He was teasing her but Nevada’s eyes were very serious as she said,
“I can imagine nothing more perfect than being with you – only you.”
“ – and our babies,” Tyrone Strome added.
“And there must be lots of them,” Nevada cried, “for they must never be alone as I was, unwanted and miserable because no one wanted my love.”
“That is something that will never happen again,” Tyrone Strome said. “Get something to cover you and for God’s sake put on your litham! Otherwise, if you look like that, I shall have a dozen Sheiks trying to kidnap you and carry you off to their harems!”
“I only want to be in your harem,” Nevada said passionately, then she saw the expression in his eyes and added quickly,
“But there will be no one else there! If you so much as look at another woman, I will – scratch her eyes out – or stab her to death!”
“You may be jealous, my lovely one, but I assure you that you are an amateur in that particular emotion compared to me!”
He put his hand under her chin and turned her face up to his.
“Let me make this clear before I marry you. You will behave properly and circumspectly as my wife, otherwise I shall devise a series of even worse punishments than I have already inflicted upon you!”
Nevada laughed and put her lips close to his.
“Am I still a vixen?” she asked softly.
“You are adorable! Fascinating! Irresistible!” he answered. “And very much a woman!”
It was the answer she wanted and she gave a little sigh of happiness.
“Your woman,” she murmured, “for all time and please – because I love you so very much and want you – desperately, wildly and very passionately, let us get married quickly.”
Then his lips came down on hers and she surrendered herself to the rising fire which consumed them both.
It was part of the beauty of the valley, the pink Kasbahs, the rose-tinted cliffs, the burning sun, the star-strewn sky and the wind blowing from the desert.
It was deep in the soul of love, divine, yet so mysterious and secret it would take them a lifetime to discover the perfection of it.
“You are mine,” Tyrone said masterfully. “Mine so that your thoughts are my thoughts, your heart is my heart and your body is mine from the hairs on your lovely head to the toes on your little feet.”
“I love – adore – and worship you,” Nevada whispered. Her voice broke on the last words, but they were lost against his lips as he held her completely and utterly captive.
