“What up? You got my cut?” he asked, referring to his percentage of her night’s earnings.
His comment pissed Mimi off. He always tried to pull his pimp card when he got around his niggas. But she concealed her attitude as she reached in her bra, pulled out her money and handed it over to him. She figured that she would choose her battles wisely. Besides, this one would be over soon. Tasha had told her that she would split her sixty percent from the safe with her and Halleigh, so that they would at least have something to get them started once they were no longer working for Manolo. So, Mimi wasn’t tripping over that money she had just given to Manolo.
She looked around at Halleigh and Tasha, who were sitting with one other Manolo Mami. Observing their smug expressions, Mimi could tell that they were feeling the same way she was—thick. They finally had the upper hand on Manolo, and he was so stuck on himself that he didn’t even realize it.
Everybody was loose in the club, and Manolo was talking big as usual. They partied for hours, and at midnight, the club was popping off proper. Tasha checked her watch and knew what time it was. She scanned her surroundings discreetly. If everything was going according to plan, Troy would be there any minute.
Less than five minutes later, the club was flooded with uniformed police officers. They stormed into the club with their weapons drawn. A couple of screams erupted throughout, but few people were scared. Everyone put up their hands and watched nosily to see how the scenario was going to play out.
“Everybody on the ground! Now!” Troy screamed as he made his way to the VIP section with his fellow officers right behind him.
Manolo was enraged. I’m paying this mu’fucka to turn his head to my business and he coming in here on some bullshit? He stood to his feet.
“Fuck is going on, man? Thought we had a deal!” he spat as Troy approached.
Troy grabbed Manolo’s arm and twisted him around, forcing him to lean over the table. The Shottah Boyz reached for their pistols, but decided against it. They knew better than to catch a case by trying to come to Manolo’s defense. Troy applied the bracelets to Manolo’s wrists and then pulled a search warrant from his back pocket.
“Fuck is you doing coming up in here? Fuck you looking for?” Manolo yelled.
“Turn this place inside out,” Troy commanded as the police squad spread throughout the club.
Troy wanted to make it look good, so he didn’t go to the safe right away. He searched the club for about twenty minutes before he discovered the safe that, of course, Tasha had already informed him of. “Jackpot, boys! Let’s take him in to be processed,” Troy announced. He placed the bricks in a duffel bag along with the money, and then headed out of the club.
Tasha looked at Halleigh and Mimi. The satisfaction on their faces was priceless, but now it was time for her to go collect their money. “Stay here and clear the club out. I’m going to get our cut now before Officer Troy gets any ideas. I’ll come back in about an hour,” she stated then left the club.
She drove toward Miller Road and parked her car in the empty shopping center lot. Just as planned, Troy was waiting for her. She eagerly hopped out of the car.
“I got to take ten thousand and two kilos of cocaine back to the station so that I can log it in as evidence,” he informed her as she approached.
“What? You didn’t tell me that,” she protested.
“Look, my ass is the one who has to build this case against Manolo in order for him to do jail time. There’s twenty thousand in there for you. You can also keep the rest of the dope. I can’t do anything with that,” he stated.
Tasha’s eyes lit up when he said that. She knew that the eight bricks were as good as gold, so she shut up and accepted the deal. “Nice doing business with you, Troy,” she stated with a wink.
“Very nice,” he replied as he licked his lips and eyed her up and down. “Let me know if you’d like to do it again.”
Tasha smirked. The sex was good, but it wasn’t that damn good. She still hated cops, and she knew that she wouldn’t make a habit of dealing with Troy. She hopped back into her vehicle and pulled away.
When she arrived back at the club, Mimi and Halleigh were waiting patiently for her. She was surprised that they had gotten rid of everyone so quickly.
“You get the money?” Mimi asked, the dollar signs practically forming in her eyes.
“Yeah, I got it. There are twenty stacks here and eight bricks,” Tasha replied.
“What are we gon’ do with some dope?” Halleigh asked.
“Don’t worry about it. I’m gon’ holla at my brother. He lives in New York. We’re going to visit him there. We’ll let things cool down before we come back,” Tasha stated. “If we come back.”
Tasha divided the cash by giving herself $8,000 and then giving Halleigh and Mimi $6,500 apiece. She figured she should get a little more for putting the plan together and fucking with Troy to carry it out. Mimi and Halleigh had no objections.
“Look, y’all. No one can know that we set up Manolo’s arrest, so we just have to keep our mouths shut and let things die down. Then I promise you that everything will be fine,” Tasha instructed.
Halleigh smiled and hugged Tasha tightly. “Thank you, Tash. Thank you so much,” she stated.
Mimi was busy flicking through her money when she burst out laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Halleigh asked with a frown.
Mimi shook her head and giggled some more. “Did y’all see Manolo’s face when the police blew up his spot?” she asked. Halleigh and Tasha joined in on the laughter. “His ass was getting ready to cry when they put those handcuffs on him,” Mimi stated, shaking her head.
“What goes around comes around,” Halleigh stated. “I hope he rots in the mu’fucka.”
“Let’s get out of here,” Tasha said as she rose from her seat. “We’ve got a long drive ahead of us.” Tasha had changed her plans to fly to New York when she decided that she would take Mimi and Tasha with her. Leaving them in Flint was too risky. If they were with her, they couldn’t talk.
The girls exited the club with a burden lifted from their heart. Manolo had taken advantage of each of them in their own way. As they pulled away from the club, they felt safe and secure in knowing that their betrayal would be a secret that would never leave those four walls.
Just as Tasha, Halleigh and Mimi drove away, Keesha came walking out of the club with envy in her eyes. She had just overheard the most valuable information she’d ever encountered. She knew it had to be worth something. Now she just had to figure out how she would use it to her advantage.
