He shrugs. “I’m not against getting a place if there’s a reason to get one.”
“And I’m a reason?” When our eyes meet the electricity exchanged between us is almost overpowering.
“You’re one of the only reasons.”
“I think we need to get to know each other a lot better first.”
“I’ll take what I can get…for now.”
I want to ask him what he means by for now, but he looks so serious it sends a shiver right through me.
I breathe a small sigh of relief when our meals are served and it takes the spotlight off of the two of us and any future Leo thinks we might have together. My only future right now is one day at a time and making sure I don’t take a drink of alcohol.
“Remember that you promised to give me a bite of your lobster.” When Leo licks his lips I get the feeling my lobster isn’t the only thing he wants a taste of.
I place a small piece of the crustacean on my fork and try to hand it to him, but he shakes his head.
“I thought you wanted to try it.”
“I do.” He opens his mouth.
“That’s how you want to play this?”
“Definitely.”
I shove the forkful of food into his mouth in the least sexy way possible.
Once he chews and swallows he says, “It’s good. Maybe you’ll feed me something else later.”
I gulp. All I can think about now is how skillful he was when he put his tongue between my legs.
When I glance at my watch I quickly do the math. Holy shit! It’s been over a hundred hours since I’ve had sex. I haven’t had a dry spell this long since high school.
It would be so easy to fuck Leo. The problem is what he might expect afterwards. If I knew it would be just a quick, one-time thing I’m horny enough right now that I’d probably go for it. But he’s talking about moving in with him. The idea of cohabitation is not only completely ridiculous because we hardly know each other, but is also not something I’m in any way ready for.
I need to focus on getting my shit together first. I need to make sure I stay sober, before I think about any long-term commitments. And I’m not sure I just want to be a live-in lay. I want to be someone who deserves to be loved.
Leo looks like a lost puppy. “Why are you looking at me like that?” I ask.
“Can I have another bite of that lobster?”
I notice that he’s already devoured his steak and I’ve only taken a few bites of my food.
“Are you still hungry?”
“A little…” He eyes the lobster like a starved dog eyes a bone.
I cut a huge piece of what’s left of the lobster and place it on his plate.
“It’ll taste a lot better if you feed it to me.”
I glare at him. “Seriously?”
“It doesn’t hurt to ask.” He gives me one of his sexy grins.
“You do realize there are times when you’re like a kid in a grown man’s body.”
He laughs. Oh, that laugh of his. It gets me every time. I get tingly everywhere. “You’re not the first person who’s said that.”
I cut the lobster into smaller bite-sized pieces. Then I stab my fork into one of the pieces and feed it to him.
“Happy?”
He chews and nods at the same time. “Mmm…”
I have to admit that feeding Leo is a bit erotic. Once I’m done a sexy grin creeps over his face. “I hope you’ll feed me something better later.”
I smack his arm. “I thought you were going to be a good boy.”
“I can be really good between your legs,” he whispers. “That can be my dessert.”
My entire body heats with the thought of his tongue inside of me.
“Are you getting wet thinking about it?” he asks.
I can feel my face flush, so there’s no point in lying. So I nod.
There’s that twinkle in his eye again. In that moment I realize that for Leo, once or even once again, will never be enough. He’ll always crave more.
And I will too.
“We can’t…”
He laughs. The son-of-a-bitch laughs again. And that turns me on even more. “We can. You just won’t let go and let it happen.”
“I can’t just let it happen,” I spit between clenched teeth. “Your dick would just be the beginning of a rapid descent right back into my addiction.”
His eyes turn serious. “I would never let that happen.”
Leo’s generally not serious so this gets my attention. “You can’t stop me from drinking.”
Raising an eyebrow he replies, “Wanna bet?”
“Don’t be so cocky,” I warn. “You have no idea how big of a lush I can be.”
“I’m not being cocky.” His face is still serious and it’s now beginning to scare me a bit. “I’m bigger and stronger than you. If you truly don’t want to drink again I’m not going to let you. Period.”
I gulp. I haven’t even been out of rehab a week and I’m already being tempted by Leo’s magnificent dick.
And his oh-so-skillful tongue.
“I’ll think about it…” The words get caught in my throat again.
“Maybe this will help to convince you.” He slips his hand between my legs and I gasp when he glides it up my thigh.
“Shh,” he urges. “We don’t want everyone in the restaurant to know I’m fingering you.”
Luckily we’re seated in the back of the place and far enough away from the other tables that we’re not attracting undue attention.
Not that anyone else is actually paying any attention to us. They’re all wrapped up in their own conversations.
“You’re already so wet,” he whispers as his fingers move over the thin material of my thong.
Before I can stop him, he moves the thong out of the way and slips two fingers inside of me.
“Shhh.” He tries to quiet me when I let out a low moan.
For a few moments I let go and enjoy Leo fingering me while patrons around us enjoy the fine dining of the posh five star restaurant.
Just as I come very close to climaxing Leo stops and gives me a sexy grin. “I’ll save the rest for later,” he whispers. “When I can slide my dick inside of you.”
