Cas nodded, gleeful that he was getting information from her. He now understood a little more of Brian’s motivations. He poured her more wine.
“I can understand that. I am a very good doctor.” He said arrogantly, assuring her he was ignorant of her blunder.
“Yeah.” She agreed, sipping more wine. Cas could tell she was comfortable and so decided to ask her something that had been on his mind since they met Hannah.
“So why doesn’t he like humans?” Cas asked.
“He does like humans.” Ashley interjected.
Cas raised an eyebrow and she frowned in response.
“I mean…he doesn’t like humans consorting with werewolves.” Ashley said begrudgingly.
“So did he have a problem with Hannah and I?” Cas asked knowing he was within reach of what he needed to know.
“No, no of course not.” Ashley said too quickly.
Cas narrowed his eyes at her.
“Seriously! No! He…he just…doesn’t like the idea of humans and werewolves consorting together.” Ashley repeated, clearly flustered.
“So what of Hannah and I?” he asked again.
Ashley bit her lip and turned away. “Brian’s complicated.”
“That doesn’t answer my question.”
“Fine! Yes! He didn’t like the idea of you and Hannah together.” She finally blurted out.
Cas nodded, sitting back in his seat. “Do you think that’s why she left me?” he asked, watching carefully for her reaction.
She avoided looking him in the eye. “Maybe. I don’t know.” She paused, wanting to say something else refusing to inch. “You know, even though two people may think they love each other doesn’t mean they’ll be together forever. Sometimes things happen, then people realize what should never have happened in the first place. You and Hannah are worlds apart, let her be, Cas, she deserves that.” Ashley said, gently touching her arm.
Cas stared at her for a minute before moving away. “Hannah wasn’t like that.”
“Well, sometimes people can surprise you in the worst ways.” She said.
“I don’t care. Hannah wasn’t like that.” He repeated, his mask slipping.
“Well, then maybe something scared her. Maybe she didn’t want to deal with a child.” Ashley said, shrugging.
Cas watched her carefully. “If you knew something, you’d tell me, wouldn’t you?” he asked quietly.
She nodded slowly, “I would. But I don’t. I’m sorry Cas but sometimes you should let sleeping dogs lie.” She said.
“I always hated that expression.” He said, annoyed and moving even further from her.
She smiled warily at him, “Funny, I do too. I guess we have more in common than we thought.”
He nodded, fixing the same calculating look on his face. “Yeah I guess we do.”
She smiled at him warmly, his smile though, was stiff and forced. He knew she was lying, but she wasn’t giving the information up as easily as he would’ve liked. He knew he would have to keep working on her, but that didn’t mean he wanted to. He wanted her to tell him where Hannah was now so he could get her and leave this God forsaken town. He knew it wasn’t going to work like that though, and he knew he’d have to amend his plan. Perhaps instead of the few days he was going to use to figure everything out, he would need more to infiltrate the pack. He figured at least he was starting somewhere, but that didn’t necessarily mean he wanted to wait that long to get Hannah back. But if he had to, he’d wait eternity just to see her again.
Chapter7
Hannah had gone to the store on the day she was abducted, the note she left Cas, was real. She needed ingredients for the special dinner she was making for her and Cas that night. Nothing seemed out of place except for the way one of the girls at the supermarket was staring at her. On her way home, a white van (as cliché as that sounds) pulled up to her and took her without leaving a trace. She had been scared and blinded by a bag over her head. She remembered repeating that she was pregnant over and over, hoping that someone would have enough humanity to let her go. But instead she was hit over the head and blacked out.
When she awoke, she was cold, her hands and feet were tied and the bag was still on her head. She was frightened and couldn’t stop the tears that leaked from her eyes. She had tried to scream several times but the gag in her mouth muffled her voice. Finally, after what seemed like hours, someone emerged.
“Hannah…” a voice called, making her already cold skin turn icy with fear. She wiggled around wishing that she had figured out a way to get the mask from her head. The darkness was creating more fear than she felt the situation deserved. Granted, she had been abducted and was now being held captive, but if only she could see, maybe it wasn’t as bad as her imagination had concocted.
“Hannah.” Another voice said, followed a bone shilling cackle.
She cried out, the tears flowing from her eyes, scared and weak.
“Why do you cry Hannah?” the first voice said.
She tried to say something, but the gag in her mouth rendered her speechless. Instead, she cried out again.
“Hannah banana.” The second voice said, the same cackle coming from their throat.
The only thing she could tell was that they were both male and she hoped they would stay far away from her. She could tell they were far because of the distance their voices made.
“When we remove this bag, you will not scream.” The voice ordered.
Hannah tried to move her head in a nodding motion. It must have been good enough because shortly after, the bag was removed.
