“I am pregnant and you’re the dad. What is it going to take for you to understand that?”
“I am not the father of any kid by you! I wish you would stay the hell out of my life,” he says.
Ouch! Now that hurts. He doesn’t want me in his life. How could he be so cruel?
“Do you really want me out of your life?” I ask, as tears start to well in my eyes.
“I can’t stand you and nothing you do or say is going to make me want to take you back,” he says. “For the last damn time, WE ARE OVER! I have moved on and so should you,” he continues.
“I will never move on! We are having a baby and you will step up and be a man about it,” I say.
“Are you retarded or something? Do you have screws loose in your fuckin’ head or something? I WILL NEVER BE WITH YOU! YOU AND I WILL NEVER BE TOGETHER AGAIN!” he says.
Doesn’t he realize that what he is saying is hurting me? Doesn’t he even care how I feel? He is really killing my heart and soul right now. I have never loved any man the way I love Onyx. No matter who I messed around with, he’s the only one for me. Why can’t he get that? Starr will never be able to do the things for him that I used to do. She is just a boring little frump and he deserves me to bring him some excitement.
“Starr isn’t the one for you. When are you going to open your eyes and see that? She can never do for you what I used to do,” I say. I know that I’m beginning to sound desperate but I don’t care. Onyx is the man that I love. He is my everything and I won’t ever give up on us. If it wasn’t for Starr, I would still be in his life.
“Just get the fuck out of my face and stay the hell out of my life Mandy!” he yells and starts to walk away.
“We’re having a baby so that’s gonna be a little hard for me to do,” I say to his retreating back.
He continues walking like he doesn’t hear me. I am not going to be ignored by the man I love. Onyx belongs to me and the sooner he realizes that, the better off he will be. Until he recognizes the part I play and will continue to play in his life, we will constantly have problems.
“I LOVE YOU ONYX!” I yell after him.
He continues to walk, not even bothering to turn in my direction.
“UUUGGGGGHHHHHHH!” I scream out loud.
“Are you okay ma’am?” some blonde haired white girl asks me.
“Does it look like I’m not okay?” I ask her.
I must look like a raging bull right now. I feel mad as fuck at this moment, so I can imagine what I look like to people in the mall who came here to shop.
“Hey don’t get mad at me. I just asked a question,” she says.
“Mind yo fuckin’ business though,” I tell her.
“Whatever,” she says, waving me off.
“Yea whatever bitch,” I tell her.
This bitch has a lot of damn nerve. How she gon’ catch an attitude with me because I have a damn attitude? Whatever is going on with me is none of her fuckin’ business at all. So all she needed to do was go on and do her. Stupid fuckin’ bitch!
I know he isn’t finished shopping because he only has one bag. So, I follow him to the next store. At first he doesn’t see me but after I’ve followed him to the dressing room twice, he finally approaches me. The look on his face is one of a level ten pissed off mood.
“Why the fuck are you following me? Do you know that is considered stalking?” he asks.
“I am not stalking you. I’m only trying to have a conversation with you concerning our child. You’re the one who is out here pretending you don’t know me and acting as if I have herpes or something. I just want to talk to you,” I say.
“Well I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t know what else you want me to tell you but if you don’t leave me alone, I will go to the police and get a restraining order on your ass,” he says.
“A restraining order? Is that even necessary?”
“It seems so. I mean, we dated but now we’re broken up and I’m with someone else. You need to move on and just let this shit go. You and I will never be a couple again. EVER!!” he says.
Wow! After all we’ve been through, this is how he speaks to me; like some lowlife trash from the hood. Any nigga would be more than happy to be with a chick like me. I’m thick, sexy and I have a great sense for fashion. But, Onyx would rather that little boring ass bitch over me. I just don’t fucking get it.
“You don’t mean that. I don’t know why you’re trying to hurt my feelings this way, but it’s not cool. You don’t have to be so mean,” I say.
Like, he is seriously hurting my feelings. It’s almost as if he’s taking a knife and twisting it in my heart. Why would he say such hurtful things to me; the girl he once loved?
