“Everyone’s fine. I wanted to see, how you were.” I sat in the chair in front of him, as he leaned back in his chair. In all the time, I’ve worked for Grayson Mandrake, I have never seen him out of sorts. This was new. This was all new, and he looked as if he hadn’t a damn clue what to do. “Gwen, said she spoke with Emmalin today.”
His eyes lit up, at the sound of her name. “How is she? Did she sound okay?”
I sighed. “Well, according to Gwen, she’s acting like she’s okay, but she’s not.”
Grayson, stared at his desk, before finally speaking. “She won’t talk to me. Not unless it’s about Emersyn, and even then, she barely says more than two sentences to me. I found out last week that Emmalin came down with a bug of some sort, and I was pissed she didn’t tell me. When I confronted her about it, she said ‘it wasn’t my concern anymore.’”
He sighed as he got up, going over to his bar and making a drink. He held the bottle up to me, and I declined. He came back, to his chair, drink in hand. “I fucked up. I know, I fucked up, and for the first time in my entire life, I don’t know how to fix it. I don’t know what to do.”
He stood up, going to the window, that overlooked all of Chicago. After a few minutes, he finally turned and faced me. “If there’s anything I do know, is that I won’t give her what she wants.” He shook his head. “I won’t. I told her once before, that the ring on her finger is never coming off. So, if she thinks she’s going to fight me on one, then she has another thing coming. Divorce is not an option.”

I hope you all enjoyed Hawkins and Gwen, as much as I did. It was very important to me, to have Gwen’s story told, because a lot of people can relate. Parts of this story was based on actual events. You as the reader, can determine what you think was fact, and what you think is fabricated, but the truth will never be revealed, to protect those involved.
