“Not so good,” I sobbed out, chuckling. “I missed you too.”
He smiled bringing me to his chest, placing a kiss on my forehead.
“I missed you,” I said softly. “I didn’t think I would ever see you again.”
“I’ve been watching you,” he whispered, tapping the end of my nose.
“How often?” I murmured into his shirt.
“I used to every day,” he breathed out. “Then I promised myself I wouldn’t anymore but I still did anyway again after a few weeks.”
I cringed, wondering just how much he saw. When I met his eyes again, a sad expression colored his face.
“You kissed him,” he said slowly.
“You left me,” I mumbled, dropping my head. “I’m sorry. I missed you so much.”
“I love you, Evie,” he finally admitted. “I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to say the words.”
They were the three little words that I so desperately needed to hear him say.
He repeated the words again, cupping my face with his warm hands. “I love you, Evie.”
“I love you, Luke,” I croaked out, feeling the tears pour from my eyes.
“Oh, Evie, I’m so sorry I couldn’t be with you. I knew you wouldn’t understand. I didn’t want to hold you back, Evie.” Luke sighed. “I didn’t know if I could ever return here. If I couldn’t return, I didn’t want you spending the rest of your life waiting for me. I’m sorry, Evie.”
In this moment, I felt all the sadness, fear, and uncertainty leave me for good through my tears. I wanted Luke back and now he was here, for me.
“What did you do?” I asked him.
A soft chuckle left his lips. “I am no longer deputy commander of the SS Everest.”
“Luke,” I said breathlessly.
“It’s okay. It was worth it. I know what I gave up, but it doesn’t mean more to me than what I gave it up for,” Luke said wrapping his strong arms around my middle.
I pressed a kiss to his lips again. “Will you stay now?” I asked feeling hopeful.
“Yes, but I still work for Ascela.
“I will always be an agent, Evie. You don’t just quit working for Ascela. It was what I was born to do. It is my purpose.
“The Sigma Arcturus galaxy is my home. I couldn’t just leave. If I disobeyed the Council, they wouldn’t allow me to ever return. I could die, Evie. I need to be allowed to return home whenever I need to.”
“I understand.”
He inhaled, skimming his fingertips over my cheek. “I’d already broken the Council’s rules. I had to follow orders this time. Please
understand.
“Commander Drago made this possible and I am forever in debt to him for it.”
“Why did he do it?” I asked, pressing my head into Luke’s hard chest.
“There were a few reasons but I am what they need me to be now.”
The reflection of Luke in the mirror across the foyer caught my attention. Luke only smiled when I met his playful eyes again but he didn’t explain.
“You have a reflection,” I gasped.
“Seren was working on something when you left. It’s life-changing for me. She says she can’t work miracles but I believe she can.”
He went on.
“It’s more like a vaccination for the elevated carbon dioxide levels aboard the SS Everest.” Luke hesitated. “She found a way to control the impact that it would have on your human form...so that you can stay now, for as long as you want.
“Seren said it needs to be tested but she is a brilliant scientist,” he said chuckling. “I’m certain it will work for you, Evie.”
“So, I can return? If I want?”
He nodded slowly giving me a sly smile.
My fingers held onto the softness of the dress shirt beneath his suit jacket. I slowly slipped it off him, leaving it to fall to the floor.
It was silent for a moment. The apartment was so quiet that you could only hear the quite hum of the Sub-Zero refrigerator.
“What do you need, Evie?” he said pressing my body against the granite countertop.
“I need you,” I said softly, looking into his eyes.
He gripped my ass tightly, setting me on the granite countertop, reaching under my skirt, sliding my panties down. I spread my legs and he ran his hands firmly along the inside of them, giving me an undeniably sexy, hooded gaze, taking me in with those green eyes of his that I missed so much. I missed him.
Quickly, I wriggled out of my dress and Luke scrambled to unbutton his pants. When I decided he wasn’t going fast enough, I tore his expensive shirt, watching all the buttons scatter across the tile floor. Luke only laughed, watching my desperation to see his bare flesh. I couldn’t get him naked fast enough. When the material peeled away from his chest, I let out a loud sigh, taking in all his gorgeousness. I raked my fingers over his carved pecs and then let them graze over his cut abs. It should have been a crime to look this good. God, I missed this man so fucking much.
“Luke,” I whispered, crushing his mouth with my own, consuming him with my lips and tongue. “We used to call you Mr. Hot Suit.”
“What?” he said, running his lips along the shell of my ear, inching closer to me.
“Because you were so fucking sexy,” I hissed kissing his lips.
His hands palmed my ass, then he lifted me from the floor, settling me on the center island. I parted my legs, pulling him closer to me. I pressed my nose into the tanned skin on his shoulder, inhaling the scent of his warm skin.
“I missed you,” I told him again and again.
“I know, Evie. I missed you too but I always planned to come back...for you. You have to believe that. If I had a choice I would have never been apart from you.” He brushed his lips over mine.
He yanked me to the edge of the granite countertop, when a loud growl vibrated through his chest. The sound of belt buckle hitting the floor when he dropped his pants only made me hotter. I gazed down between us, staring at the huge cock between his legs that I’d missed so much. Before I could speak, in one stroke Luke was inside of me, fucking me hard and holding me tight in his iron grip.
“So fucking good,” he said slowing, sliding in and out of me at a tortuous pace that had me screaming his name.
“Luke,” I rasped out, feeling my pussy clenching hard around him. “I love you.”
