“I am.”
“Your huge heart is one of the reasons I always loved you.”
“You really do love me, don’t you?”
“I do. I know you don’t feel the same, and I don’t blame you. I broke your heart, and I have a lot of repairing to do, but I promise I will spend the rest of my life—”
Placing a finger against his lips, she said, “I love you, Aiden.”
“Say that again?”
“I love you.” This time she smiled and put all the emotion she had into what she had never spoken out loud before.
“I will never let you regret those words.” He framed her face and kissed her. “I kissed you here as a bridesmaid. One day I will kiss you here as my bride.”
Six months, later he did just that. With the fort as the background, in front of family and friends, Callie and Aiden promised to love, honor, and cherish each other finally ever after.
