His Taste (By His Command #7) (billionaire domination / erotic romance) Page 8

by Ana W. Fawkes

I pictured Jonathan standing at the window, like he had done those few nights after he thought I had fallen asleep. What had he been really looking at? What had he been looking through?

“He’s an intense man,” I said. “A genius in so many ways.”

I let the intention of sex linger around us, making sure Kellen’s mind had the chance to picture Jonathan and I together. That alone would drive him mad.

“He’s a barbaric criminal,” Kellen spat at me. “He took it all... all of it.”

“What did he take?” I asked, keeping calm.

I even reached for Kellen’s hand, to add to the emotion.

  “He took... her...”

Kellen blinked and for a second I thought he was going to cry.

  “He took who?”

“My love,” Kellen said, his voice almost a whisper. “He took everything from me. I stayed for her. I backed away for her. I let her walk her own path... and there he was, Jonathan Black, standing there, ready to take her from me.”

“He stole your girlfriend,” I said.

“She wasn’t my girlfriend. She was my everything.”

  “I understand.”

“But that’s not the hardest part,” Kellen said. He downed the rest of his scotch and slammed the glass on the table. “That’s not the hardest part at all...”

  “Then what is?” I asked.

“She listened to him,” Kellen said. “I respected her and backed away. I could have forced her to drop out and move with me. But I didn’t. I stayed and loved her, wanted her, needed her. And she walked away, to him, and listened to him. She obeyed his words, she followed him, she... loved him in a way she never loved me...”

“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I’m sorry that happened.”

“It wasn’t that happened... it was he happened. He did it. On purpose. My love. My Katherine, gone forever.”

I let go of Kellen’s hand and sat back. I casually tried to look around, hoping to see Jonathan Black soon. He wasn’t in sight and Kellen started to look scary.

“But then I heard his name pop up over and over,” Kellen said. “I heard he went to some hideout spot after a murder investigation opened. I heard he had a beautiful woman with him. And I wanted to know. I wanted to see... and I did... Isabella... I did...”

“Wait a second,” I said. “People talked about me and Jonathan?”

Kellen ignored the question. “Then I saw you. And I realized what he had done... and I realized what I needed to do.”

  “Kellen, look at me.”

Kellen looked at me. He smiled. “I’m going to love you. I’m going to take you from him. Payback.”

Kellen stood up. He appeared ten feet tall and strong. I looked for Jonathan. Where the hell was he? Before I knew it, Kellen had his hand on my hand, squeezing.

“I won’t fuck up this time,” Kellen said. “I’ll spoil you rotten, Isabella. I’ll buy you things Jonathan Black wouldn’t think of... but you’re going to listen to me. To my every word and command.”

He pulled at my hand. I wanted to scream but I didn’t want to cause a scene. I couldn’t do that. Not with Jonathan in the hotel. Not with the circumstances.

I stood from the table, hoping I could regain whatever I lost. I wasn’t even sure how I lost this. I put my hand on Kellen’s shoulder and squeezed.

“I’m going to love you so much,” Kellen said. “In a way you’ll never understand.”

“Not here,” I said. “Not with all these people around.”

Kellen moved at me. His lips were a centimeter away when I turned my head. His lips and tongue touched my cheek. I cringed and again wanted to scream. I didn’t but my body still needed to seek release. So I groaned. Not the right sound to make right then.

“He’s not coming for you,” Kellen said. “Because he’s busy, isn’t he? If he loved you so much he wouldn’t let you out of his sight. I know I won’t.”

  “Kellen, stop,” I said.

I pushed at his chest and he laughed. He had a size advantage over me but Jonathan had the ultimate size advantage. The only problem was that Jonathan needed to be there.

“We’re going to fly far away.”

Kellen touched my hair and backed up, pushing my chair out of the way. I pulled my wrist and broke away from him. He stood there, inches away from me, his eyes dazed and spinning. He didn’t see me. He didn’t see Isabella Grace. He saw the woman Jonathan Black stole from him.

  “I’ll be back,” I said.

“Come with me now,” he said. “He won’t take you again... you can still be Isabella... I’ll only imagine you as Katherine in my head.”

  Kellen smiled a sickening smile.

Jonathan should have been there by now and he wasn’t.

  Something was wrong.

  Very wrong.

“She came back,” Kellen said. “I knew she would. And I saw her... and her heart is still lost... but I found a new one...”

  She came back?

I turned and saw the doors to the restaurant. Beyond them were the elevators. Beyond them was the hotel room.

  “Jonathan,” I whispered.

My feet were moving and I expected Kellen to grab my hair or try something insane.

  He didn’t.

He called out to me though... “I’ll wait for you too, Isabella...”

I shivered and plowed through the doors and dove at the elevator. I pressed the button over and over, even though it was already lit up.

Nothing could get me to the room faster.

My heart raced as it sank. My nerves pinched.

Nothing made much sense but I knew one thing... if Jonathan Black said he was going to be somewhere, he’d be there.

His absence told me one thing.

  Jonathan was in trouble.

  -11-

  I found the door open.

I touched the door handle and whimpered.

I opened the door and the room was mostly dark. The curtains were open and a soft light came from the kitchen. It took my eyes a few seconds to adjust before I saw the silhouette of someone sitting in a chair in front of the window.

  “Mr. Black?” I asked.

  No response.

  “Jonathan?”

My hand shook as I reached for the light switch. The lights came on and I scanned the hotel room. Everything looked normal with the exception of the person in the chair.

  It wasn’t Jonathan Black.

The person had tall hair... almost like...

“Hello, Isabella Grace,” a voice said.

  ...a woman...

  I gasped.

The woman stood from the chair, her sultry frame coming to life thanks to the dress she wore. It was a red dress hugging the woman’s body. The way the dress touched her and the way it looked against the light, I knew it. It was the red dress I wore when I had my first date with Kellen.

“Who are you?” I asked. “Where’s Jonathan?”

“Oh, Isabella, don’t be so worried. Don’t be so shy either. We’re good friends by now...”

“I don’t know who you are,” I said. I looked at the bedroom, seeing the door wide open. I cried for Jonathan and then I saw something that took my breath.

I saw a black shoe on the bed. That’s all I could see. A black shoe pointed in the air. Jonathan was on his back. And at the very least, unconscious.

“What did you do?” I asked.

I looked and saw the woman standing a foot away.

  “Isabella Grace,” she whispered.

She touched my face and I shook my head.

“We really do look a lot alike, don’t we?”

“Who are you?” I asked again.

But it started to sink in. Kellen said the woman Jonathan stole from him looked like me. I looked at the woman and saw similar features. This woman though looked more capable of anything and looked ready to kill.

“I got worried when I didn’t hear from you,” she said. “You shouldn’t have ignored me.”

  “Ignored
you... I don’t... wait...”

It hit me. It hit me hard.

  “You’re Katherine,” I said.

The woman smiled. “But you can call me ‘K’.”
