The Scribbler Guardian 1: Arks Of Octava Page 23

by Lucian Bane

Poe roared as a huge chunk of his being ripped from him. He looked down at her, touching her face with a trembling hand. “Tell it. Tell it my beautiful Contessant Juliet.” Poe fought to hold on long enough to give his love that one last gift.

She wailed the story to him in a rush of brokenhearted words, never taking her eyes from his. “Once upon a time, there was a prince and a princess, but…” she sobbed, then shook her head. “The princess never knew love until she met her Prince. She was wretched and broken until he loved her with a beautiful and perfect love! And then the evil darkness came to take him away from her, but the evil darkness didn’t know that the prince’s love made the princess magical! And if she just held on to the prince with all her might, then nothing in the worlds; nothing in all the worlds could take him away from her! Nothing!” she screamed, holding his legs tight.

Divinities! Poe gasped as white power swirled around her and him until a tempest of energy bound them together. Poe realized in impossible awe what was happening. She hadn’t just used the Sound Scribbler’s pen to tell a sweet love story. She’d scribbled them both into another one. One that demanded another end.

Poe began to resist the tearing as his Scribbler fought her way to standing, her arms tight around his body. He finally managed to get his own arms around her.

  "Believe with me."

Her whispered command energized Poe and he held on to her beautiful story with all the power he possessed.

He yelled in agony, as they both flew through the portal, the opposite dimensions fighting to rip them asunder. “I believe!” he roared with all his might. “I believe!”

Sudden silence exploded inside him and the air ceased to be. There was no sight or sound as he floated with his Scribbler, still locked in his tight embrace.

“Go forth, Scribbler Guardian.” The words whispered all around him—carried on the caress of soft orange light.

  The Sound Scribbler.

“You are the first of a new kind—master of both realms. But your fight is not over. You must guard Kane. And you must hide Contessant. You must not let the Paranormal Guardian find your Scribbler."
