A Lesson Page 2

by Markus Grier

Way above your paygrade

  The solution is here

  Come to me

  Fight me not

  The bull will win

Rant and rave to the tune

Glide off like a newly born

  Know Thyself

  Lurking deep within me

  Father of my mistakes

  And mother of my lies

  Raging beneath my skin

  Walking towards embarrassment

  Earning the hell that is

  Life

Resisting none as the urge arises

Mother told us to, to be able to

  Better ourselves

Honey is rich with all the needs

Books to rent lead you to understand yourself

Winning is ever glorious to our young hearts

Money is tied up in the scheme because it takes us away

Marks are made every day that was not there before

Glistening under the moon, release us from this fray

Teachings accumulate as the earth runs its course

Feelings are hurt in the process from both sides of the story

Reeds imprison us, our prison being the ocean floor

Your love might not be true, but why worry

Digging in the mud, we are deemed for failure

School is in session all across our little globe

Whether it be on the streets or in the classroom

Some of the great kings wore purple robes

Asking the bartender for another drink

How did cigarettes come out their mouths?

Look before you leap, haven’t you been taught

Even if heaven is up north, when did hell become the south

Mending our bones from the onslaught

Things happen that need not be

Wisdom is a part of all of us

Why do we sell sacred articles for a fee?

  Life is Majestic

  Honor brings us hope

  The matter never discloses itself

  God laughs at our weakness

  While pride takes over self

The mind, a dimension of its own

Knows no boundaries but the ones

  We set upon it

  Dices are for risk takers

But water is for the ground

  Nourishment is best understood

Than anything scientists has put before us

Believe what you will not practice

So the master leaves you unattended

  Without a fuss

  Society reeks of higher standards

More than any of us can attain

Imagining the truth of a past life

  What is there to explain?

  Living Here

  I love you

  You are my boo

  Living in a dream

  Make you all scream

  Horrors on the bay

  What can I say?

  Loosing myself

  Got no wealth

  Selling not my soul

  Calling me bold

  Relinquish the heat

  Sitting on my seat

  Now kings are here

  Ready to not fear

  Gold is money

  Eating a lot of honey

  Layperson need to learn

  Not always on the fern

  Reading the scimitar

  Nighty at the bar

  Noses in the air

  The woman is fair

  Curses ring out

  Noblemen shout

  Wise arts are good

  Eat the right food

  Muscles never relent

  But tiredness is spent

  Know your own self

  It is good and health

  Understand your life

  You don’t need a wife

  Motions in the park

  What? This is a spark

  Luck

  Know me not?

  The horse is with me

  So still her not

  Reckoned that to be?

  Win again and its dark

  The sun is over here

  Risen from the dead?

  Got you again

This time my spirit shall soar

  Leaving you behind

  Makeshift

  Quickening of the air

  Releases moisture to the unknown

  Mind over body

  What are we shown?

  Masters awaken to the quite

As the great knights battle shadows

Ministry is succumbing after many years

But family remains thick, strangers remain shallow

  Take me by the hand

  Or grab us with water

  Indifference makes us forget

Many that has been eats fodder

East of the sea I go

  Never falling from the hearth

Glad in all that I do

Praise my mother, the giving earth

Don the attire of times past

  Liberal enough to change

But conservative to a point to

  Keep wanted traditions

Will I ever be the one to hang?

  Forgive myself from my heart

  Father of my feelings

  Forever ready to march

I have never paid a shilling

  Muhammad

Lessons learned and a stool shared

In the name of God, the poet

  The musician has risen

The exemplar of a time not yet forgotten

  What did he leave?

  Memory racks us cold

  Wars for a lost cause

  The beacon is still here

And the light will always shine

  New

The Middle East sparks new interests

Rollers pave us a new way, kings leave

  Us with no choice

Mediation rouses new hatred, loyalty starts anew

Flowers are won by a kind heart

Sitting ducks bring about the use of force

States have risen and fallen, who was before us?

Parts become weak, who shall follow, matter its touch

Yeast is ate to a fine perfection, unleavened

Bread is now laid to waste

Change is come at a great price, who won the trophy?

