That was a weird one to think about. Being related to Lucifer. I still couldn't quite swallow that one. It wasn't easy to feel normal walking down the street with that one in mind. But with Edwin? Even though he had glowing eyes that nobody else could see, everything was right as rain when we were together. None of it mattered to me anymore.
Edwin still hunted for souls with the Brotherhood once or twice a month. He had a duty to fulfill, after all. Without someone on the throne of Hell to keep the Druids from summoning them, they were still wreaking havoc. Now that I had been apart from them for several months, I fully realized just how crazy they were. It was still hard to admit. That had been my life. All of it. Until Edwin.
He popped out of the kitchen again, a faint frown in place. "Listen, I'm not going to say I burned literally every single part of breakfast, including some of your pans, but . . ."
I got up from the couch and walked over to him, hooking my arms over his shoulders. "The café down the street then? No Druids there," I said with a laugh. "I've checked."
"No Druids? And breakfast streetside? In New York? With a beautiful woman?" He flashed me a wide grin. "What more could a demon ask for?"
"Cooking lessons," I mumbled before darting for the front door. I let him catch me and pull me into a fierce kiss. Because there was nothing else in this world I would ever want more than the pleasure of Edwin's lips on mine.