She was in a dim room that looked underground. In fact, she thought they were in a basement of some sort because of the stone walls and the concrete floor. She was still tied up with a gag over her mouth, but at least now she could see. She had thought it wouldn’t be as scary if she could see, but the more she took in the more frightened she became. There were shackles on the walls and an odd smell was emanating from something in the room. She felt nauseous and dizzy. She desperately wanted to go home. They obviously have taken her for a reason, but she had yet to figure out what it was. She started at their feet taking in the black doc martens on their feet. She slowly moved up their bodies with her eyes taking in the all-black outfit and the male bodies. She finally came to rest on her face, surprised to see that they were vaguely familiar. She recognized them from when Cas had taken her to the mansion where the wolves resided. She shivered in fear and looked away from their blank faces taking in more of the room with wide frightened eyes.
“Welcome to your new home, Hannah.” One of them said.
She felt large tears threatening to fall down her cheeks and she bit her gag so as not to let them fall. The tears deceived her anyway and they made their slow trail down her face.
“Aww, is little Hannah banana crying?” The second one mocked.
She looked away, not wanting them to see her cry.
“Better get used to it. You aren’t going anywhere for awhile.” The first one said before shoving her backwards and into the corner. She tried to fight back but knew it was no use. She had nowhere to run to. She didn’t even know where she was. She also knew they probably had the key and they’d kill her before she reached the door.
“We’ll be back.” They said, then turned to leave the room. Hannah let the tears fall once they left. She couldn’t believe this was happening. She desperately wished Cas was there or at the very least, knew why they were doing this. She didn’t know what she had done wrong. What was going on? She cried until she was too exhausted to be awake any longer.
What seemed like mere minutes later, must have been hours. The door to the stone room opened and two people stepped in: Ashley and Brian. She remembered them clearly since she had met them and Cas had told her he didn’t like them. Her two capturers were guarding the door as the siblings entered the room, taking in Hannah laying on her side, the tears marring her face.
“Hannah.” Brian greeted her, crouching down to look
at her closer.
He looked her in the eye for a few minutes before he reached around the back of her head and undid the knot so the gag came loose. Hannah spit the loosened material from her mouth and it fell to the floor. She took several deep breaths and then glared up at Brian with stone cold eyes.
“What the fuck.” She snarled, glad she was angry now instead of scared and crying. She would die before she cried in front of this man.
He smirked, sensing her fury. “Why good morning, Hannah.” He said ignoring her statement.
Ashley matched his smirk as she stood behind him, arms crossed. “Welcome.” Ashley said opening her arms and twirling around on the dirty floor. “Do you like it?” Ashley asked enthusiastically.
Hannah looked at her incredulously as Brian laughed.
“She can be such a pistol, my sister.” Brian said looking lovingly towards her.
Hannah gaped at both of them. They were acting like they were having a tea party instead of having just captured her and were visiting her in the basement.
“Where am I?” she asked once she had recovered from her shock at their behavior.
“Where are you…” Brian mused, the smirk still on her face.
“Yes.” Hannah snarled wanting to sit up and move away from him, but her ropes were still holding her and it hurt to move. Her body was sore from sleeping on the floor and she really wanted a hot bath and some food.
“We brought you some food.” Ashley said, looking towards the two guards who magically produced a plate.
“Ashley made it.” Brian said taking the plate and setting it on the floor for her.
Hannah wondered how they expected her to eat it when she didn’t have any utensils or the use of hands. Then she wondered if the food was poisoned. She figured though, if they wanted her to die she would already been dead.
“What are you doing?” Hannah asked, not knowing what to make of the situation.
“Waiting for you to eat.” Brian said gleefully.
“I need my hands.” Hannah said stubbornly.
“Not really.” Ashley said, rubbing her hands together happily.
Hannah’s eyes widened and her anger rose to the surface.
“You expect a pregnant woman to eat as if she were a dog? Are you serious?” Hannah asked incredulously.
“Very. You can either eat like that or you can not eat. Although, I know that eating is very important for a woman with a growing fetus inside her.” Brian said, smirking enjoying the show Hannah was putting on.
“I…I’m not doing that. This is inhuman!” she shrieked angrily.
“Well lucky for you, we aren’t human so we aren’t breaking any stereotypes.” Brian said nudging the plate forward and watching as she tried to decide.
“Eat up little human.” Ashley teased.
“Why are you doing this? What did I do?” Hannah whispered trying to hold on to her anger so she wouldn’t start crying again.
“You’re human.” Ashley stated.
Brian sighed and glanced at his sister. “She probably needs more of an explanation, Ash.”
Ashley rolled her eyes and huffed in response.
Brian smirked and turned back to Hannah who was watching the exchange.
“The thing that is growing inside of you. That’s an abomination, Hannah.” Brian began as her mouth dropped open in horror. Her mind went immediately to them cutting the child out of her. She wiggled in response, afraid he would produce a knife out of no where and began to surgically cut into her. Suddenly, Brian’s hand shot out and stopped her movements. She stared at him, frightened, waiting for him to cut into her. He smirked as if sensing her fear.