  He ran for the clutch

Nothing is everywhere, and everywhere is nothing

Be as you are, people are roused to speak, find whom you are

  Your enemies will lay low

Silver sparkles in the sunlight, water has a taste

Which is a part of nothing

Diamonds shed light, yes, you give off a glow

  Prospects

Reality lets loose on the toll of man

Sorcery abounds in regions we know nothing of

  Dead people walk on earth

  Every day of our lives

Sparking new debate as pushes come to shove

Leaders run rampant in our culture

Members of clubs think twice about other groups

  Zealous riots spark new interest

  Happiness reign true

As we play a game of hoops

  Sidelines are infested with maliciousness

The rear guard didn’t have a chance, as the Front was torn to pieces

  Dust and blood going everywhere

Mothers crying that their son or daughter was taken

  Locks blow in the breeze

  Women rant their own misgivings

  Blows come to war

  The curtain is raised

  Coldness brings the coffee,

Do not want to start shivering

  Reality

The sole-controller arises from his deep slumber

Souls were still returning from whence they came

Unheard of creatures abound on the shores of existence

Winds blow the unrighteous to hell, heaven on earth would be the same

War has approached from a corner
of the earth

Battles are won and lost, is the water true to its course?

Down goes the woman who has only seen it done before

Driving in a car, cowboys ride on a horse

From death we have seen nothing so far

During life, we put our faith in that which we cannot prove

From polytheism to monotheism, this group has risen

Walk the plank is no more because there has

Been a change to the groove

Dirt has overtaken us all once before

Crying that we will forever change

  Forever be there for somebody

How did we ever come to this, the bird in the sky do not even know

Taken part with friends, joining not with just anybody

  Reform

Mentally, physically, as well as spiritually

The courses to be formed and reaped

For all the souls and lives to help

Stressing in the sun to make all right

Gaining muscles in places no one has ever heard of

Gaining ground on all things good

Tearing down jealously and all evil paths

Enjoying the righteous walk we have vowed to make

Weakening the bonds of the evil one

Even though they don’t always work together

Praising no one in this work but God Himself

Releasing the holds of the nether realm

And all its hosts for a better world

A better paradise we will eventually partake in

  Judging no one but ourselves

Destroying not only the intentions of evil

  But also evil actions themselves

Guide my ways oh my lord

Help all peoples of the earth

  Because we are one

As are the words of God

  Rejoice

  For the new life ahead

For the changes we are to make

For the challenges that we will face

  For they are from God

For the endeavors we are to achieve

For our new outlooks on life

For our guided study from life

  For our new connections

For the help we are to gain

For the honorable mentions we are to receive

For the joy we are to partake of

For the knowledge we are to learn

For the wisdom we are to gain

For the wisdom we are to receive

For the nearness to God we are to attain

  Release

  My time is short

And I am already too deep

  Who is my savior?

To release me from the keep

  Where did I ever go?

  But far away

  Distant from myself

  Following the sway

  My mind has been blown

  Why have I done this?

  There seems to be

  No delight in a wish

  I never knew that

It could get out of hand

  The focus is off

And I'm deep in the sand

  Release me from this

  Father of my essence

Don't let your child stay astray

I have been trapped in a fence

  The rain is pouring harder

  The sun is dried up

I have went from one prison

To the next in a big cup

How do I get out? If I am to be freed I need to do more

To my Devine father I do plead

Who is there to shower me?

  With the water and fire

And all elements that I need

  To get me higher

I have followed my own desires

  Deeply engrossed in self

  Raging a war for evil

  Bathing in wealth

  I need to kill that

  Change many aspects

  Clean up the avenues

  Gain deeper respects

  Clamoring away at nothing

  Hinging on spiritual death

  Managing something devilish

  Losing my health

  Wobbling in the dirt

  Wallowing in inner pain

  Reckoning the time gone

  Running in vain

  Forming the root of chaos

  Revealing and reveling

  In nothing, but shame

  Digging with the shovel

Quitting the game with no fame

  Mapping only doubt

  And losing at my own

  Bulging with a shout

  Reality escaping my touch

Fighting, but going out without a fight

Oh, the savagery I have caused myself

  Everything obscured from sight

  Weakly giving way

To the dungeon of the inner

  A sanctuary that is wrought

With the things of a sinner

  Leaking from my pores

Every corner a devil is there

  Waiting to tear me apart

Eating my blood like a flare

  Oh how drenched I am

  Soaking in my own rain

  Never calming to the storm

  Arriving at no gain

  One polarization to the maximum

  Dying in my pain

  Beaten by the weather

  Will I ever become sane?

