Our parents get along great too, laughing over games of cards and sharing recipes with each other. Ezra and I told my parents about my plan to start a website to sell homemade products and how I would love to sell their items and they were all for it. I could see the relief in their eyes and I knew that the traveling life had finally gotten old for them. They’ve already started looking for a small house close by. I think we’re all excited to be able to spend more time together.

My mom and Ezra’s have been helping me plan our wedding for the last couple of days and we’ve gotten a lot done. I want it to be a surprise for Ezra and he said he doesn’t care as long as it happens soon. I tell him to be patient and he always says that he would wait forever for me.

He doesn’t know yet, but he won’t have to wait long. Our wedding is tomorrow. I smile up at my soon to be husband as he leads me over to our car. He helps me inside and we head over to his parent’s house. They wanted to make dinner this time and invited my parents over as well.

“I’m so proud of you.” Ezra says as he leans across the console and kisses me.

  “Thank you.”

We head to dinner and I smile, so thankful that I took that film class and that it led me to the best man that I’ve ever met.

  Chapter Sixteen

  Ezra

  TEN YEARS LATER…

My wife pulls up the drive and I step out onto the porch as her and our son step out and grab the bags out of the back. I head down to help them and smile as Brexly leans up on her tiptoes to press a kiss against my lips.

  “Did you guys get everything?”

They had gone back to school shopping today while I stayed home and took care of all of the chores. My son bounces past me, excited about all of the new clothes. Alex is nine and already close to six feet. I’m sure that he’s going to be tall like me and while I’m nervous about how he might be treated, I know that he will always be welcome and supported by our family.

Brexly and I got married right after her graduation in a small ceremony down by the lake, our lake. Our parents were there along with the priest and in twenty minutes we were pronounced husband and wife.

Brexly’s parents found a little cottage not far from my parent’s place and moved in a month after we were married. Brexly set up her website right after college and kept busy taking pictures of her parents’ products and setting everything up. It just started to take off right before she gave birth to our son.

It was nice that she worked from home then because I was able to help her with the business and with Alex. Both of our parents loved to babysit him and they still spoil him rotten. He’ll be their only grandchild since the pregnancy was so rough on Brexly. Alex was a big baby and she had to have an emergency c-section. She could barely carry him to term and ended up losing a lot of blood when she went into labor.

I help Brexly haul in the last of the bags and laugh as I watch Alex dart up the stairs to put everything away. Brexly collapses dramatically on the couch and I laugh as she picks up her feet for me to sit down next to her. I tug her shoes off and start to rub her feet and she groans, stretching before she smiles at me.

“You know what I was thinking today?” She asks.

  “What’s that?”

“When Alex grows up and asks us how we fell in love, we’re going to be able to tell him that we fell in love when Bigfoot kidnapped me.”

I roll my eyes as Brexly laughs already knowing that Alex would love that story.

  “I love you, Brexly.”

  “I love you too.”

She sits up and rests her head on my shoulder. I wrap my arms around her, holding her close as I breathe out a content sigh. Kidnapping Brexly was the best decision of my life.

  The End.
