“Ma’am we’re taking fire from the island below. How do you want us to proceed?”

“Well if someone is inhospitable you don’t just sit and take it, do you?” Let’s return their greeting with one of our own.”

“Yes ma’am.” A number of her team replied while they prepared themselves for battle. Weapon systems were activated while targets were being locked. The first thing that showed up on screen was a number of turrets and surface to air missile launchers. Beeerssshh three missiles went flying from the launcher toward the ship.

“Get the guns on it.” Juliette commanded.

A moment later a barrage of bullets shot down the missiles while the ship fired a couple of its own. Beeeeerssssh beeeeerssshhh booooom booooom smoke and fire appeared on screen they had taken a number of the turrets and missile launchers down…but that didn’t stop the ship from shaking. Boooom baaaaaarp baarpbarrrpbaaaarp, missiles and gunfire shot through the smoke and pelted the ship.

“Hurry and return fire. I want them scared.” Juliette got up after saying that.

  “Where are you going?”

“To scare them of course.” Juliette grinned creepily when she said that. Then she headed from the bridge to an area where a number of her team waited for her, they nodded as she approached handing her an assault rifle. She put the strapped on and instructed her team to leave the first wave to her, she had some pent up aggression to work through. A moment later a portion of the ship opened and Juliette and her team jumped out. Air rushed passed her slapping against her ears as they descended upon the island. Juliette could already see a large group of Prometheus soldiers making their way toward the area that her team would land on. It was only fifteen seconds now.

For a moment Juliette considering counting how many soldiers were approaching but decided that she would count them once they were on the ground. She didn’t want to have to recount if more joined in. Seven seconds, the air around Juliette and her team continued to slap against them as they fell from the ship. Any moment now Crash…Juliette and her team had landed and just in time the Prometheus soldiers had arrived.

“Remember the first waves mine dears.”

Her team’s only respond was to raise their guns and level them at the soldiers in front of them. Juliette didn’t raise her weapon instead she stepped forward and waved her opponents over. The soldiers looked around sort of confused which annoyed Juliette slightly.

“Oh lady’s first is it? And here I thought you lot were a bunch of LOUSY….”

Juliette attacked before she finished speaking, rushing forward and elbowing the nearest soldier in the jaw. He went flying which seemed to signal the other soldiers to attack. That’s more like it. The Prometheus soldiers surrounded Juliette then started charging at her. She looked around noting the distance between her and each of the soldiers in her field of vision then she made her move. First she ducked an incoming punch then she sent three incredibly fast punches to the attacking soldier’s stomach just before uppercuting him. His body flew into the air like it had forgotten how to stay grounded. Then Juliette pulled back her left elbow and smashed it into the nose of a nearby solider. As if the man’s face was made of rubber, Juliette’s arm rocketed forward a second after her elbow made contact. Her fist made contact with another soldier knocking his lights out.

Two soldiers managed to get close enough to hit her, the hits barely hurt but Juliette didn’t plan on letting them get another hit in. Her eyes flashed silver for a split second just as she started to strike each and every soldier in the stomach. She punched and kicked hard as she bounced around each one of her targets.

They all held their stomachs from the pain each and every one of them looking like they were going to double over. Juliette took this opportunity to flip forward and perform a handstand. From there she started moving her hands round and round causing her to spin, a second after she started spinning Juliette opened her legs as if she was doing the splits. Combine with the spinning Juliette kicked the heads of each and every one of the Prometheus soldiers sending them flying in every direction. A moment later she stopped spinning and pushed her hands against the ground flipping into a standing position. Once she did she was facing her team so she bowed proudly. While she heard the sound of guns being raised and aimed at her. A smirk went across her face as she said.

  “Now you can join in.”

  Chapter 36

Adam was seated on a swivel chair watching at least six different monitors that overlooked the island. He was bored so he decided to bug the guys in here who most if not all decided to leave. Good choice on their part. Adam thought to himself while he put both his hands behind his head and leaned back. His legs were on the console in front of him, he made sure to avoid touching too many buttons. But he could still see in the corner of his eye that two of the team stationed here wanted to say something.

Adam was almost bored enough to pay attention to them wondering if anyone of them would bother to tell him to get his feet off the console of course then he’d have an excuse to respond. Hell even if they didn’t say anything, if nothing happened soon he’d just skip the excuse and get to the screaming. First he removed both of his feet from the console in front of him then turned his chair to the right. Adam moved his hands in front of him keeping them interlaced then he pushed them forward while stretching. There was a crack sound which meant that Adam had been sitting still for a while. A small smile appeared on his face as he turned his attention to two of the members of the watch crew.

“Where are my manners? How are you two doing today?”

Both members looked at each other like they needed some nonverbal cue from one other to speak. Adam stared at them not changing the expression on his face for a moment. Everyone who worked here knew his reputations, they knew how unhinged he was. While he waited for their response, any response really Adam began tapping the knuckle of his right hand with his left index finger.

“We’re doing fine. How about you?”

Adam almost jumped out of his seat from excitement, they spoke. He had almost expended all his patience waiting for some sort of response. Adam cocked his head to the side and stared at the two members of the watch crew. One was a fair skinned woman while the other was a tan skinned man. He was curious who would freak out first and the most.

