  Dear Reader,

This is the second flashback book in the FBI series. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it. At the end, there’s a letter.

  Read it.

  Ponder it.

And wonder what the hell Elizabeth Blackhawk is up to next.

  Much love, mayhem, and murder,

  Morgan

Tony Magnus, meet your new family…

Chris and Elizabeth, you always have each other…

  prologue

  Georgetown

  T hey were whores.

  Hookers.

  Sluts.

  The women of the night.

They walked the streets proudly, pretending they had just as much right to be there as the rest of the world.

  They didn’t.

They were put here to service the men of loose morals, spread disease, and torment the souls of everyone around them. If the world were cleansed, they would have to be the first to go.

At first, he wanted to ignore them. He wanted to pretend they didn’t exist, that they weren’t there watching him or trying to lure him in, but then he knew he had to handle the situation.

Only, he had to be tricky—just like them.

Each day, when he passed them on the streets, he was being mocked by them. He could feel it with each look, glance, or comment they made to him. They called him baby, they whistled at him, and they dare comment on his package. They were disgusting, and he had to find a way to stop them.

Then one night, as he rested in bed, it came to him. It was so clear, easy, and ingenious. It was the perfect decision for him. He would get rid of the garbage on the block.

No more would they pollute the streets, his world, or God’s creation.

  They would die.

One by one, he would end them. He would destroy their bodies, end their reign of disgustingness, and stop what he believed was a travesty.

One by one, he’d make their lives disappear, and he’d do it without anyone even caring too. That was the beauty of it all. No one would miss a few hookers from the street.

He’d be their worst nightmares, and they didn’t even know it. They were too stupid, worthless, and foul to see it.

To the world, they were nothing.

They weren’t worthy of the life given them, and he was going to make sure they didn’t stay on God’s green Earth any longer.

He was going to cleanse the city of their foulness.

He was going to purge DC of their sins.

He was going to murder in cold blood.

It was time to take a stand, be clever,
and fix the city’s problem.

  Death was coming.

Yes, the Bible said it was wrong to take a life, but he didn’t care. At this point, it was stand up, take back his city, or let the evil win. It was everywhere, and he was going to make this his mission. He was doing God’s work, being his missionary, and saving the world from itself.

He was sick of it all.

They were filling the streets with their sickness.

So, he was going to make sure they stopped in their tracks, repented, or spent their eternity in hell.

He was going to save them or kill them. One way or another, he’d do it so quietly that no one would even notice. He’d be invisible, and they’d be removed from society.

That was all there was to it.

It was going to be his greatest mission. Like his family, he was going to save the world one sinner at a time.

So, he started at the bottom of the barrel. The first hooker was disgusting. She was covered in blisters, and likely had some plague.

  He wasn’t shocked.

When you spread your legs for money, who knew what you’d pick up and pass along? In fact, he was glad they did nothing for him. There was no temptation to touch them. He saw enough of them that he only wanted to hurt them.

  Break them.

  Make them bleed.

No, sleeping with them was the last thing on his mind. They weren’t worth it.

In fact, as he hurt them, he’d protect himself too. He made sure to wear gloves to keep her filth from contaminating his skin.

He didn’t need to catch what she was carrying.

As she walked to her little hideaway—the place she spent her down time—he followed her.

It wasn’t hard to track her through the streets. She was wearing hooker heels, a way too short skirt, and her filthiness was like a beacon in the night.

He, on the other hand, blended in.

The world around him didn’t see him for what he was. He was a predator, hidden among the sheep of the world. He was stronger than he looked, and he was more vicious than a rabid dog. In the end, she’d never see it coming.

  None of them would.

After all, she was stupid, and she was the prey.

When she walked down an alley, trying to take a shortcut back to her den of iniquity, he followed. There was no way he was going home without ending her perverse life. It was too late for her, and he’d planned this a very long time.

It took a lot to hide among them. He couldn’t waste a single opportunity.

It was time to begin his mission in life. It was time to hurt those who hurt themselves and the weak-minded men around them.

  She had to pay.

When he approached her, she was too busy talking on her phone to even to notice he was behind her. Her chattering offended him. She was discussing the ‘Johns’ that she’d had all night, and that she had fulfilled her ‘dopey’ pimps required number of lays.

She was mocking men as if she were better than them. It only added fuel to his fire. It only made him that much angrier with her.

Instead of erupting, he let her dig the hole a little more. It only reinforced his belief that she had to die. Everything he’d thought about her was right.

She was a waste of life.

