Patience allowed her sister to usher her out the door behind Kyle and William. Nancy wasn’t off the hook, not by a long shot.
Kyle chatted incessantly from the backseat, relieving Patience from having to make conversation with William. Not that she would mind getting to know him, but she was still a bit ticked off at him for stealing the game out from her fingertips. Yet, part of her felt better knowing he’d gotten it for Kyle, and her nephew wouldn’t be disappointed on Christmas morning. William would be his hero, but that was okay because she knew he’d be thrilled with the remote Black Hawk she’d gotten.
She could imagine the look on his face when he opened it. She smiled, picturing Christmas morning.
“Wanna share?”
“Huh?” She turned to William, who wore a huge smile.
“You’re smiling ear to ear. You want to share with us?”
“Sorry, I can’t.”
“Oh, not suitable for under eighteen?”
“No…I mean yes.” Crap. He thought she was daydreaming something sexual. “I was thinking about the holiday.”
“I’d like to see you under my tree this year.”
Patience quickly turned to the backseat to see if Kyle had heard him. Somewhere along the way, he’d put his iPod on, earbuds blocking out their conversation.
“Sorry, I knew he couldn’t hear me. I could picture you in a nice red bow and nothing more.”
“William.” She slapped his arm. He had to be careful. What if a song was changing and there was silence on the iPod? She didn’t need Kyle hearing them, though the idea of being naked under a tree appealed to her. Having sex on the floor with William could be interesting.
“Can I ask you a question?”
“It depends.” She wasn’t sure she could trust his questions.
“On?”
“If it’s appropriate.”
“I promise to keep it understated so little ears aren’t offended.”
That didn’t sound like a casual what do you do for a living? question.
“I’m not sure it’s a good idea.”
“No? Hmmm, I’m dying to know if you’re a toy person.”
“We’re not talking about jacks or paddle ball, are we?”
“Well, paddle ball maybe. Those paddles are fun. They pack a punch.”
She knew by the tone of his voice that he wasn’t thinking about using it for its intended purpose.
They pulled into the parking lot, ending their little banter.
“Cool. I can’t wait to show Auntie how good I swing the bat.”
“He’s a power hitter. Be prepared to be shocked.”
“I already am.” Shocked and intrigued. If William was asking about toys, he might be the fun she’d been searching for. Maybe, just maybe, she could experiment after all. Things were looking up, and it was all because Nancy had sent William in search for the same game.
Chapter Three
William did his best to hide the raging hard-on he’d been sporting for the last hour. No matter how much he thought about anything else, it didn’t help. He had it bad for the sexy Patience Middleton.
Since leaving her high and dry at the toy store the night before, he’d thought about nothing else. He wanted to stay and take her to breakfast, but after the stunt he’d pulled, he figured she’d be pissed. And she was. The fire in her stunning blue eyes caused his blood to flow. She was a spitfire; there was no denying it.
He knew she must be a feisty one in the sack, and he wanted to find out. He wasn’t kidding when he’d said he’d like to see her in only a red bow under his Christmas tree. What he didn’t tell her was she’d have her hands tied behind her back with a silk tie, and maybe her ankles would be bound too. He’d love to paddle that sexy ass of hers, turning it a sweet shade of red to match the bow.
Just thinking about the heat that would radiate off her cheeks caused his cock to twitch. He had to stop torturing himself. It wasn’t fair to Kyle for all his attention to be focused on screwing his aunt.
“Watch, William.”
William drew his attention from his aching cock to Kyle’s swing.
The ball flew out at ninety miles an hour, and Kyle swung. The loud thud of metal meeting with the baseball echoed. He’d nailed the ball, sending it flying across the cage.
“Yay!” Patience cheered, bouncing up and down clapping. “Your father is going to be so proud of you.”
“I told you. He’s got a killer swing.”
He wondered how much Patience knew about the game, though it didn’t matter. She’d agreed to join them for fun, and he didn’t mind springing for lunch. Spending time with Kyle was fun, but having Patience along for the ride was the cherry on his sundae. He’d like to taste her sundae.
“He certainly does. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m starved. When do we get to have lunch?”
“Women,” Kyle said.
Both William and Patience laughed.
“Hey there, buddy, this woman is your auntie, so show me some respect.”
“I love you, but I’m not done yet.”
“Okay, well, I’m going to go to the snack machine and get something to drink. Can I get you guys something?”
“Flavored water,” Kyle called.
“I’m good,” William said.
“I’ll be back soon.”
William’s gaze followed her as she left the batting cages in search of water. The way she swayed her hips caused him to groan.
“What, did I do something wrong?”
Shit, Kyle thought he’d been disappointed in his swing.
“Not at all, slugger. You’ve got this perfected. You’re going to be the MVP of your team this year.”
Kyle beamed, confirming that his job was worth every second. Nothing was more rewarding than seeing a smile on Kyle’s face…except maybe one on his auntie’s face too.
An hour later they piled into the car, headed for lunch. As much as he wanted to engage her in more conversation about whether she enjoyed toys, he couldn’t. Kyle wanted to control the conversation with talk of Christmas.
