Lorraine was gratified that even the boys looked when she pointed – and they weren’t grinning now. “Up there, all alone – he’s gone crazy! Scary crazy! If he sees any technology, he has to kill whoever has it before he blows up!”

Right then, because being a kid is hard, and being a chubby one is harder still, God threw Lorraine a bone. Cathy Edam’s phone rang. Even the boys screamed.

“Cathy Edam!” hollered Mrs Wilkes. “Give me that phone instantly.” She then looked embarrassed. “Not because of Lorraine’s silly story. You’re not supposed to have it. Rules are rules. You’ll be cleaning pots tomorrow.”

Cathy looked even more horrified now. Lorraine tried not to look too pleased, but Cathy had put chewing gum in her hair that time and no way was it an accident.

“Is he still there?” asked Tina.

Lorraine slowly nodded her head. “Uh-huh. And if you listen late at night, you can hear him – roaring crazy stuff at the moon!”

Three seconds later, even Mrs Wilkes screamed – and would subsequently be unable to justify her actions when subject to an internal review carried out by the school board. She would be put on probation and all school trips would be cancelled for five years, with nobody ever going back to the camp up on Maple Ridge.

What were the words they heard? The words hollered in the distance that so terrified a class of eight graders that they scattered in the woods in all directions, after which the services of the mountain rescue team were required in order to ensure they all eventually made it home safe and sound?

  Free Novella!

  Hi there reader-person,

I hope you enjoyed the book, thanks for taking the time to read it. If you’ve not already had the pleasure, then the Dublin Trilogy books are packed full of Bunny McGarry mayhem - details are on the next page. If you’re one of the hardcore who have already read them then fear not, Bunny will be back in 2019. In the meantime, I have written a novella entitled Smithy’s Revenge and in case you can’t guess, it involves a certain someone wanting to get his own back on the man who dressed him like a leprechaun and hunted him like an animal.
