Fighting For Them Page 7

Okay… “I feel normal-ish right now. Should I be worried? You didn’t let Wade turn me into an undead, did you?”

Dimitri laughed. “No. But he said if you didn’t wake up soon, he was going to.”

I met Wade’s gaze and he shrugged. “I can’t lose you.”

Wyatt picked up my hand. “None of us can. We’re in love with you.”

Tears filled my eyes. My chest tightened while filling up with love at the same time. “I love all of you, too.”

They each kissed me before Zane said, “When Salrus shot you with the energy bolt, he hit the stone, destroying it. The blast rebounded, killing him.”

Okay. Wow. Death by his own hand. I was almost disappointed that I didn’t get the make the kill shot.

The bedroom door opened and my mom stuck her head in. She met my gaze and smiled. “Oh, thank the gods.” She entered and frowned. “You really need a bigger bed.”

Zane shook his head. “No, ma’am. I’m not into the group thing. When it’s my night, Reese is all mine.”

My mouth fell open and my eyes grew large. I couldn’t believe he spoke so boldly to my mom. But Mom just laughed and waved him off. “Lewis and I sent the demons back to Hell.”

I stared at her. The feeling that she wasn’t done here nipped at my intuition. “How long are you staying?”

“Until you no longer need me. I can’t rest until the council is either replaced with the union of the half-breeds or dismantled altogether.” She drifted closer to the bed.

I held out my hands to her. “Then I’ll take my time replacing them.”

I didn’t want her to leave again. Losing her a second time was going to be hard, but I’d live. When the time came, I’d be a stronger person. “What’s next?”

Zane pointed at me. “You need to rest. Tory has put out a call to the para communities to report any half-breed sighting to us. She has also set up a system of communications. Dad and I are making friends and creating spies. We still need to be careful of those who might be aligned with Harrison.”

I nodded and snuggled back down between Wade and Trevor. I was hungry and had to go pee. I was also way too comfortable to move.

  “I love you guys.”

“Love you, too,” they said in unison.
