“Precisely,” Mark said, entering the room, also in a suit and tie, and grinning. “Knowing and having to wait is worse.”
Jake stood, plucked a red rose from the arrangement, and moved to the center of the room. Luca picked a rose and strolled to stand beside Jake. Mark reached for the last red rose and placed a guiding hand at the small of my back. “Join us, Lora.”
Standing opposite the men, I watched them drop to their knees. Luca, Mark, and Jake.
“Sweetheart, you know how much we love you, and that we want to make a home with you.” Luca took my left hand and lowered his lips to it, brushing soft kisses over the knuckles. “You make me so happy. You are, and always will be, the center of my universe. I love you so much. You have my heart and soul.”
Jake reached for my right hand, and turned it to place a kiss in the center of my palm, before clasping it in both of his. “Bella, you brighten every room with your presence. Your kind spirit and joyful smiles make me so happy. You drive me to be a better person. I’m addicted to you, and I can’t do without you. I love you, Bella. You have my heart and soul.”
Tears filled my eyes, and happiness swelled in my chest. I pulled on their hands to make them stand, but neither budged. They each placed my hands in Mark’s and then moved their hands to Mark’s shoulders.
“Lorabella Simmons, you are my alpha and my omega. I love you more than I could ever express. You, baby, have my heart and soul.”
I squeezed his hands and dropped to my knees. I looked from one handsome face to the other, and gathered the strength to speak. “I never thought I could love so much, or that I could feel so loved. You absolutely have my heart and soul.”
Jake reached into his jacket pocket and retrieved a small square box. He opened the lid and presented a gorgeous ring, with three princess cut diamonds rounding the top.
“Sweetheart, will marry us?” Lucas asked, feathering my cheek with his fingers.
“All of you?”
“All of us,” they replied together.
“Yes, yes, and yes!”
Mark exhaled loudly and crushed my mouth with his kiss. Jake slipped the ring on my finger and followed suit. Luca was last, but not least. Ending the kiss, he rose and pulled me to my feet. “Let’s go.”
“Where?” I asked, bewildered with his request.
“Mr. Charles is an unconventional minister. He’s agreed to marry and unite us as one,” Jake explained. “He’s waiting on the dining patio.”
“But is it legal?”
“Legal just means a signature on a piece of paper,” Mark said, the by-the-book attorney surprising me more than I ever imagined. “This will be a resort wedding, but a true marriage in our hearts. When we return to New York, one of us, it doesn’t matter which one, will make it legal.”
Speechless, I didn’t know how to respond. I stepped back and gingerly lowered to the edge of the couch. I dropped my head into my hands and massaged my temples. “Is this the same Mark that I know speaking?”
“We’ve known each other for years,” Jake said. “Luca and Mark are my best friends.”
“We accept that you are the woman for each of us. We love you, and we love each other. I trust Mark and Jake with my life,” Luca said.
“And we all trust you,” Mark added. “There is nothing that will keep us from being a family. The rest is just details. We’ll figure them out.”
“We can share,” Jake said. “Can you find enough room in your heart to love us all?”
“I have for a long time. My love for you is so great, that it hurt until I admitted it aloud.”
“Are we going or what?” Luca asked.
“Going,” we all replied.
* * * *
“Move along, gentlemen,” a familiar voice said, catching my hand and pulling me away from my future husbands as we stepped onto the patio. “We get to prep the bride and walk her down the aisle.”
Jake shook first G’s hand, then Al’s, Mark and Luca followed. With a quick kiss on the tip of my nose, Mark released my hands to my friends. “We’ll be waiting.”
“Surprise!” G said, planting loud kisses on my cheeks. “You’re such a gorgeous bride.”
“How?” I looked from G to Al. They had left days ago. They’d returned to Manhattan.
“Mark called us last night. He told us they’d bought the ring and were planning to propose,” Al said. “We weren’t about to miss your wedding, and we seriously didn’t think you’d say no, baby girl.”
