“Thank you for taking care of me.”
“I will always take care of you.”
My stomach flips, and I face plant onto his chest. He carries me into our room and lays me gently in bed, paying special attention to my foot. He climbs in the other side, wraps his arm around me, and places his head at the crook of my neck, breathing in my scent.
“Seeing you hurt, lying there. That shit will forever be branded in my mind.” I can hear the pain in his voice.
“I am sorry I scared you. Hopefully, nothing like this happens again.”
“It won’t.”
I laugh at his tone, kiss his cheek, and bury my hand in his hair. It still amazes me that I get to see this side of him. He portrays himself a certain way in front of the others, but not me. I get the softness and tenderness; he is so gentle with me. I hope that one day my kids get to experience the same thing. I want them to have the best, and I want them to have the kind of love that I have.
“How will you handle Hope finding a mate someday?” I tease.
He freezes. “Don’t say shit like that to me.”
I laugh. I do feel sorry for her mate. Damon is going to be on his ass all the time to make sure he is doing everything the right way. “She will have all of the protection she needs.”
“Yeah, she fucking will. I think we need to get you pregnant again, with another boy.”
I snort. “Baby, it could be a girl.”
His eyes widen at the idea of another little girl. “I think we need to adopt.”
“You are crazy.”
He looks up at me. “Yeah, for you.”
“You are sweet. I love you.”
“I love you.”
I hear little feet running across the floor, then the sound of Axel crying. “I will get them both.” Damon gets out of bed, and he comes back a minute later with Hope on his hip and Axel on his arm. He sets Hope down on the bed and climbs in on the other side.
“Want to watch some TV?” I ask Hope.
She nods and I turn on a princess movie. She lays her head on my shoulder.
“This is the life, Damon,” I whisper.
“You guys are my life.” He touches the top of Hope’s head and kisses my temple.
Yeah, this is the life. It’s beautiful.
Three Years Later
Farren
Our world has changed before our very eyes. Damon is traveling from pack to pack to make sure they are treating their packmates as they should. He has people living in those packs, monitoring them. If there are problems, we show up and take care of it. This has created tensions, but it’s also changed everyone’s lives. Little by little, everything has changed for the better. And while we have been improving the wolf shifter world, Jackson has taken that role among the bears, making sure everyone is treated fairly.
“MOMMY!” Hope is running with Axel holding her hand. They are both naked.
“Have you guys been shifting?”
“Yes! So much fun!” Hope jumps up and down. She is the happiest little girl. I am glad that, because of her age, she does not remember everything that she went through. When she shifted for the first time, we were surprised to find out that she is a panther. Blew our minds.
Three-year-old Axel is right by her side all the time; they can’t be separated.
A door slams and down comes Aiden with Brantley right behind him. I hear a squeal and see Maverick and Elizabeth’s daughter, Emma, running across the field. These kids rule everything here. They are so close and I love that. I love that they can all grow up together and be best friends.
“Hi, my friends.” Emma says as she gets closer. She just turned two, but she is a pure genius and way beyond her years.
“Hi, how are you?” Hope says like she is a grown woman. Aiden grabs Axel and they start rolling around in the grass, wrestling. This happens multiple times a day.
Damon, believe it or not, grows more handsome by the day and is becoming even more alpha. And did I mention possessive? Especially right now, since I am pregnant with another little boy. We decided to hold off for a couple of years until everything slowed down, but then it seemed that the whole pack was meeting their mates and having kids all at once.
Our pack is now the biggest in the world, our lands stretching for miles and miles. We have our own school and a medical facility—women come from all over to have their pups here. I am proud of the way everything has happened, and I am proud of Damon. He has put so much work into everything, and I have pushed him to do whatever he wants.
“How is my Moon?” He wraps his arms around me from behind, and his hands rest on my stomach. The baby kicks.
“I think someone is wanting to meet their daddy.” I tilt my head back and kiss his cheek. He grins, rubbing my stomach.
“My son is ready to run free.” He kisses my temple, and we watch the kids play with each other. This is happiness; this is what we worked so hard for.
“These kids are going to take over the world.”
“That is the plan, Moon. They are going to lead, protect, and carry on the legacy. We will guide and teach them—that’s the way it’s supposed to be.”
I nod. “We will, and we will not be alone.” I look at my friends, who will be with us throughout the journey.
“I think they are going to surpass us all.”
I think they are going to do much more than that.
Fifteen Years Later
Damon
I knew that our kids were destined for amazing things, because of the way they trusted and believed in each other. They grew up together, and they have an unbreakable bond.
“You do not ever touch my sister!” Axel and Gabe shout in the face of a guy who dared to grab Hope and leave a mark on her arm.
