The Fallon Brothers: Kinney Page 13

“Old lady and old man, Mira,” I tell her and shake my head. “You should know your biker lingo seeing as you’re a part of this MC as much as I am.”

My eyes slide to her huge belly and I think of the eventful morning I had. I still can’t fully comprehend everything I was told but the facts don’t lie.

“Something you want to share with me?” Mira quips, her eyebrow raises in question.

I glance around the empty room. We’re in the main room of the clubhouse but most of the bikers are in the backyard setting up the barbecue and enjoying the sunny afternoon. We only came inside since Mira can’t stand the heat and wanted to enjoy her milkshake inside.

“I think I’m going crazy.” I release a deep sigh.

“Tell me about it,” Mira mutters. “I swear I saw Shea the other day but it was just my mind playing tricks on me.”

  “What?” I gasp.

She waves our discussion away with her hand. “Forget about it, like I said, my mind is playing tricks on me. Besides, I’ve only ever seen Shea once when he came into the clubhouse that night and the prospect shot him. He’s dead I’m sure. Besides, it’s what? Six months since it happened? It’s just my biggest fear and that’s why my mind is playing tricks on me with the not getting enough sleep because all I do is pee. Seriously, I need to get up four times a night to pee. But we’re not talking about me. Now, what’s going on with you? I know something is bugging you, now spill.”

“You know how my cycle is all screwed up and the injury I had and the whole ‘getting pregnant would be a miracle’ thing, right?”

Mira nods slowly before her eyes widen. “Holy shit! Miracle time for you? It is, isn’t it?”

“I’ve been ignoring it for months. Always thinking my period is just lacking like it’s always just one day of slightly menstruating and then nothing. It’s normal for me. But then Kinney mentioned my boobs getting bigger, but he told me to stop worrying. I kept ignoring it for a few more months. Even if my belly grew, I wrote it off as too much eating and less workouts. But then my belly fluttered and it made me think.” I swallow hard and get it all out. “I asked Byrne’s father, the club doctor. I explained about my background and he did some tests. He asked me to meet him this morning and he...he said I’m probably over four months pregnant. Everything seems okay but I have to make an appointment to do the whole sonogram and then I get to find out if it’s a boy or a girl. Dammit, I’m way past the whole risky first few months and I didn’t even believe I was pregnant and kept ignoring it because I didn’t have any morning sickness. Hell, I didn’t even know I would be able to get pregnant. It’s Kinney’s fault. He’s been blasting his sperm inside me ever since we met. It’s an overload. There’s no other explanation because they told me it was practically impossible.” I’m shouting by now and waving my arms furiously while Mira has the biggest of smiles on her face.

“Stop smiling! I’m gonna be huge in less than five months from now and I can’t squeeze it out of my...my...my...oh, shit, that’s gonna hurt.” I cringe again and Mira starts to laugh but suddenly stops and looks over my shoulder. She nods slightly and gives me a loving look.

“It’s all going to work out, Aspen. You’ll see. You have a man at your back who loves you very much and who will go on any adventure life gives you. The two of you are going to be great parents and Kier and I are thrilled to share this moment with you guys. Our kids will be brought up close together. I can’t imagine a better world to raise our children in than the solid friendship and loyalty this brotherhood gives all of us.”

“You’re carrying our kid?” Kinney’s voice flows out behind me making me whirl around.

There’s so much emotion on his face and the love in his eyes is all aimed at me. Kier is standing next to him and grabs his shoulder. “You were right, man. Your suspicions are confirmed. Congrats!”

“Daddy Pres,” Nics snickers and smacks him on the back.

My eyes start to burn and Kinney’s gaze is still locked on mine when I ask, “You suspected it?”

A brilliant smile spreads on his face. “The little bump gave me more reason to believe it was true. But I know your body. I’ve felt, and damn well licked and explored, every damn inch of you for months. So, yeah. I suspected when I saw the change in your body months ago. You couldn’t have made the both of us happier.”

He stalks right up to me and grabs me in his embrace.

“Over four freaking months already,” I mutter and Kinney snorts.

“I heard you blaming me but I don’t care, babe. I’d gladly take the blame and relish in it. Something impossible the two of us made possible. How fucking epic can you get?” he whispers in my ear and adds on a husky tone, “It clearly shows we were made for each other.”

My throat closes up and I can barely push out the words, “I love you.”

Kinney chuckles and says, “Wait till you have to push our little one out in less than five months, then you’ll curse me six ways from Sunday.”

I bury my fists in his leather cut and place my forehead against his chest. “Don’t remind me, it’s still future stuff.”

“Future stuff,” Kinney agrees and places his finger underneath my chin to connect our gaze. “Future stuff where you’ll become my wife and we’ll live happily-ever-fucking-after.”

“Always the romantic,” I mutter but the smile spreading my face lights up my heart and the same look is mirrored on his face.

  “You know it,” he replies.

“I do,” I tell him, also answering his proposal in one go.

“Yeah, you do,” he mumbles and steps back to grab something from his pocket.

It’s a little black velvet box he opens and takes out a ring. He throws the box on the ground, takes my hand, and slides the ring on my finger.

He grins at me when I again mutter the words, “Always the—” but I can’t add “romantic” because he’s already taking my lips in a scorching kiss, letting me know the love we once started will only grow from here on out. Expanding. Either in our hearts, our family, or our expectations for a future we’re both set to turn into forever.