Even though I have found my way

  I need to gain momentum

And stay true to the route

  Running away from my sanctum

Softly ever reunited with my desires

  Dear God please help me

  Oh Baha'u'llah be my intercessor

  God help me see

  Over by the pig sty

  Being silly everyday

  The Word is formless

  Will it hold my sway?

  Peeping in the night

  At the demons passing by

  Digging my own grave

Relishing in the personality of shyness

Hear my calls oh maiden of the Sun

  Release my soul

And let me die a glorious death

But to live life with the whole...

Cook me in the sweetest dough

  And top me with icing

  Flying beneath the sky

  The other self forever enticing

  Where shall I go?

  Glowing in the light

  Quitting the ball game

  Below me is the height

  Religion

True reality teems with the aggressiveness of a society

Angry people look towards the horizon for a better day

Kinships abound with justice and rocky roads alike

Towns weep when there is no just way or faith

Lucky are those that aptly pray and watch over their dead

Money sometimes will lead to foolishness and a heart full of deceit

Some folks prey on the weak of heart and never lift themselves

From their holds over the meek

Battles may release stress, but it may go downhill with the oncoming of defeat

Realms repeat themselves in the minds of the scientists

Who do not know any better; they wreak havoc upon the ones they have swayed

Fumes blow in our direction of the many massacres that have taken place

Horses have bellowed and stalls are wrought with fray

Babies have come to double populate the masses

Funny is the one who doesn’t make any sense

Compassion is in the hearts of all people

I use to buy it with a couple of cents

  Earthquakes have destroyed populations

Waking to the thunderous movement from within the earth

Weather can be beautiful to a certain extent

Taking something that is not ours, arising to the hurt

  Remade

The cord to God is here

&n
bsp; A man has arisen

  The new faith has dawned

The spiritual law has always been the same

  God has lent his hand

  The manifestation has risen

  Those who do not hear

  Will be left behind

The new physical law has been made plain

  Remember

  Remember there was a time

  Dancing in the moonlight

Gaining momentum as the beat rises

  Joining bodies in wise embrace

From city to city, as we travel

  Boredom overtakes us

  Dreams comes to past

  Memories rise from the core

We want to be something more,

Maybe of the pace that is fast

Saw the book as we looked in the mirror

Felt our heartbeat, rose on tiptoes

Hung the clothes on a line, the lion went through it

We forever battle our foes, the sun forever glows

Vases are broken, signs are laid to waste

Tables burst forth, heathens look up

Do we look down at the ground?

Thinking hell is here, and pride is in your butts

  Rise Above

Garnishing the reigns as I lay

Down to the focus of all-embracing grace

  Mother of all hope

  And sister of us all

  Mind knows many boundaries

But mine is the process wished for throughout the ages

  Leaning with madness

Hearing the signs as they come

  Mother of all hope

  And aunt of the forsaken

  Listen to me now

  Memories are here to stay

  If only you look deeper

  Scion of Heaven

  Remember the Book

  Holy shall we keep it

  And never throw it up

  Forgetfulness for another time

  Selling majesty for a price

  Secrets for a coin

Put no price on that which is sacred

  Doves climb down

  Knowledge leaves us knowing

  Time and space beckon

To their call, wisdom is free

  World’s shadows hold onto death

Life is in the ones who are real

Hope is not all they live for

Life is special to a certain point

Who is there to know the truth?

But the One who sees, hears, and

  Knows all things

  For he is extraordinaire

  The Beacon of Hope

Tend to fight until the inner struggle is over

Humans enliven themselves with the thoughts

  Of love for another

Whether it be a long life companion, or friends

And family who are with them until they die

They say life could be sweet; we tend to be more attracted

Not to our fathers, but to our mothers

Honor rings true in every person no matter what

Our favorite pastimes might be or those that we have

  Gone through

Mighty is the hands of God, nothing can deter his path
