Falling For Liam (Falling Book 9) Page 19

by Tracy Lorraine

“What the hell happened to you two?” BJ asks when we stumble into the living room dripping wet and smiling like loons.

“We’re getting married,” Liv squeals as she waves her hand around.

“You’re fucking what?” he asks, his chin almost hitting the floor.

“I asked Liv to marry me.”

“Whoa, shit, man. That’s awesome. Congrats.” He smiles, but it’s not as genuine as I would expect. Standing, BJ reaches for my hand and pulls me into a hug. He soon steps back when he realises we’re soaking wet and freezing cold. “We’ll do this later; go and get sorted,” he says, pushing us towards the stairs.

I’m soon distracted when Liv starts peeling her t-shirt off her damp skin the second we walk into her room. I drop my face to her cleavage and lick at her salty skin as I back her towards the shower.

“Put those damn shoes on you love so much. We’re going out,” I announce when I allow her out of the shower.

“Shoes I love?” she asks with a laugh.

“Fine, shoes I love. Those and a dress. Knickers are optional.”

  “Where are we going?”

“To the shack. The others are meeting us there.”

  “Then I’m definitely wearing underwear.”

  “Hmm, interesting…”

  “What?”

“Just wondering under what circumstances you’d agree not to wear any.”

“Shut up, you idiot.” Shrugging, I quickly run to my room to grab some clothes before returning, sitting on the end of Liv’s bed and watching as she gets herself ready.

“Hey, what’s this all about?” Nicole asks the second we arrive to find her, Dec and BJ sat around a table filled with drinks. The place is empty apart from them, and I wonder if Liam demanded they shut just for us.

Holding my hand up, Nicole’s eyes widen in delight before she squeals, making the guys wince, and jumps up from her chair. “Oh my god. He put a ring on it!” She crashes into me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders. “I’m so fucking happy for you.”

“Thank you.” Glancing over at Liam, I watch as Dec congratulates him.

“Tell me everything. When? Where?” Nicole demands once she’s let my hand go after studying the ring. “Oh, I can’t believe he designed it himself. That’s so romantic,” she swoons before I’ve even had chance to answer her previous questions.

We join the guys on the sofas. Dec pops the top on a bottle of champagne and he pours us all a glass.

“Speech, speech,” Nic chants, looking directly at Liam. My stomach twists when I see a blush colour his cheeks. It’s not very often he’s shy, and I kind of like it.

“I…uh…Who the fuck am I kidding? To the most beautiful girl in the world, my fiancée.” His face lights up as he looks at me, love and lust pouring from his eyes.

“Ugh, just go and fuck her in the back room and get it over with,” BJ mutters, and every pair of eyes in the room snap over to him. “What?” he asks. “You got any proper drink in this place instead of this bubbly shit?”

Everyone’s speechless for a few seconds before Nic stutters an agreement, getting up and running over to the bar. The playful BJ that I’ve come to know and love is nowhere to be seen tonight.

  * * *

“Come on, let’s get the karaoke going,” Nic announces excitedly, as she jumps up and runs towards the stage.

“I think it’s time to cut her off,” I say with a laugh. Between the two of us, we’ve already polished off a bottle of champagne while the guys switched to whiskey a while ago. We all watch as she attempts to get it set up but it’s not long before the alcohol flowing through her veins gets the better of her and she ends up on her arse. “A little help, please,” she pouts, and both Dec and Liam get up and go over.

I watch them for a few minutes before I’m distracted by a giant sigh coming from next to me.

Turning, I look at BJ’s deflated posture. “BJ, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” he grunts, avoiding my eyes and staring out to the dark night beyond.

“Come on, you can tell—” My words are cut off when loud music starts. So instead of continuing with what I wanted to say, I place my hand on his thigh and squeeze gently. My touch must surprise him because he turns to me, his eyes dark and haunted, but a small smile twitches at the corners of his lips in acceptance of my support. I smile back because I’m not sure what else to do. Our eyes hold for a beat and I get the feeling he’s desperate to talk, but the second I hear Liam’s voice fill the room, I have no choice but to turn and look at him up on stage. How he managed to convince Nicole to let him go up first, I’ve no idea.

