After a moment, she turned in his arms and found his mouth with her own, reaching up to tangle her fingers in his hair and pull him closer. As they kissed, his strong fingers cupped her breast through the thin slip and her nipples hardened in response. The tingles became stronger, lighting a burning heat deep within her core.

Unable to contain her urgency, Lucy ran her hands down Andrew’s back and began attacking the knot that held his plaid. It came undone and he shrugged it away, leaving him standing in only his undershirt. With barely concealed impatience, she gathered this too and yanked it over his head. He kicked off his boots and stood naked before her, the candlelight highlighting the contours of his muscles and the hungry gleam in his eyes.

“Wife,” Andrew rumbled. “Undress for me. I wish to see every inch of yer body.”

With a wicked smile, Lucy stepped back. Andrew’s eyes followed her as she slowly drew the slip over her head and tossed it to one side. Her husband’s gaze roved slowly over her nakedness, stoking the hunger in his eyes to fever pitch.

“Yer beauty will unman me,” he whispered. “I have to have ye. Now.”

With a growl, Andrew picked her up and carried her over to the bed where he laid her on her back. Lucy pulled him down on top of her and pushed her tongue into his mouth, kissing him hungrily. She was giddy with desire. She wanted him. Needed him.

With his knees, Andrew pushed her legs apart and lowered his hips until the smooth tip of his manhood brushed the warmth between her legs. Lucy groaned and spread her legs wide, alight with need.

“Ye are mine,” Andrew whispered in her ear. “Now and forever.”

“Then claim me, husband,” she whispered back, voice hoarse with desire.

Andrew thrust his hips, driving himself deep inside her. Lucy bucked and cried out as he entered her. With a shudder, Andrew drove in again, sending delicious heat flooding through Lucy’s loins. She ran her hands down his back, feeling the heat of his skin, smelling the scent of him all around her. Her husband. Her everything. Andrew’s head dropped as he withdrew and thrust once more, his hair brushing her shoulder, breath harsh and ragged by her ear. Lucy moaned, tilted her hips to meet his strokes.

Ecstasy rippled along Lucy’s nerves. All thought ceased. All that mattered was Andrew and the incredible things his body was doing to her. His tempo increased, his movements becoming faster, harder, as his own pleasure began to mount.

Lucy arched her back as the pulses of ecstasy increased, burning through her system like wildfire. Her gasps became wails as her climax exploded through her body. She bucked against Andrew as it ripped through her, filling her with sweet, sweet ecstasy and sweeping her away on a tide of euphoria.

Andrew jerked as he reached his own peak and his voice whispered hoarsely by her ear, “I love ye. I love ye.”

He rested his forehead on her shoulder, chest heaving as he caught his breath. After a moment, he rolled away, lay down next to her and propped himself up on an elbow. He smiled, eyes glinting.

“My wife’s beauty is only matched by her passion.”

She didn’t reply. She rolled closer and kissed him. Passion was it? She’d show her new husband just how passionate she could be.

LUCY WAS AWOKEN BY sunlight slanting through the chamber window. She threw back the covers, careful not to wake Andrew who lay sprawled on his back with one leg dangling over the side, and slipped out of bed. Pulling a robe around her shoulders she made her way over to the window and threw open the shutters.

The sun was rising over the sea, sending streamers of golden light shimmering over the waves. Down in the bailey there was already activity, despite the lateness of last night’s festivities. Three of the kitchen staff busied themselves fetching water from the well. One of them flicked water at the others and they broke into fits of giggles. Dougie and Uncle Nathan emerged around the side of the keep and headed for the stables. Both were carrying fishing gear. One of the guards on the battlements let out an almighty yawn that echoed around the bailey, sending the kitchen maids into fits of giggles again.

Lucy smiled as she watched. Contentment welled inside her. These were her people. This was her place. She’d pushed the door open on her new life and now stood at the beginning of the path. She couldn’t wait to get started.

Warm arms suddenly circled her and Andrew stepped up behind. He rested his chin on her shoulder. “Ye are an early riser, love. What are ye doing?”

She pulled his arms tighter around her. “Just enjoying the morning.”

“Aye. Tis a grand one. Although the season is turning and winter will soon be upon us. Ye willnae want to stand here then, I can tell ye.”

“I look forward to it,” Lucy said. “I look forward to all of it. To every new moment. As long as you’re with me.”

He turned her to face him and cupped her face in his hands. “Aye, love. There are so many things I want to show ye. So many things I want to share with ye.”

“Then what are we waiting for? There’s no time like the present. If we hurry we can join Uncle Nathan and Dougie on their fishing trip.”

She turned away but Andrew caught her and pulled her back towards him. He bent his head and kissed her deeply, holding her face in his hands. When he finally broke the kiss, Lucy was a little breathless.

“Although, maybe that can wait until tomorrow,” she murmured.

  “Aye. Tomorrow, love,” Andrew replied.

Then he took her hand and led her back to bed.