I can’t remember being so turned on in my entire life. I’m dizzy with desire. I want Leo inside of me so badly I ache.
The remaining minutes we spend in the restaurant are a blur. All I can think about is having Leo inside of me again. His magical fingers, his tongue, his cock. I’m starving for him.
Once we’re finally outside in the cool night air I take in a deep, calming breath.
What are you doing? I chide myself. So much for turning over a new leaf. I’m right back to my old habits.
Leo can’t seem to get into the car fast enough and after we’re both seat-belted in I place my hand on his. “Wait.”
He turns to me. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m not a slut. At least I don’t want to be anymore.”
He frowns. “I never said you were a slut.”
“You didn’t say I wasn’t either.”
“I don’t get it.”
“I want to be a different person.” I heave a sigh. “That’s not right. I want to be a better person. A better version of Brooke Rhodes. The version that isn’t a slut. The version that can actually go on a date and not fuck the guy afterwards.”
“Any chance you can start that tomorrow?” He raises an eyebrow.
I swat his arm. “That’s what I get after making my confession?”
Now he’s the one who heaves a sigh. “I’d like to be a better person too. The type of guy a girl would want to spend more than one night with. But I’m also horny as hell.”
“You can always fuck Raven,” I tell him, then immediately regret it. “I’m sorry.”
“That’s not happening right now,” he admits. And it tugs on my heartstrings a bit that he actually sounds sad about it.
“Is it possible for people like us just to go o
n a date like normal people? One that doesn’t include sex?”
He laughs. That damn laugh again. It gets me all hot and bothered. How can I tell the guy not to laugh? That his laugh is like waving cheese in front of a hungry rat? His laugh is such a big part of who he is.
“Sex is like the whipped cream and cherry on the ice cream sundae,” he says. “Ice cream is great. So is being on a date with you. But the whipped cream and cherry are what make it fantastic.”
“Maybe we’d better make the first date an ice cream cone and save the sundaes for later.”
“As long as you promise there will be more dates, Wild Child, I’m cool with that.”
I gulp when I realize what I’ve done. I’ve made a promise that I’ll go out with him again. That we’ll actually be dating. And that there will be more.
I’ve never done more before…
Four
Leo
I keep running the tape of our date in my head. Everything about Brooke Rhodes drives me absolutely wild. It was even worth the major blue balls I’m now sporting just to hear her say she’ll go out with me again.
Okay, she didn’t exactly agree to our next date yet, but she didn’t say no either, so I’m taking that as a yes.
I know I had her really close to letting me in her room after I kissed her goodnight at her door. One more roam of her mouth with my tongue probably would have sealed the deal, but I promised I’d be a good boy and I always keep my promises.
Even if I’m horny as hell.
As I pass by one of the massive clocks on the wall I notice it’s only a little after ten. I have little doubt that Xander and Raven will still be awake.
I’m shocked as shit when I turn the handle of our bedroom door and it’s locked. I twist it again just to make sure I’m not crazy, but sure enough it’s still locked.
What the fuck?
I find it hard to believe that Xander and Raven went anywhere. Neither one of them is the going out type. They usually have much more fun spending their time in bed.
When I put my ear to the door I can hear their voices. They’re both talking and laughing. Why did they lock the door?
I pound my fist on the door until Xander finally opens it.
“What the fuck, Dude?” I say as I try to move past him.
To my surprise he doesn’t budge.
“Let me in. I want to go to bed.”
It takes me a moment to realize he’s shaking his head.
“Let me in my fucking room.”
“No,” he states, way too calmly.
“What do you mean no?”
“We thought you’d be staying with Brooke.”
“Well I’m not…”
Xander still doesn’t budge from the doorframe.
“Raven?” I call until I see her peek her head over Xander’s shoulder.
“What’s up?” she asks. She looks flushed and freshly fucked and I’m surprised when I feel a spark of jealousy. It’s not very often that Raven and Xander fuck without me, and they seem to be doing it a lot lately. Ever since Brooke showed up.
“Aren’t you going to let me in?”
Raven’s eyes grow wide in response.
“I’m tired,” I protest. “Let me in.”
Raven gulps before she says, “Not tonight.”
Now I’m the one whose eyes are wide. “What are you talking about?”
“Not tonight,” Xander repeats slower and louder as if I’m some kind of idiot.
“I heard what you said,” I snap. I’m just having trouble believing you said it.
Both Raven and Xander stare at me as if I’m intruding. The three of us have been sleeping together for over a decade and suddenly I’m an intruder. In my own fucking bed.
“Where am I supposed to sleep?”
They both look at the ceiling, the floor, the wall, anywhere but directly at me.
“Forget it,” I turn my back on the two of them before I say something I’ll really regret.
Then I hear the door close without so much as a goodnight.
I know I shouldn’t, but I put my ear to the door and listen for a few seconds. My heart sinks when they start laughing again. Obviously they’re having a great time without me.
As much as I hate to do it I don’t have much of a choice. I make my way to the main house and knock on Rayne and Harper’s bedroom door.
