Believing in Tomorrow Page 31

by Kimberly Rae Jordan

“Levi, I was initially speechless when I realized what was happening a few minutes ago, but that’s not the case now.” She took a deep breath as she felt her smile falter under the weight of the emotions building within her. “A year ago, I thought I knew what love was, but somehow I managed to misunderstand it even with the great example I had in my parents. It wasn’t until our lives began to intertwine that I could see what love really means for me—and that is you. It isn’t the proposal or the wedding or even the plans for the future. It’s us, facing the world together with God as our guide. I love you, Levi, and I look forward to spending not just today with you, but all of our tomorrows, too.”

When the pastor pronounced them husband and wife a short time later, Levi drew Sammi close. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he bent so they could kiss. As his lips lingered on hers, as the familiar scent of his cologne enveloped her, Sammi knew she was were she belonged. Everything she’d ever dreamed of was right there in his arms. The tenderness of his kiss. The strength of his embrace.

Though not long ago she hadn’t had much anticipation for her future, Sammi now had every reason to believe that embracing God’s will for her and Levi’s life together—even more than they embraced each other—would give them hope for a lifetime of joy-filled tomorrows.
