. Never know when the universe decides to throw an unexpected turn on my path. Still, I will do the best to bring you the sequel as soon as possible.
I already have the cover ready for it too! Here’s a glance:
Looking for a completed paranormal series to read until the sequel is ready? Try my Assassin and her Dragon Princes series. It is reverse harem romance with a kick-ass heroine and three sexy dragon shifters.
Do you also enjoy reading contemporary series? Try my latest completed series. The main MC is forced to work as a hacker for the mafia. This is a RH romance too.
Lastly, I hope you enjoyed the story and would consider leaving a short review on Amazon.