William let him and Patience talk. He wanted to find the right time to ask her out on a date. He could tell she was at least semi-attracted to him. He’d caught her looking at him on a few occasions while he swung the bat with Kyle. He’d pretended that he hadn’t noticed. He liked the idea of her checking him out.
His thoughts returned to ravishing her body. He wanted to wrap his fingers in her long brown hair and pull her head backward. Not painfully, but enough to stretch her neck muscles. He wanted to devour her in so many ways.
A horn blaring got his attention.
“What the hell just happened?” Patience snapped. “Are you trying to kill us?”
“I’m so sorry. I lost track for a moment. It won’t happen again.” He’d narrowly missed being sideswiped. He’d run a red light because he’d been focused on his desire to fuck Patience and not the safety of his passengers.
“You gave me a heart attack, William.”
He felt like a louse. He pulled over to the side of the road to collect his bearings.
“Are you both okay?”
“I’m fine. What happened?”
William couldn’t help but laugh. The resilience of children.
“Nothing,” Patience said. She didn’t laugh, but he noticed her face muscles had relaxed from the tense state they’d been in a few minutes earlier.
“Let’s go,” she said.
“Can I make it up to you by buying you dinner?” He grabbed her hand and held it between his.
“It’s the least you can do, but let’s start with the lunch you promised me first. If you can get us there and home safely, then I’ll be more inclined to agree.”
William released her hand and gripped the steering wheel. He concentrated on the road ahead. He couldn’t cause them harm. She had to agree to dinner.
* * * *
“I’ve got to be the luckiest guy in the world.” William spoke to his reflec
tion in the mirror while gelling his jet-black hair. He played around with his hair until he was completely satisfied with the results.
William couldn’t believe he managed to get Patience and Kyle safely to and from lunch. He’d been so distracted by her presence. Since seeing her pictures at Nancy’s house, William couldn’t get her out of his mind. He’d masturbated to her image almost nightly. He wanted to know what it felt like to have her beneath him. He longed to slide his cock in and out of her hot pussy. Now he was one step closer to making that dream a reality.
Patience had agreed to dinner with him, and he thought she appeared excited by the prospect. She’d smiled and had a skip in her step while walking to her car. William remembered secretly smiling too. He felt giddy inside, like a teenage boy getting the hot girl to go to prom.
He hoped she felt the attraction on the same level as he. He noticed a slight blush to her soft skin when he talked about toys. He wasn’t sure if it was because Kyle sat in the backseat of the car or because she was shy. Damn if he wasn’t ready to find out.
He threw on a pair of jeans and dress shirt. He slipped his feet into a pair of dark brown shoes. Perspiration beaded on his forehead. He wiped it on the hand towel and threw it in the hamper.
“Shit. I can’t show up sweating like a pig.” When did William LaBorde become nervous about a date? He’d dated his fair share of women over the years. He’d loved and he’d lost, but it hadn’t jaded him. Jitters weren’t his thing. Confidence was one of his big traits. He didn’t let the little things get to him, and he looked at life with a glass-half-full attitude.
Something about Patience scared him. It could be that she was the sister of his employer and the auntie to Kyle. Nancy had talked a lot about Patience over the past few weeks. She’d mentioned that she was single and had a hard time staying in relationships. Nancy didn’t believe that Patience was a difficult person; in fact she couldn’t understand why her sister was single. She did know that her last boyfriend had hurt her. Even though Nancy and Patience were best of friends, she couldn’t offer William a reason for her breakup or lack of boyfriend. Not that William had asked about Patience’s relationship status. Yes, he’d noticed her beauty in the pictures at Nancy’s house, but he never brought her up to his employer.
Nancy tried to talk up her sister to William every chance she found. She’d never admit it, but he felt she’d hoped William and Patience would hook up.
“Here goes nothing.” William grabbed his keys off the hook and headed out the door. He drove to Patience’s house, stopping off to pick up some flowers from the corner store. He hoped she liked daisies.
As he walked up the stairs to her house, she opened the door and stepped out. She took his breath away. She stood before him looking stunning in a formfitting pair of denim jeans and a teal shirt that enhanced the color of her eyes. She wore a small black leather jacket over her shirt.
Her smile lit up the night. His heart pounded, and for a moment he couldn’t find his voice.
“Are those for me?” She pointed to the flowers in his hand.
“Yes, sorry. You look so beautiful. You took my breath away.”
“Thank you.”
“Here.” He handed her the flowers.
“I’ll just run them into the house and put them into water. Be right back.”
She disappeared behind the door, leaving him standing on the porch, in the cold.
WHY HAD SHE left him high and dry like that? A reasonable person would’ve invited him in, offering shelter from the bitter temps. Not Patience. She slammed the door in his face while rushing into the house to find a vase and water.
She felt foolish because of her actions, but she wasn’t ready for him to come into her house. What if he wanted to jump right to the sex? On second thought maybe that wasn’t a bad idea. He’d talked about a paddle and toys. If William wanted to play, that would make her a happy woman.