“You’d be crazy to say no to any one of those hunks, let alone all of them.” G brushed some gloss on my lips. “We took the first flight out of JFK this morning.”
“Thank you,” I said, feeling tears fill my eyes.
“No crying,” G said. “We don’t need puffy eyes for the pictures.”
“I know I love them and I want to marry them, but I don’t know which one to introduce as my husband when we get home,” I whispered, tasting the strawberry gloss on my lips. “I mean, I know in my heart they’ll all be my husbands and I’ll be their wife, but not everyone will know that or be able to understand.” I licked my lips again, finding the sweetness of the gloss comforting. “The two of you will know, and this may sound absurd, but my mother will be thrilled, so she’ll know. I guess I’ll let them decide.”
A weight lifted off my chest as I said the words. They’d decide. I liked that.
Al smiled, and gave me a hug. “Let’s touch up your hair in the dressing room.”
“They’re waiting,” I pointed out.
“Let them,” G said, taking my hand and leading me down a short hallway. He opened the door and stepped aside.
“Mom!”
“Sweetie, you look beautiful,” my mother exclaimed, wrapping her arms around me. “My little girl has blossomed into the most precious woman. I’m so happy for you.”
“How did you know?”
“The boys called. They asked for my blessing.” She held my face and kissed my cheeks. “Of course I said yes.” She glanced at Al and G. “I told my little girl they were good and respectful boys.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Al agreed. “However, I think they may be growing impatient for their bride. They don’t know you came with us, so they don’t know what we’ve done with Lora.”
“Oh, let them stew a bit,” my mother waved a dainty hand in the air and giggled. “She’s worth it.”
“That she is,” G said.
“Did you tell the rest of the family?” I asked, thinking of my sister and her baby-daddy.
“Not exactly,” Mom said, shrugging a bit guiltily.
“Mom, what does that mean?”
“Well, after we spoke the other day, I kind of let it slip that your boss had whisked you off for a romantic holiday. I didn’t think I owed them details about which boss. When Al and G offered to accompany me for the wedding, I didn’t give them any more information. It’s none of their business which boss you marry or if you marry all of them.”
Al and G laughed, but I just shook my head. “I guess that says it all.”
Mom cleared her throat. “Sweetie, I’ve brought you something old.” She draped my grandmother’s pearls around my neck and placed a gentle hand over them at the base of my throat. “They’re yours now. Wear them with love and happiness, always.”
“Thank you, Mom.” I wrapped my arms around her neck and hugged her tight. I had the best mother in the world. “I’ll treasure them forever.”
“We have something blue,” G said, producing a sapphire tennis bracelet. “Blue to remind you of the day we met by the sea. You’re stuck with us, Sexy Lora. We’re friends for life.”
“We are, baby girl,” Al added, handing me a colorful bouquet of orchids and calla lilies. “Do you have something new?”
I wiggled my left ring finger and flashed my new ring, to a chorus of repeated oohs and ahs. “Most definitely,” I said, thanking and kissing my friends. “I’m so grateful you’re all here to share in our happiness. Now take me to my
men. I’m ready to get married.”
“The clock is ticking,” Mom said, giggling as we left the room.
Al and G walked ahead, leaving my mother to walk me down the aisle. We waited until they arrived at the floral wedding arch and a Reggae band struck up a unique rendition of the Wedding March.
Mark met my gaze and smiled his approval. Jake and Lucas wiped their brows, then rubbed their chests.
Did they think for a moment I’d get cold feet?
Mom looped my hand through her arm and strolled toward the makeshift altar. Mr. Charles welcomed us all and performed an exquisite ceremony. We pledged our love and care, promising to always put our family before anything else.
When it was time for the rings, each of the men placed a thin gold Cartier band on my right ring finger. Mark’s was white, Jake’s yellow, and Luca’s pink.
“Together, we promise you a whole love forever,” they said in unison.
“By the power vested in me by the love in our world, I now pronounce husbands and wife. Gentlemen, you may kiss your bride.”