The first lyrics of Dua Lipa’s ‘Electricity’ flow through me, and I can’t help but smile. Liam stretches his arm out and gestures for me to join him and I’m on my feet and moving towards him before my brain’s even registered the thought.

“This song could be about us,” he whispers in my ear before returning to the mic. I listen for a few seconds before I join in with him and we sing together, hand in hand on stage. A smile splits my face as I realise he’s right about the lyrics. That, and the knowledge that I’ve found everything I’ve ever wanted in this sleepy little seaside town. I look around at my friends, people I didn’t really know until recently, and I feel more at home than I ever have. Not so long ago, I didn’t think a life like this was even a possibility. I was so lost, living a life I hated. I had no idea what was just around the corner and what my life could be like. All it took was one person. One person to show me that I did deserve to be loved like I always dreamed of. One person to show me that I can have the kind of life I’ve always wanted.

It’s long past midnight when we all stumble out of the shack a little—or a lot, worse for wear. I’ve no idea how much BJ knocked back, but he can hardly stand. It takes both Liam and Dec to manhandle him home.

  * * *

“Morning. I wasn’t expecting to see you up this early,” I say when I walk into the kitchen to find BJ leant against the counter with his head hanging low between his shoulders.

He glances up at me and my breath catches at the look on his face. His eyes are dark and his lips pressed into a thin line.

“Ben, please,” I beg. “Please talk to me. What’s going on?”

“It’s…” Spinning around so he rests against the island, he looks up to the ceiling and runs his hands through his hair.

“Come on, you’re like a brother to me,” I say resting my hand on his arm. “You can tell me anything. I only want to help.”

He drops his head and stares at me for the longest time. I can see his internal battle raging in his eyes.

“My stepdad. He…he’s died.” He shows no emotion as he says the words.

I suck in a breath. “I’m so sorr—”

“Don’t,” he snaps, “he doesn’t deserve it. He’s—was—a wanker and a waste of good oxygen.”

  6 months later…

“Liam, what are you doing?” I ask in shock as he grabs my hand and tugs me towards the storage room in the shack. “We’re meant to be getting the food ready for after the service.”

“I know what we’re meant to be doing, but I can’t fucking think straight right now with you in that dress, and I can hardly sit through a wedding like this,” he says, pressing his hardness into my arse.

Butterflies erupt in my stomach at what he’s insinuating. “What if someone comes looking for us?”

“Isn’t that part of the thrill?” Pulling the door open, he pushes me inside ahead of him and feels along the wall for the light switch.

The second the door clicks shut, his hands are in my hair and his lips are on mine, ruining my perfectly applied lipstick.

“Fuck, Liv.” His hands skim over my shoulders and down to my tits, making sure he pinches my overly sensitive nipples before continuing lower. I moan as sparks shoot off around my body. “I can’t get enough of you like this,” he whis
pers in my ear. But he doesn’t have to tell me; I’m well aware of what he thinks of my body right now.

Both his hands land on my growing belly before he drops to his knees and places his lips against my baby bump.

“So fucking hot,” he mutters before pushing the bottom of my dress up over my hips and pulling my knickers to the side. He takes a second to appreciate the sight in front of him before he leans forward and gives me what I need. He’s not the only one this pregnancy makes horny.

“Oh god, Liam,” I whimper as quietly as possible. The last thing I want is to get caught up to no good minutes before my best friend gets married.

“Turn around,” he demands the moment his lips leave me. I do as I’m told and get myself comfortable on the shelf in front of me before I feel him nudging at my entrance.

  * * *

“Where the hell have you two been?” Dec asks the second we step foot out on the decking where the wedding party are gathering. “Wait,” he says looking between the two of us, “don’t answer that. Just please tell me you didn’t do it anywhere near the food.”

  “Dude, no. The storage—”

“Okay,” I sing, cutting off Liam’s oversharing. “Are we all set?”

“I just need my second best man, then my bride.”