I’m not surprised when Rayne opens the door and he’s in nothing but his boxer briefs. I am surprised when he wipes sleep from his eyes.
“Dude, it’s not even ten thirty.”
“Harper likes to go to sleep early.”
I pantomime a whip and make an exaggerated whipping sound.
He rolls his eyes at me. “I know. I’m whipped.” Then he stares at me for a long moment as if he’s trying to figure out why I’m standing at his bedroom door in the middle of the night.
“I need someplace to sleep.”
His eyes narrow. “You sleep with Xander and Raven.”
“I used to sleep with them. Apparently I don’t anymore.”
He rubs his forehead for a few seconds. “And you’re not sleeping with Brooke.”
“Not yet,” I correct.
“Give me a sec, okay?”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
He shuts to door. A few seconds pass before the door opens again. I’m surprised to see it’s Harper in fuzzy bunny slippers and a gigantic robe that looks about five sizes too big. She looks like she belongs in a cartoon.
“The guest room next to Brooke’s is clean and ready.” She’s much too perky for just waking up. Not that she isn’t too perky most of the time. It just seems to grate on my nerves this late at night.
Or maybe I’m just pissed that everyone has a bed buddy but me.
“Thanks,” I mutter.
“Where’s your stuff?”
I’m not sure why I’m suddenly embarrassed. Not much embarrass me. But I feel like a man without a home.
When she glances down at my empty hands I realize the few belongings I own are still in Xander and Raven’s bedroom. What a friggen weird concept to think of Xander and Raven having a bedroom that doesn’t include me.
“I’ll get it tomorrow,” I try to sound as laid-back as possible, even though it’s still killing me inside.
She bites her bottom lip like she wants to say more, but doesn’t want to at the same time.
“Just say it,” I urge.
“Do you need something to sleep in? Pajamas?”
“Rayne has some I can borrow?” I laugh. The Rayne I’ve known my whole life used to sleep in the nude. I’ve never seen the guy wear pajamas. Of course that was before Harper.
As her face reddens I realize I may have crossed the line just a bit. At least Rayne’s not here at the moment. I don’t want him to punch me for saying something inappropriate to his girl. He’s extremely protective of Harper.
She shakes her head. “No—um—Nic doesn’t…”
“It’s okay. I don’t need pajamas.”
She exhales and then I follow her as she leads me toward the guest bedroom, which is right next to Brooke’s room. My entire body heats when I think about the two of us making out against her bedroom door less than an hour ago.
“There’s one thing I need to tell you,” Harper says as she opens the door and I follow her into the room.
“What’s that?” The place is really decked out. It’s a lot nicer than the room I shared with Xander and Raven in the guest house, and I thought that room was great.
“You share a bathroom with Brooke.”
I do my best to bite back a grin. Talk about being dealt a winning hand. My mind fills with all the ways I can accidently run into Brooke in the bathroom.
Harper wrings her hands. “I just thought you should know. About the bathroom.” She clears her throat. “If you’re not going to wear pajamas.”
I laugh. “Brooke’s already seen me naked. I spent an entire night inside of her.” And oh, what a night it was. I
’m already at half-mast just thinking about it.
When I see she’s frowning I try to be a little more of a gentleman. “I’ll knock on the bathroom door. I won’t just barge in.”
“Good idea.” She glances around the big ass room. It’s as large as the finest luxury suites we’ve stayed in on tour. “If you need anything else, just let me know.”
“I’m good,” I assure her.
“Good night then.” She obviously wants to say more because she’s made no move to actually leave.
“You’re marrying my cousin,” I tell her. “You’re family. You can say whatever you want.”
She gulps. Harper is definitely not like anyone I’ve ever known. In high school good girls like Harper wouldn’t give bad boys like me a second look. And girls like Harper definitely don’t fuck rock stars.
Except for Rayne.
But he’s different.
If he had a family that gave a shit about him he could have gone to college. Probably even Harvard. But then he probably wouldn’t have been a celebrity. Life is weird that way.
Harper rubs the side of her nose then says, “About Brooke…”
I don’t say anything. I wait for her to talk. I want to see where this conversation is going first. I know she and Brooke have been best friends their whole lives, and I imagine she’s protective of her.
“She’s in a vulnerable place right now.”
I nod. “I know.”
“I just don’t want to see you get hurt.”
It takes me a moment to process what she just said. She doesn’t want to see me get hurt? What the fuck? I swear I thought she was going to say she didn’t want to see Brooke get hurt.
“I don’t think you have to worry about that.” I laugh to reinforce my point.
But she’s not laughing. She doesn’t even crack a smile. “I know Brooke. I know how she is with men. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve seen guys fall for her and fall hard. She uses them and spits them back out again.”
“That’s other guys,” I assure her. “That’s not me. I can handle it.”
When she furrows her brow I can see that she clearly doesn’t believe me. “I know you act tough, Leo, but I think you’ve got a big heart. I don’t want to see it get broken.”
“It’s not like that,” I assure her. “We’re just hanging out. It’s casual.”