When she hung up the phone and tucked it back into her purse, he figured it was time. Silently, he picked up the pace, ending up not far behind her. As she clip-clopped along, he got ready.

She had one more date for the night.

  With him.

  And death.

Picking up a piece of pipe from the ground, he held it in his gloved fingers. When she stopped suddenly, he knew it was now or never. With all the force he could muster, he swung the metal in his hand, delivering one hell of a blow.

The sick crack of skull against pipe was vile and sickening. It was something he’d never heard before in his whole life, and it frightened him.

  Maybe he shouldn’t…

  It didn’t matter.

  It was too late.

She hit the ground face first and stopped moving. He didn’t doubt that she was dead. He was pretty strong, and her head…it was now oddly shaped.

  God!

  What had he done?

He dropped the pipe and looked around. His heart was thundering in his chest, and he was beyond scared.

Only, he couldn’t stop now. He needed to do this for everyone. This wasn’t only about him, but it was about the world, and it was about the filthy hookers too.

In his own way, he was saving them.

He was keeping them from making more bad choices, and that was the only way to convert their black, dead souls back to the righteous path.

In fact, they should be thanking him.

He was doing a service to the world.

Rolling her over, he noticed her eyes were open—along with her mouth. The smear of cheap makeup told the tale. She had been working hard, servicing all the horny men. This whore was out doing the Devil’s work.

The remorse he’d felt a minute ago, along with the fear, was now gone. She had been out slutting around, spreading her legs for anyone who would pay for her services.

Yeah, she had received exactly what she deserved.

“That’s your payment in full,” he whispered, as he touched her throat. What he felt shocked him.

  She wasn’t dead.

His heart began thundering again. There was no way she should have survived that hit to the head. He’d swung with all his might.

  She was alive.

  “Help me, Jesus,” he muttered.

In his head, he heard the words.

  ‘End her.’

  That was the only way.

Grabbing that mop of fake hair, he bashed her head off the sidewalk between the two disgusting dumpsters. With each strike, his heart was pounding like crazy.

  He was killing.

  He was killing.

  He was…

  Oh, God!

  He was doing it!

There was that rush of blood, that surge of adrenaline, and that kiss of fear.

  Yes, he was scared.

When he was sure she was dead, he looked around for a place to put her body. There was no way he could just leave her there.

He had to ditch her, but where?

The big dumpster with the garbage called to him. It seemed appropriate since she was trash. Rooting around in the big blue bin, he sought out something to use. When he saw it in the very pale streetlight, he knew it would work.

  It had to work.

Dumping out a heavy-duty black bag, it would be her final resting place. It was perfect. It was an answer from God.

  She’d definitely fit in there.

  He was sure of it.

When he faced her, the adrenaline crash was ending. Just looking at her was horrifying. In fact, he wanted to puke.

  He’d taken a life.

  He’d broken God’s laws.

Now he was getting sick over what he did. As he moved around, she was watching him. Her brown eyes seemed to track him. It was as if she was staring at him, and it scared him out of his mind.

  He had to do something.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his knife. He had to take her face. He needed to take it so she wouldn’t watch him.

Carefully, he carved it off her skull.

  Then he puked.

With each inch, he pulled away, he vomited up a little more of the nasty brew in his gut.

  He was an animal.

No, he was doing this for them.

  He was horrible.

No, he was saving her. She should thank him.

When her face was fully removed, he tossed it into the bag. Then he realized something.

  She was still watching him.

  God!

She was still staring at him with her dead eyes.

  They had to go.

She had to stop seeing him.

With the tip of his knife, he punctured them. The bl
oody blade slid into the eyeball, piercing it. From the deflating orb, the clear goo oozed, and he was sick all over again.

Instead of giving up, he scraped them out of the socket to make sure she never saw him again.

How did he pull it off?

  He didn’t know.

It had to be by God’s hand. It was the only explanation as to how he could pull this off. It was beyond his ability.

  It was beyond his strength.

All of this was from God’s will.

He began praying for her. The words were a mismatched jumble of madness, but he didn’t care. He was trying to save her soul. He’d seen the dead before, but he’d never done this.

This depth of depravity horrified and pleased him.

  He was capable of murder.

  Was this his calling?

He could hear the city coming to life behind him, and he knew he didn’t have much time. He yanked the construction garbage bag over her ruined body, tied it in a knot, and then struggled to get it into the dumpster.

  It was garbage day.

  If they didn’t look…

  Yeah, he was home free.

He buried her body beneath the other trash to ensure she wouldn’t be found. It would buy him time. She couldn’t turn up, or he’d be screwed.