His powerful weight jerked upward, with every hard stroke he made with his big cock into my tight pussy that was begging to be filled with him. My body was wrenched upwards violently, with each powerful stroke. Luke heaved and groaned each time he slipped out of me and pushed back in. I was a mewling sweaty mess, desperate to come, consumed by the weight of him. Luke slid his large hand up the back of my neck, curling his fingers around my neck. I mustered an expression that was somewhere between a smile and a scowl, when he moved harder, boring his green eyes into mine before pressing a kiss to my lips. His hot sticky skin melded with my own sweat, creating a heat between us that I was certain was melting my brain.
I cried out and whimpered, digging my fingers into his hard shoulder, falling apart at the mercy of his stroke.
“I love you, Evie,” he whispered against my cheek, when he buried himself deeper inside of me.
I was coming, screaming out his name with helplessly quivering thighs, feeling my insides clench and spasm around the thick length of his cock. Luke let out a savage noise and stilled completely, gripping me like he wanted to teach me a lesson. His beautiful face twisted into painful ecstasy and his cock jerked hard and deep inside my pussy when he came, filling me with his cum. Luke let out a long hoarse groan that sent chills down my spine, while he held me against him.
Dropping my head against his shoulder, I listened to our breathing and felt the pounding of my heart that seemed to be settling into the same rhythm as Luke’s. I grazed my lips over his sweat-slicked skin, breathing him in.
I loved this man so much, more than I could ever make sense of. He wasn’t human, yet I
still wanted him. If Luke ever left me again, I knew I wouldn’t survive it. Feeling the tears spill from my eyes, I buried my face in his neck. They were happy tears with nothing sad about them. I had everything I’d ever needed. Luke was here in the flesh, back for me. All mine.
“What do you need, Evie?”
I remained silent, floating in this moment with him, never wanting it to end. Slowly, I lifted my sleepy eyes to meet his blazing green ones. Luke blinked slowly, giving me a cute smile.
“What do you need, Evie?” he repeated in a low voice, running his thick fingers through my hair.
“I need you,” I said resting my head against his chest. “I just need you, Luke.”
EPILOGUE
One Year Later
Evie
On a warm July evening, I sat on the porch of my grandparents’ old house in Rachel, waiting for Luke. The night sky is clear and the stars, that are distant light years away, twinkle above. I peer through the eye piece of my telescope, which points to the Orion Nebula. It stunningly glows red, green, and blue, hanging like a sword below the belt of Orion.
The sound of the crickets against the quiet relaxes me. Sipping slowly from a cup of mint tea, I patiently wait to hear Luke’s footsteps tread along the gravel. I hadn’t seen him in two days. When Luke did return, we stayed in Rachel for a few days and then headed back to Las Vegas. It was so peaceful here.
There was something I loved about both places. Much like Luke now, I had two homes, but I truly felt like my home was wherever he was. I spent time aboard the SS Everest here and there, whenever Luke needed to return home. I would visit sometimes just to spend time with Eden, who finally admitted to Archer that she was in love with him.
Ariana and Karl remained in Arizona, even though I saw them often. The pair were expecting their first baby soon and Ariana remained my best friend.
I hadn’t been sick in forever. I didn’t get the sniffles or the stomach bug. I was impervious to illness it seemed and if I was physically injured, I healed fast with no complications. I tried to stay away from medical professionals on Earth as much as I could, fearing that my healing abilities would be reported. The government would likely kidnap me for research and I would never be seen again.
I recently graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with dual master’s degrees in physics and atmospheric science, due to the advanced pace I was able to complete it at. I was now in the middle of pursuing my PhD in both. I wanted to become a full-time research scientist. Currently, I was completing research in particle physics, cosmology, and theoretical astrophysics. My PhD thesis would eventually be on connections between early universe theory and astronomical observation.
I purchased Martin’s Diner four months ago, from his father. He was happy to be rid of the place. Mr. Martin now worked for me. With the help of Tom and Dana, we revamped the menu and renovated the place. Martin’s Diner had always been popular with the locals and tourists passing through. Now the diner was a better version of itself. Each time I stepped into the place, it reminded me of how Luke and I met.
When Luke wasn’t here, I spent most of my time conducting research in the UNLV’s Fleischman Planetarium with Tyler and Miranda. They had a massive following now of people who lived and breathed off their research about outer space and alien life-forms. Tyler and Miranda still didn’t know my secret and never would.
Tyler and Miranda joined Luke and me for dinner on numerous occasions. Luke liked them both. I think he found them amusing. Luke gave Tyler and Miranda credit secretly, where it was due. He told me they both knew so much…but they could never prove it. Luke always gave me a sexy grin after making that statement.
Steven and I remain good friends. He married the stripper I found him with on New Year’s Eve, a year ago. They’re expecting their first child. I don’t see Steven often, but when I do, he always tells me I’m the one that got away.
I scribble words into the notebook I have in my lap, reviewing Miranda and Tyler’s research on artificial gravity.
“There has yet to be identified a completely effective counter measurement for mitigating effects of weightlessness on humans...”
I continue reading, until I finish the paper. Tyler proposed centrifugation, as many other scientists had theorized before but I knew better after being aboard the SS Everest, without dealing with the effects of low or no gravity.
The crunching of gravel and heavy footsteps clunking along wooden stairs causes me to look up.
“Hey, babes,” Luke says in his deep voice as he approaches.
He looks sexy as ever in a black suit, with a crisp white dress shirt underneath. A black necktie dangles from his neck loosely and his hair looks as though he had spent the better part of the last hour running his hands through it. Luke’s green eyes hold my attention while he saunters towards me across the porch. I stand right before Luke wraps his strong arms around my middle, pulling me tight against him.
“Where do you want to go, Evie, with me?” he whispers against my lips, kissing me.
“Anywhere.” I giggle. “As long as I’m with you.”