She searched frantically in the linen closet until she found a vase hidden in the back of the top shelf. She hurried into the kitchen, poured water into the vessel, and arranged the flowers. Once done she placed them in the middle of the kitchen table and headed back to the front door.
William waited patiently, hands shoved in his pockets, while he whistled and bounced up and down.
“Sorry. I don’t know what came over me. Ready?” Although she was sorry she still wasn’t ready to share her house with him. She’d wait until after dinner to see where things went.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.” He offered his hand, and she accepted.
They walked down the stairs to his car, where he opened the door. A true gentleman. She smiled as she got situated in the seat.
“Thank you.”
He nodded and closed the door.
“Were you afraid I’d jump your bones if you allowed me in?” he asked as he started the car.
She laughed.
“Hardly.” A little, but she wasn’t going to admit that to him. As much as she wanted to have sex with him, she was afraid of how he’d view her if they dabbled with a few toys.
“I wouldn’t have. I would’ve tied you to the bed and tortured you endlessly. And when I was done, I’d toss you over my lap, spank you until your cheeks were a nice rosy red. Only then would I allow you the orgasm you’d be dying for.”
She swallowed.
Twice.
Just the thought had her panties moist. Temptation to touch his arm and beg him to turn around and park in front her house grew overwhelming. She loved his thoughts. Well, the spanking part she wasn’t sure about, but it would be fun to try.
“Why make me wait for an orgasm?” It seemed cruel. She blushed when she realized they were having a conversation about her orgasms. She’d never talked so intimately with her ex. Women weren’t supposed to want sex or be vocal about their needs. The man was supposed to be the dominant one in the bedroom. That bullshit was according to her ex. According to her, women should speak up so they made sure they were satisfied in the end too. Why shouldn’t she seek the same pleasure?
“The longer you wait, the more intense it will be when it finally happens.”
It might be fun, but it might be torturous. Shit, she didn’t care. She’d have fun figuring it out.
“How far away is this restaurant?” Suddenly she wanted to skip the meal and go straight for the dessert.
He laughed, and the sound gave her goose bumps. She loved his laugh. She found him sexy and smart and desirable. Why the hell had she not let him in her house? Stupidity.
“Why? Are you thinking about skipping dinner?”
She shrugged. “It’s always a possibility.”
“Sorry, darling. I want you to be fed before I wear you out. You’ll need the extra calories for when you orgasm over and over again.”
She shivered. The idea of climaxing multiple times had her itching to return home, strip out of her clothes, and throw herself at him.
“Are you sure we can’t head straight to dessert?”
He patted her hand. “As enticing as that sounds, I think you’ll appreciate me feeding you first.”
She wasn’t so sure she believed him, but she’d roll with it. She didn’t want him to think her a slut if she jumped into the sack with him right off the bat. How could he not, though, when they were discussing the sexual acts he planned to seduce her with?
Her ex was right. She was a slut. There were no two ways about it. Patience: version 2.0. One side soft and reserved, the other naughty and slutty.
The idea appealed to her on many levels. She could be naughty in the bedroom and reserved out in public. She didn’t have to follow society’s norm. If she wanted to be tied, spanked, and driven to distraction, so what? She was a grown woman who could make decisions on her own.
“What are you thinking?”
“How much fun we’re going to have later.”
“Who said anything about tonight? What if I want to wait until the second or third date to take advantage of you?”
> “I’d tell you to turn the car around and bring me home. You’re wasting your time and mine. My name may be patience, but I lack it…big-time.”
“So I’ve heard.”
“Oh, from who?”
William chuckled. “Who else?”
“Nancy.”
“Exactly.” William maneuvered the car into a parking lot of a restaurant she was unfamiliar with.
“Where are we?” Changing the subject was probably the smartest idea. She would likely get pissed off about her sister talking about her behind her back.
“We are at Uncle Reggie’s. The dining is casual, but the food is to die for.”
“I’ve never heard of the place.” How good could the food be at a place named after someone’s uncle? But, she’d learned a long time ago never to judge a book by its cover. What looked like a rat hole on the outside could be warm and inviting on the inside.
They entered the restaurant and were immediately seated. All the tables in the place were booths. They had the old-style red-checker vinyl tablecloths covering the tables. A mini jukebox hung from the wall. As she slid into the booth, she giggled like a teenager.
“I love jukeboxes.” She dug through her purse looking for change to play a few songs.
“Don’t bother looking for money. They’ll get you started.”
“Really?” How cool. Not only did they provide the music, they provided the money for you to play it. “This is just too cool.”
Patience pulled a plastic menu from underneath the jukebox and handed one to William. He readily accepted.
“Would you like to share a pizza, or do you want a meal?”
She glanced at the menu. It all sounded delicious. Her first instinct was to accept his invitation to share the pizza, until the veal parm caught her eye.
“I haven’t had homemade veal parm in a long time. As tempting as the pizza sounds, I’d really like to try the veal.”
“I can understand. It’s melt-in-your-mouth good. You won’t be disappointed.”
“What will you get?” Now she worried that she ruined his meal plans.
“I’ll still get a pizza.”
“That’s a mighty big appetite.”