“I’m not trying to be mean or hurt your damn feelings Mandy, but you can’t seem to get it through your head that we are done. I wish you would just find you someone else and get out of my damn life. I love Starr and she’s the only one for me. Now, stay the hell out of our lives or I will have no choice but to file a restraining order on your ass!” he says angrily.
He turns to walk away and I say, “It’s not over. I don’t care what you say. We are having a baby and it ain’t over.” Of course, I didn’t say it loud enough for him to hear because I don’t need him trying to break my damn spirit.
I’ma let him think that we’re done, but we ain’t never gone be done. Onyx and I are meant to be together and nothing or no one is going to stand in my way of being with the man I love. He will either see things my way or someone will have to pay the consequences; simple as that. If that bitch is what is standing in the way of him and I being happy, she is just going to have to disappear or better yet, have an untimely and very tragic accident. Either way, that bitch has got to go.
“Starr light, Starr bright, you better enjoy yourself tonight. You better make some wishes and make them right because tonight may be your last time to shine bright. I don’t give a fuck if this shit rhymes or not. As long as I can get that bitch out the way so I can have my man back, that’s all I care about,” I say.
Now I gotta think of what I can do to get rid of the little bitch so I can have my man. Right now, I am on my way inside the mall. I followed him here earlier. So, it won’t hurt anyone to accidentally bump into him, right?
CHAPTER FOUR
Onyx
I am going through the stores looking for some new duds for graduation and my party tomorrow. It takes me a while at first because I’m not sure what I want to wear, but soon I settle on a pair of Polo slacks and a black long sleeve Polo dress shirt with a purple tie. I love the way it looks on me as I look at myself in the men’s fitting room.
After I’ve paid for my clothes, I exit Macy’s and head for the food court. I’m hungry as hell and I need to get something to eat. On my way to the food court, someone bumps into me. Imagine my surprise when I see that the person that bumped into me is Mandy’s crazy ass. I immediately take two steps back and try to go around her ass. She jumps in my way and stares at me with one hand on her hip and the other on her belly, which ain’t even swollen or nothing. I don’t even think this damn girl is pregnant at all.
“Man, get away from me,” I say.
“Why you acting this way?” she asks.
“Why are you insisting on being in my life when you aren’t welcome here?” I ask her.
“Why do you keep denying the importance of us being together when we’re having a child together?”
I start looking around because I know she must be speaking about some other nigga.
“Girl get the fuck outta here with that shit. You know damn well we are not having any kid together. As a matter of fact, I don’t even think that you’re pregnant. I think this is just some ploy to try and break up me and Starr, but guess what. It ain’t gonna work. You and I will never, ever be together again,” I tell her.
“How can you say such mean things to the mother of your first born child?” she cries.
I can’t believe she is making such a scene in this
mall. People are slowing their pace so they can look at us with their big eyes and open mouths. She knows that people are nosey and like to mind other folks business around here, yet her she is, making such a mockery of our lives.
“You need help. I really believe you need to call someone and make an appointment; a therapist or something. There is no way I would have ever gotten you pregnant, especially since we always used protection,” I say.
“Accidents happen and condoms aren’t a hundred percent. As smart as you are, you should know that,” she says.
“Look, if you want me to, I will go to the courts and file a restraining order on your ass because I really feel as if you’re stalking me. I refuse to have you following me around town for no damn reason. I’m with Starr now and we are not going to let your triflin’ ass break us up,” I say.
“A restraining order? How you gonna get a restraining order against your baby mama?”
This girl is absolutely insane. I seriously think she has some screws loose somewhere because she can’t mean the shit she’s saying.
“YOU ARE NOT MY BABY’S MAMA!” I yell just a little too loud.
I have got to get away from this girl because if I don’t, I may hit her. I have never hit a chick before in my life. As a matter of fact, I’ve defended chicks who were getting beaten. I have never wanted to hit a chick as much as I want to hit Mandy at this moment. She just makes me sick. Why can’t she just move the fuck on? I don’t want her, at all. I have already found the girl I want to be with and it ain’t her.