“She is pretty!” he whines, like that is an excuse for anything.
Hope comes out of nowhere with Emma at her back. “I will show you pretty!” She punches him right in the face. He hits the ground like a ton of bricks. My kids are fucking badass. I could not be prouder of the way they are.
“I think I hate men,” Hope says, her face in a beautiful scowl. It should be a fucking crime for my daughter to be that beautiful.
The other day, when she was walking out of school, I watched three boys fucking run into a wall. Pissed me right the fuck off. Her brothers are always following her, scaring them off. I raised them right and it drives Hope crazy.
“What happened?” Farren runs to me. She looks half panicked, which is normal.
“Some guy grabbed her arm.”
Her head snaps around to me. “He what?” She snarls, “I will teach the little shit respect. No one touches my daughter.”
I laugh and wrap my arms around her. “You think if it hadn’t been handled that the fucker would be breathing right now? Hope knocked his ass out.”
She lets out a deep breath. “Well, he needs more than that,” she grumbles and I laugh again.
Hope lets her scowl drop and goes back to smiling. She is a beam of light and happiness. She is pure and so fucking good, I want to protect her from everything.
Aiden runs up to Hope. “Are you okay?”
She nods, her face angry again. “He just grabbed my arm.”
Aiden looks at her arm. “What the fuck?”
“Ohh, I believe someone has a crush,” Farren says.
“Don’t say that shit,” I scold her.
She laughs and takes my hand. “Come on, baby, they don’t need us much anymore.” I can hear slight sadness in her words.
It is true; it’s like they fucking grew up overnight. One day they started taking care of each other and doing whatever it takes to protect each other. It’s fucking inspiring and sad. One day they want to hold your hand and be led through everything, and before you know it, they take off on their own.
Hope is twenty. God, where did the time go?
Farren leads me inside our house, slams the door, and pushes me against it. She grins at me seductively. I chuckle, and she grips my
shirt and rips it from top to bottom.
“Take off your pants,” she growls.
“Whatever Moon wants, she gets.” I step out of my pants and pick her up.
She grins at me. “I was going to suck your dick, but I think you have other plans?”
“Fuck yeah, I do.”
I press her face against the wall and push her dress up her hips. My hand finds its way between her legs. “Fucking soaked.”
“Only for you,” she whispers, her legs trembling.
“Damn right.” I kiss the back of her neck, push my pants down my legs, and press my dick at her entrance. “You know what tonight is, don’t you?”
“Full moon, another one?”
“Yes.”
She nods, and I press myself in all the way to the hilt. She pushes her ass back, and her back is arched. I grip her throat, the other hand on her hip as I pound into her.
She bites down on her hand to keep from screaming. “I am coming,” she manages to get out.
“I feel you,” I grind out, and I tilt my hips a bit more to hit the spot that drives her wild. Her hand smacks the wall. She squeezes my dick so fucking hard when she comes that it pushes me over the edge with her.
I slip out of her and take her upstairs into the shower. “You know this never grows old, but it gets stronger and stronger with you,” she says.
“Our love is one of a kind, Moon. You are my fucking queen. I may be alpha, but you own all of me.” I push her wet hair out of her face.
A tear slips down her face, and she falls forward and presses her forehead against mine. “I love you, Pha.”
“I love you too, my Moon.”

HOPE
The gate opens at the entrance to our property, and an SUV pulls inside. We all watch it stop right in front of me and my family. The doors open, one by one, and men get out of the vehicle. They are gorgeous men with piercing ice-blue eyes. Then one last person gets out.
My breath is stolen from my lungs as he looks at me. He is wearing a suit and, while I know he is a shifter, he smells different from anyone I have smelled before.
My father steps forward. “How can I help you?”
“We are from the mountains. I am the king of the panthers. I have come because my mate is here.” He is speaking to my father, but he does not take his eyes off of me.
“Who is that?” my father asks.
“Your daughter.”
I jump in absolute shock; did he just say me?
“What the fuck?” my father growls, and my brothers are moving closer to me. My mom is holding my hand, and I think she is ready to snatch me away at any second.
“I will not harm her, she is my mate. I have dreamt of her since I was a child. I came because I have seen that she is in danger.” He steps forward until he is in front of me, and he takes my free hand. My legs give out, and he catches me. “You know, you have dreamed of me,” he whispers.
I look at my dad. “He is right, Dad. For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of him.” Everyone around me is speechless.
“What is she in danger of?”
I look at the king, and he is looking at my father. “The cheetahs are coming for her. The alpha thinks that is she is his. We have moved our home to a forest beside your property. I moved here because I know she wants to be near her family.”
We stare at this person in astonishment.
“I’m Evan. It’s nice to meet you, my heart.”
Oh my god.