“Where the hell is he?” Liam asks. “He was meant to be here over an hour ago.”

  “Fucked if I know.”

I look between the two of them in their matching suits and pray that BJ doesn’t miss this. Since everything that went down with his family, we haven’t really seen much of him, but I know he’d hate himself if he missed one of his best friend’s weddings.

“There he is,” Liam says, pointing to BJ, who’s running towards us and pulling his girlfriend along behind him.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to seeing him with the same woman more than once,” Dec says with a laugh.

  * * *

Thanks to my bloody pregnancy hormones, I cry throughout the entire ceremony. Liam spends the whole time he’s stood up next to Dec and BJ smiling at me. He finds my highly emotional state cute, whereas I just find it annoying. I’ve never cried this much in my life. I was even sobbing at the toilet roll advert on the TV the other day.

At only twenty-four weeks, I’m already sporting a perfectly round bump. I’m dreading how big it’s going to be by the time I’m full term.

Discovering I was pregnant was the last thing I expected. I was only a few weeks into my new job before I was spending the mornings puking in the staff toilets. As disappointed to as I was to know I was going to have to give up a job I finally loved for a while, I was even more excited to be growing a little Liam. We found out a few weeks ago that it’s a boy, and I can’t stop picturing what he might look like with his dad’s dark hair and even darker eyes. I feel a flutter in my belly and my eyes immediately find Liam’s. He’s desperate to feel him moving, but at the moment, that privilege is all mine.

“How are you holding up?” Liam whispers in my ear as the evening do kicks off. “Do you need to sit down?” His concern is sweet, although some days it can be a little stifling. But I know he’s only looking out for me.

  “I’m really good.”

  “And peanut? He’s okay?”

“Yes. Stop worrying.” Looking over to the makeshift dance floor, I see that Nicole and Dec have just finished their first dance. “Come dance with me.”

Liam’s eyes flash with desire before he grabs my hand and we join a few other couples swaying back and forth.

“That will be us soon,” he says, nodding over to Nicole and Dec where they’re stood talking to his parents.

“You know we’re already married, right?” I whisper so only he can hear it. Only two other people know that the day we found out we were expecting, we booked to tie the knot in the local registry office. Liam told me there was no way I was having our child while I had a different surname, and I couldn’t argue with that. So three weeks later, along with Nicole and Dec as our witnesses, we said our vows and embarked on our life as a married couple, albeit a secret one. We will have a proper wedding—our parents won’t allow us not to—but we’ll worry about that once peanut’s arrived.

“I know, but I can’t wait to unwrap you from your wedding dress.” His lips land on the sensitive skin on my neck and I sigh with contentment.

When I open my eyes, I find BJ looking back at me with a wide smile on his face as he dances with his girl. After returning his smile, I glance around at all the other loved-up couples surrounding us. It may have taken some of us longer than others, but in the end, we found our happily ever afters.

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve done it. Book #10, and the last in this series is done. Four years ago, I dreamt up Molly and Ryan’s story, and now, here I am, feeling more than a little emotional about everything it’s taken to get here. I never thought writing one book was in my future, let alone a ten book series. It’s crazy.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has followed me through this journey, from Molly and Ryan all the way to Olivia and Liam. I really could not have done it without your support, encouragement and excitement for what’s to come next.

I had every intention of Falling For Liam being the end of this world, but then something happened—or should I say, someone! Yep, BJ appeared and started telling me a story that I’m so excited about. So, although this is the end of the series, there may be a little spin-off happening in the future.

Once again, a HUGE thank you to Michelle, who was with me every step of the way with Falling For Liam. You told me to give you some angst. I hope I delivered.

My betas, Deanna, Helen, Lindsay, Susanne and Tracy, thank you so much for dropping everything to read Falling For Liam and give me feedback, as always.

Evelyn, for spending hours trying to polish up all my typos and bad grammar, THANK YOU!

And last, but never least, my husband and daughter for supporting me through this crazy journey. When I told him my desire to write a book and he said ‘go for it’, I don’t think he ever imagined it would turn into this!