“Didn’t you come here to watch the monitors? Well Adam the monitors are over here.”

Adam tapped his foot against the ground turning him around slowly, he had a blank expression on his face while he stared at the man who had just spoken to him. Not everyone was afraid of Adam, he didn’t really care but regardless of if they were afraid or not every one of the people here should know that they should watch the way they spoke to him.

“I’m sorry, what did you say?” Adam asked the question politely.

“I said you came here to watch the monitors. Not mess with the staff members here. Because of you a number of them have already left. I don’t need any more leaving so either you actually do what you came here to do or go.”

Adam found the man’s tone surprisingly condescending. It was obvious this man wasn’t afraid of him something that he didn’t actually care about but the man was being rude. That irked him. So Adam started to think about how he was going to handle this. Adam pushed against the ground gently, spinning his chair toward the two watch crew members he was talking to before being interrupted. The chair stopped so Adam pushed again a bit hard this time so he spun around the room, before he stopped he pushed against the ground. Adam kept spinning and spinning, the expression on his face was blank while the man who had been rude to Adam was visibly annoyed. At some point while Adam was spinning he had begun yelling at Adam which Adam ignored and just kept on spinning. Eventually the man got up and started yelling louder, he didn’t like being ignored so he started getting closer.

Once the man was close enough Adam smirked for a second then stood up from the chair while grabbing the man by his neck. He lifted him up high enough into the ai
r that the man’s feet were more than a foot off the ground. Adam squeezed not hard enough to kill the man just enough that he couldn’t speak only gasp and make choking sounds. Staring the man straight in the eyes Adam said.

“Shouldn’t your attention be on the monitors it’s your job after all?”

The man couldn’t respond obviously, instead his legs flailed and he clawed at Adam’s hand. Which only put a smile on his face. Then something in the corner of his eye caught Adam’s attention. So he looked at the monitor without turning his head, he could see that there was activity in the Northwest corner, Southwest corner, and Southeast. The smile on his face slowly started to grow that’s when Adam noticed there was some sort of activity on the beach as well. One of the mines had been tripped then a second later another went off and another one and another. Something was barreling through the mines as if they were only minor distractions. He could see the pattern on the screen, a large orange dot and another and another, each dot started where the other ended. It showed Adam that something strong was coming. Something that the mines couldn’t stop.

Feeling genuinely excited Adam let go of the man he was choking and started heading out of the room without a single word. He waved goodbye without turning around. While he did, the man Adam was choking coughed while holding his throat. That’s when a shadow appeared behind the man. He turned toward it quickly while still coughing.

  “You just left….”

  Chapter 37

Phase two had started, a couple of minutes after Carter had pressed the button on the small box I could hear a number of explosions coming from different points on the island. The three of us were counting down. We needed to move but not immediately it had to be a good point into the battle so by the time we reached Prometheus HQ they were sending out reinforcements.

“Now’s as good a time as any. Not like we can time it to the exact second.” Carter pointed out.

It was true so I guess it was time for us to head out into the belly of the beast. The three of us started lightly jogging forward. Twigs snapped underfoot as we made our way through the trees. Aside from that and the sound of distant gunfire and explosions it was silent, at least between the three of us. It wasn’t like there was a lot to talk about in a situation like this, I mean in one way there was but it was very unlikely that someone in this situation. Namely us, would decide that we would hold a conversation. Instead we marched forward, so far we hadn’t run into any patrols I guess they were being sent away from the center. It wouldn’t take them too long to notice that every other point was being attacked. It was possible that they would assume that we were trying to converge on a point that was equal distance if that was the mindset they used. Then our plan was better than I thought but it wasn’t a certainty or anything like that. Click…

  “Guys!!!”

Baaaaarp baaaaarp baaaaarp, the three of us dove to the ground as gunfire started flying toward us. Rolling into a crouch I pointed my AK-U13 toward the direction of the flashes of gunfire. I couldn’t quite see any of the Prometheus’ soldiers yet but that didn’t stop me from pulling the trigger. Baaaaarp baaaaarp baaaaarp the moment I and the others returned fire, our enemies did the same. Tree bark flew into the air as bullets whizzed pass, staying in my crouched position I began moving left and right as I fired. Without really thinking about it I clicked the little button near the trigger which extended the barrel of my gun. Barraaapbaaarrrp the barrel of my gun flashed as a barrage of bullets fired forward hammering the trees in my line of sight. Each of my shots went through a tree and kept on going. I couldn’t tell how many soldiers went down but I knew I had gotten some of them.

That didn’t stop the gunfire though. Carter signaled that we should keep heading forward. Fwwwhhooo…fwhhho…fwwhhooo, with my hand pointed behind me I shot off three energy blasts as cover fire. Keeeershpppp, keeershppp some of the trees around us started to collapse, which I assumed was Alastor’s doing. It was helping but not enough, the Prometheus soldiers were persistent, too persistent. Alastor stopped running and faced the direction we were running from. He stretched his right hand forward then grabbed at the air and yanked his hand back. A group of soldiers were pulled toward us.

