David winced.
“To be fair, I expected to heal from it a bit faster than this,” he admitted.
“You were stabbed by an elf-blade,” Riley pointed out. “Those wounds don’t heal. They’re almost invariably fatal because they don’t heal, don’t clot. It’s a…particularly vicious form of magic, designed to take on regenerators.”
“That’s not reassuring.”
“Unlike, say, me, you will heal. Eventually,” the Elfin Lord told him. “I can accelerate it a bit, but that bit of magic is tied into the forging of the blade. Only Langley could fully heal you.”
“I’d be happy to stop bleeding.”
“I can help with that.” Riley laid his hands over the bandage gently, sparks of light blue energy jumping from his hands to David’s Sight. Some of the blackness that clung to the wound in his eyes dissipated, but much of it stubbornly remained.
“With that and your own gifts, you’ll heal like anyone else would from a blade through their shoulder,” Riley pointed out. “Look forward to physiotherapy.”
David swallowed a curse.
“Was it worth it?” he asked.
“Well, the Elfin and Omicron will now stand together to protect the USA against the demonic incursions Ekhmez instigated. Dominic Langley, responsible for dozens of deaths, goes to jail. You even broke the Familias Romanov along the way.
“I’d say you did the job,” Riley told him. “Is there anything more we can ask of a cop?”
