Everything relaxes over dinner on the patio. Even Steve seems to sense that his big brother barbs are falling on deaf ears and switches the topic to his strategy to get transferred to Hawaii so he can get to a beach with less traffic.
As we’re finishing, Damon looks over at his father. “Dad, I’d like to get Gran’s ring for Kate. Do you have it in the safe here?”
His father nods. “You can get it now if you like. Combination is the same.”
Damon gets up. “Back in a sec.” He whispers to me and goes back into the house. He re-emerges a few minutes later. “Ready to go, Kate?”
“Um, sure?”
Neither of the two other men seem surprised, or upset. His Dad just stands and says, “Let me know when you’re settled in your new place.”
Damon nods in return and surreptitiously thwacks his brother on the back of the head. We’re back in the car and headed to the hotel before I can catch my breath.
“Glad that’s done,” Damon says with a sigh of relief.
“You’re not close?”
“We are— just not so much in person since Mom died. Dad hates to cook, Steve still thinks he’s twenty-five instead of thirty-five and we mostly keep up by text and email when there’s something to say. You’re a little too important to just drop in a text.”
“Thanks, I think.”
DAMON
I’m not sure why I’m so nervous. Kate and are officially married. My brother was only mildly annoying and my Dad didn’t seem quite as shocked as I’d expected. But now that we’ve checked into the hotel room in downtown San Diego I’m sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for Kate to come out of the bathroom and I’m all thumbs and nerves.
Finally, she emerges wearing her thin cotton pajamas printed all over with little cupcakes which quite frankly are sexier than any tarted up satin and lace. Her skin is damp and glowing from her shower and her eyes are smiling in my direction.
I swallow hard and pull her down on my lap. “Kate…”
“Damon.” She says solemnly but with a slight quirk at the corner of her mouth.
“You laughing at me?”
“Not really. But you’re very ominous all of a sudden. I’d gotten used to the take no prisoners guy, not sure where this is going?”
I sigh. She’s right. “Sooo we’re doing things in a less traditional order.” I pull the small antique ring box out of my pocket. “This was my great-grandmother’s. My gran left it to me in her will when I was about twelve. She said I was to give it to the woman who could keep up with me for a lifetime. That’s you, Kate. You’re already my wife. Will you be my true love, too?”
I look down at her but instead of looking at the ring, Kate’s looking at me. Her eyes are shining. “Yes, Damon.” Then she’s kissing me and I realize what a fast learner she is. She pushes me back on the bed and climbs on top.
I give her a minute to explore and then I make sure the art deco diamond ring is securely on her finger in front of her wedding band before I flip her on her back. Seeing my wife, my Kate, spread out beneath me wearing my ring has me desperate to sheath myself in her sweet pussy and show her what she means to me. “Never going to let you go, Kate.”
“Good, I’m going to hold you to that. Right now I want your cock inside me.” She takes my hand and guides it inside her pajama bottoms to her warm, wet pussy. “Right here.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Epilogue
KATE
6 months later
I’m pinching myself, my life is so good right now and a completely different world from the one I left in Sala Bay.
Damon and I landed in Berlin just three weeks after our wedding. Through the luck of the informal army network, we scored this magnificent 18th-century apartment in the old part of Berlin. The ceilings are a mile high, I swear, but it’s the tall French doors with delicate iron balconies that I love best. Damon won’t let me stand on the balconies though, he’s worried they’re not structurally sound after all this time.
I got the position with Evan’s firm about a month after we moved and it’s been absolutely perfect. I have a few conference calls during the day or whenever it’s convenient for all the time zones concerned and the rest of the time I get to do what I love best which is research and writing persuasive arguments.
Damon says he likes this new deployment more than the last. I’ve been working on him losing the military cool once he takes the uniform off. Don’t get me wrong I love the whole alpha command thing but his smile is just as delicious and I like seeing him relaxed. He understands my point about leaving work at work and he’s been making an effort. It’s probably no big surprise that he wants to kick off personal time in the bedroom first and sometimes I indulge him. Sometimes I make him have a conversation first and sometimes we go out into the city and do a little exploring.
Ever since our first time together we’ve never really discussed trying to have children, we’ve just not been actively trying not to have them. A big part of me was afraid that if we set it as a goal, it wouldn’t happen and then we’d both be disappointed. This is why I’m walking around on the intricate parquet floors in the living area holding a positive pregnancy test anxiously watching the clock which says there’s at least twenty minutes before Damon is due home.
I’m in mid-pace at the far end when the apartment door opens and Damon is there looking like a broody recruitment poster. “Kate? You okay, babe?”
I run over and throw myself at him, hiding the little stick behind his back. I kiss him until I feel his erection pressing into my belly. He’s holding me like he hasn’t seen me for two weeks and really, really missed me. (He saw me this morning when he reluctantly left me in bed with a smile on my face.) He’s walking us back towards the bedroom, his hands cupping my ass firmly and his tongue thrusting against mine. This man can multitask.
I pull back just enough to talk. “Looks like you’re just going to make Dad rank before you’re thirty.”
He looks puzzled and then I see the gears click into place. “Kate?”
I wave the little white stick in front of his face. “We should probably make sure it sticks though, hunh?” I grin, hoping he doesn’t go all over-protective treating me like breakable china for the next nine months.
Turns out I don’t need to worry, he’s gentle but still says he has to try to get my relative sexual age closer to his so he hasn’t let go of his ‘rule’ of three orgasms for me for every one of his. I try to talk him down to two and then he points out that I’m the one that gets to sleep in because I work from home. I do love a good negotiation!
The End
Thanks for Reading & Reviewing!
I hope you enjoyed the second story in the Alpha Corps series. When you’ve caught your breath from Damon and Kate’s strategizing would you be willing to share your thoughts by leaving a review?
It’s one of the best ways to get Amazon’s giant computer to tell other readers they might like it. It also reminds the author that people might read the one she’s still working on if she just got busy and finished it!