My rifle was level, aiming at center mass I squeezed the trigger baaaarp baaaaarp baaaaaarp. My shots were mostly dead-on, each shot burst through their intended target and then some. A rustling sound along with footsteps got closer and closer until a large mob of soldiers were in front of us. Alastor spread his arms out and yank them in pulling in soldiers from left and right. Carter threw his hands forward releasing bolts of electricity, the soldiers spasmed and shook as their bodies fried.

The other soldiers weren’t happy so they began firing at Alastor and Carter. Alastor had put up a barrier to cover him and Carter while I moved in front of both of them. Tinnk…Tinnnk…tinnk hygrometal receded from my body while I aimed my rifle with one arm. The butt of it was pressed against my shoulder so I could keep it leveled. I squeezed the trigger while throwing my free hand forward. Heat was building up fast then released itself in the form of flames whipping toward the soldiers ahead. A good number of them rolled out of the way but that didn’t matter too much because of…

Zeeeeet…zeeeeetzeeeeeet…zeeeeet electricity jumped from one soldier to another they writhed in pain for a moment or two then nothing. Fwwhooo fwwwwwho, I lobbed two blasts toward the chest of two soldiers that were on the ground Fwwwwhooo. Another green flash from my hand and another dead soldier. We were clear to move on, and that’s why it’s just the three of us. There wasn’t much three Primes couldn’t handle. I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t have too much of a problem with any of the resistance. Carter, Alastor and I ran forward through the trees. The jungle was vast, I was starting to wonder when we were going to reach Prometheus Headquarters. It was suppose to be a fair distance away from the center of the island. In fact based on how Juliette explained it I sort of assumed that it was pretty much smack dab in the middle of the island.

“Oh. Hang on seems like there’s a path up ahead.” I was talking more to myself than anything else.

But even Alastor couldn’t complain about that. I mean I just pointed out that there was a clearing up ahead. Even if it was sort of obvious, the trees were slowly starting to become more and more spaced out. I could even swear that up ahead I could see a path, not sure if I was just imagining things or if there really was a path. If there was one then it was a good bet it led somewhere we would want to go. The path wasn’t too far not only that but a few more seconds and….the three of us burst forth from a thick of bushes and trees onto the clear path itself. It looked like the area had sort of been mowed down. It was a thin stretch of land, the trees were more spaced here, I could see that the path led through more trees. Yeeeaaah. But it meant we were closer to where we wanted to be. The three of us took a step forward snapping a twig while a nearby bush rustled.

A large man wearing a stretched out lab coat and black jeans emerged. The large man had mop like shaggy hair that ran down his forehead to the point you couldn’t see his eyes. It seemed that the man had a number of scars that had been closed with stitches that were still on his face. Then a second after the large man appeared, Adam emerged, his hair was different. He had shaved the sides and back while the front was braided, the braids were put into a ponytail that went down the back of his head. It was called an undercut.

Adam hadn’t spotted us at first not until the big guy pointed at us. Adam’s eyes opened wide while he stared at us. The five of us sort of stared at each other. There was nothing said between us at first then…

“You’re alive? Huh well I’m honestly glad now I get to kill you myself…Wait how’d you idiots even find this place? Aomeone in Prometheus tell you huh?”

“Yeah, you did with that big ship you sent to kill us dumbass.” Alastor commented.

I glanced at Alastor not quite sure what he was talking about. A strange expression went across Adam’s face, he didn’t look pleased, he
look irritated if anything. Then he sort of just brushed it off.

“Well if that’s the reason I’m glad you survived and made your way here. I was getting so bored. Now I can take care of things personally.”

The man standing by Adam groaned. Causing Adam to smirk for a moment.

“Don’t worry Cross you can play too. Just make sure no one escapes.”

Neither Carter nor I had spoken yet, right now the rage inside was bubbling it wouldn’t be long before it reached the surface and I…

“Bastard!” Carter aimed his rifle and pulled the trigger, Cross moved in front of Adam and tanked the shots. Adam zigzagged toward Carter, his arms dangled behind him while he ran almost like he didn’t have a care in the world. Baaarp baaaaarp baaaarp Carter continued firing while Adam approached. I was about to join in when Cross started marching toward me.

  “Hunt…hunt.” Cross muttered incoherently.

My AK-U13 was aimed at his neck, I clicked the button on the side extending the barrel. Then squeezed baaaaarp baaaarpbaaarp baaarp, the barrel flashed and a storm of gunfire pelted Cross. He was still coming toward me, he scratched at his neck revealing that the bullets did little more than irritate him.

  “Alastor…”

Cross continued forward then started walking in place, Alastor used his telekinesis to push against him but Cross still marched toward us.

  “What’s with this guy?”

Normally I would have chimed in but right now I was busy rushing at Adam who was too preoccupied evading Carter’s attacks. Adam jumped to the side, he was about to make some sort of cocky remark when I punched at him. He evaded just in time to be grazed but he didn’t look happy. The air around him wobbled while two doppelgangers appeared and charged at me. So they each got an energy blast to the face, Adam started running into the jungle, he was cackling yelling catch me if you can. I wasn’t going to let him go he was going to pay, today he was going…