“Stop saying that! This is your baby and I need you to get on board because we need you,” she says.
Right now, I am at a loss for words. I am not going to waste any more of my precious time arguing with someone who obviously has no sense of reason. Something has clearly happened to her between the time we broke things off and now, because this is not the same girl I once knew. I would have never dated her had she behaved this way.
I don’t bother to answer her. Instead, I make my way around her and just keep walking.
“YOU CAN’T RUN AWAY FROM US! I AM HAVING THIS BABY WHETHER YOU WANT ME TO OR NOT!” she yells after me. I don’t acknowledge her at all and just keep walking. What the hell goes on in the mind of a crazy person? Do they just become unglued all of a sudden or does it happen over time?
I don’t know what it is but something is definitely wrong with that chick. She better find out what before I end up hurting her. I finish my shopping, all the while feeling eyes on me as I move from one store to the next.
When I’m done with my shopping, I exit the mall and make my way to my car. When I get there, I can see a white piece of paper on my windshield. I wonder if it’s a ticket because I’m not illegally parked or anything. I pick the paper off the glass and open it. I should have known it was from that bitch, Mandy. As I am reading the stupid note, I can feel her eyes on me. The note reads: I love you and we are having a baby so you may as well get on board. Your precious Starr won’t want you when she finds out that we’re PREGNANT! You would want to make me happy during this pregnancy so I don’t miscarry.
She is seriously losing her fucking mind. I look around and finally spot her standing a couple of cars over with one hand on her hip and the other on her stomach. I don’t know why she keeps putting her hand on her stomach; she ain’t even showing or nothing. She walks over to me as I am putting my shopping bags in the car.
“I don’t know why the fuck you left that stupid ass note on my damn car, but I won’t ever be with you. You need to just move on and let this go because I have. I’m with Starr now,” I say.
“You won’t be with her for long. After she finds out about this baby, she will run away from your ass immediately,” she says.
“For your information, she already knows about your “pregnancy” and we are still together. Get it through your head. She and I will always be together and unless you move on, you will always be alone,” I tell her.
“What? She knows?”
“Yes she knows and we’re still together,” I say.
“You’re lying,” she says.
“What the hell I gotta lie for huh? It makes no sense to lie about that shit. She knows you are supposedly pregnant and she doesn’t care,” I say.
“I know you’re lying. You couldn’t have told her if she’s still with you. And what chick doesn’t care that her man got another chick pregnant? You didn’t tell her,” she says.
“Look, I don’t have time for this shit. I have to go pick up my girl in a couple of hours. Go find you a man and if you’re pregnant, your baby’s daddy. We are done!”
I slip into the driver’s seat, back out of the parking spot and burn off on her ass. She is left standing there looking ridiculous. I don’t know what it’s going to take to get her to back the hell off.
CHAPTER FIVE
Starr
Once school is done for the day, I head outside to wait for my boo. Onyx is the most wonderful boyfriend in the world. He’s an awesome guy and I don’t know how we never dated before now. I guess I just was scared of losing the closeness of our friendship and was scared to complicate it. But as it turns out, those many years of friendship only made our relationship stronger. The bond between he and I is stronger than ever before.
I push open the door that leads to the parking lot but don’t see his car yet. It’s cool. I turn to my friends from the basketball team and start talking to them to kill the time. LaShay is also a junior but Stephanie is a sophomore. It doesn’t matter that Stephanie is a year behind us because we have so much in common. These chicks are both pretty cool.
“So, is Onyx excited about graduating tomorrow?” LaShay asks.
“Forget graduating. Is he excited about this party he’s having? This is going to be the party of the century,” Stephanie says.
I bust out laughing. “He’s actually excited about everything. He can’t wait to walk across that stage and receive his diploma. And his party is definitely about to be live as hell, so you know he’s excited about it. Hell, I’m even excited and it ain’t even my party,” I say as we crack up.