“Don’t worry, Hannah, we aren’t going to kill you. We’re waiting until you give birth, and then we’ll kill you.” Brian said, watching her reaction.
“Waiting for me to give birth?” Hannah asked startled.
“Your and Cas’s relationship is wrong. It should never have taken place and now that you are pregnant, we want to see what happens to a child of both a human and werewolf.” Brian said standing up and looking down at her with disgust.
“Now eat up.” He said, kicking the plate into her face. She spit the food from her mouth. Tears began to pour from her eyes again and the siblings laughed, walking out of the basement. Hannah slowly took in her situation. They wanted to experiment on her baby? And where the fuck was Cas? Or at the very least wondered where she was? It wasn’t rocket science to figure it out. She cried herself to sleep again that night.
Chapter8
Hannah had lost count of how many days she had been in the basement. Food was brought to her every day and eventually, after she continuously passed out, she started to eat it. On most days she was only brought one meal and only allowed to use the bathroom once per day. She was frequently visited by Ashley in her dungeon room. Ashley enjoyed teasing her and telling her how Cas was with her now. How he loved her now. How they would have their own child together. She also liked to tell her how she was going to be killed and where the child was going to be raised. Hannah had began to tune her out knowing she was delusional, but sometimes her words got through to her. Sometimes she wondered if she was going to die here. Most nights, she dreamed of Cas and the baby. She pretended that she was OK and that her and Cas were happy together. She pretended that she would see her child grow up and live to be over a hundred. Mostly she tried to stay hopeful that someone would find her. When she wasn’t eating, she would hallucinate that Cas would come save her.
As the weeks passed, Hannah became bigger. She was trying to take care of herself as best as she could, but she was still tied up and ate food that wasn’t healthy. On occasion, she was hurt by Ashley, who liked to hit her when she became mad or when Hannah talked back. After awhile Hannah just stopped responding and stared at the same spot in the wall, going over baby names in her head. All Hannah wanted was to escape. She needed to escape. That’s all she could concentrate on. All she wanted was Cas and their child safe and away from the deranged people who had captured her and her baby.
Hannah was awoken by vicious cramps. She had never felt such pain in her entire life. At first, she thought it was because she was held captive and her body was finally starting to rebel. She had not eaten as much as she should’ve and she’d been treated terribly. Her abductors knew when she got out of here, she was going to make them pay. Granted, she’d been tied up, tortured, food dumped on her and other things too shameful to mention; but, she would survive and she would see Cas and the baby, she hoped.
Hannah didn’t know what to do about the pain except to call for help. She didn’t expect anyone to come, but at the very least, she could try. The pain worsened and then she felt a wetness between her legs. Her screaming intensified and suddenly, the door burst open and Cas came through as if by magic.
Hannah stared at him in shock, her screams dying in her throat.
“Cas!?” she gasped staring at him in awe.
He ran to her without saying a word. Just as he got there another spasm of pain shot through her.
“Where have you been? How did you get in here? What the fuck is going on? What the hell!” she rambled, amazed and disturbed to see him. She let out a low groan as another pain shot through her.
He kissed her, not answering any of her questions and held her gently to his chest.
“Is it really you?” she whispered, not sure if she should believe her eyes.
“Of course. Of course.” He whispered, peppering her face in kisses.
“But…I just…where have you been?” she rasped.
“It’s a long story. I’ll tell you later. I’ve been looking for you for months.” He said kissing her again.
She laughed as she began to cry, not knowing if she was happy he’d found her or sad they’d been away from each other so long.
“Oh God. Hannah you’re having the baby.” Cas said, as another spasm shot through her.
She shuddered and looked at him confused. “What? How? What? Her
e? No!” she said trying to stand up. But whether from the pain or the unfamiliar use of her legs, she collapse into his arms.
“We’ll just have to do it here.” He said, trying to be strong for her and his child.
“Cas, no, what if they come back?” She whispered.
He shot her a disturbed look. “No one’s going to interrupt us. I promise. We’ll be fine here.” He said, lifting her dress up and seeing the child crowning.
“Is this normal? Should it be going this fast?” she asked, screaming as another wave of pain hit her.
“Hannah I’m going to need you to push.” Cas instructed.
“But—“
“Now!”
Hannah began to push with all her might and after several long minutes she suddenly heard a baby crying. But she felt confused: she could hear Cas talking gleefully and the baby crying. She looked over to them as her vision swam. She frowned feeling funny all of a sudden, and then, without warning, her eyes rolled back into her head and she collapsed onto the concrete ground. Cas turned from cutting the umbilical cord to seeing Hannah passed out, blood pouring from her wound.