“I know right. Everybody is going to be there,” Stephanie says.
“Have y’all heard from that crazy ass ex-girlfriend of his?” LaShay asks.
“Ugh! That bitch is trying to make our lives hell girl. Do you know she actually told Onyx that she’s pregnant by him?”
“What! That hoe ain’t pregnant! That bitch will say anything to keep a man,” LaShay says.
“Speaking of bitch,” Stephanie aims her gaze towards the parking lot.
Oh my God! What is she even doing here? She finished school since week before last and she isn’t even participating in the graduation ceremony. She has no reason to be on campus, especially not today.
“I wonder what she’s doing here,” Stephanie says.
“I have no idea. She isn’t even a part of the graduation ceremony tomorrow night,” I say.
“She’s cray cray,” LaShay says.
“That’s something we can all agree on,” I say as we burst out laughing.
Onyx pulls up and I say my good byes to the girls. As I cross over to the parking lot to meet him, Mandy jumps out of her car. She rushes over to me before I can make it to Onyx’s car and is all up in my face.
“So, did you know that I’m pregnant with your man’s baby?” she asks.
“Whatever,” I say, trying to make my way around her.
“What is wrong with you? Why are you still with him knowing that I’m carrying his kid?” she taunts.
Onyx gets out of his car and makes his way over to us. Her face takes on a sinister look; almost as if the crazy is coming out of her.
“What the fuck are you doing here Mandy?” Onyx asks.
“I just wanted to make sure your “girlfriend” knew that I was pregnant and that she needs to walk away. I mean, I’m having your first born so I’m sure she would want you to do the right thing and help raise your first child. Only a B
ITCH would want to keep a man from his first child,” Mandy says as she puts her hand on her belly.
“You are not pregnant by me. I don’t think you’re pregnant at all,” Onyx says.
“What’s the matter? Your girlfriend can’t speak?” she asks.
“I can speak just fine and I know that you aren’t pregnant with his kid. You’re probably faking it just so he will go back to you. But that ain’t going to work bitch. He’s with me and he’s going to stay with me so whatever little thoughts you had about the two of you getting back together, you can forget about it. I’m here to stay bitch,” I tell her. She wanted me to speak up so there, I spoke up. I hate coming out of character and I hate that this girl can make me act the fool this way win front of my friends, but she brings out the worst in me.
Onyx puts his arm around my waist and tells her, “Just give it up. You will never have me, no matter what you do.”
“WHAT DOES SHE HAVE THAT I DON’T?” she yells.
“Me; she has me,” Onyx says.
I just stand there and smile, but I know something that will piss her off even more.
“Ooohhh babeeeee!” I gush at Onyx as I turn to him and give him a kiss. The crowd goes crazy with the oohs and aahs as she stands there looking like she’s about to throw up everywhere.
Out of nowhere, this bitch screams and grabs me by my hair and starts hitting me. It doesn’t take me long to start swinging back at her and the two of us are in am all out war. We are slapping and punching and screaming in the parking lot at the school. She finally loses her balance and falls backwards on the ground. Now, I could have climbed on top of her ass and continued smashing her face in, but I decide to be the bigger person and walk away.
“You say you’re pregnant, but what pregnant woman puts their child at risk by fist fighting in a damn parking lot? You aren’t pregnant, you’re just out to get a man who doesn’t want you back. Let it go bitch because he will never want you!” I say to her.
She’s lying on the ground crying as Onyx and I get in his car and he drives off. I can’t believe she and I got into another fight. I had no intentions on fighting with anyone when I came outside after the last bell rang, dismissing school for the day. All I wanted was to see my man and find out how his day went. But nooooooo! Leave it to this unhappy bitch to try and ruin my happiness. She is so desperate to get Onyx back that she was willing to fake a pregnancy to do it. It makes no sense. Like, once you end a relationship that should be the end of it. I mean, you can’t force someone who doesn’t want you to be with you. Onyx clearly doesn’t want her. Why can’t she just move the hell on and stay out of our lives.
