We are always on guard against threats, but a creature would have to be mad to approach anything making this sort of clamor.
Ammos’ ears are laid back flat as he watches the siblings communicate, and Mace is shaking his head along with Ryan, and I am—despite the shrillness to their din—enjoying the liveliness in their exchange. Life had been too quiet before the humans arrived. Life had gone… dormant. The humans have changed everything.
They’ve given us a tribe again.
They’ve given us a place to belong.
They’re beginning to wind down enough that I can finally understand actual words in their echolocations. Preta half-sonars, “HERE? DAD IS HERE?”
This encourages even Ryan to join in, though his voice lacks the extreme pitch the siblings can manage.
A feeling akin to liquid sunshine curls around my heartstone as I listen to them converse, and theorize. Humans make life interesting.
I twine a vine up my azibo’s—my nitesh’s—torso, flowers blooming as I snuggly weave an excited Preta in a loving embrace. They make life worth living.
Let me tell you a mini-story!
When we joined the Valos project, Poppy Rhys asked if I’d be interested in our heroines being half-sisters. It meant we’d be writing pretty close together in order to keep the details cohesive.
I jumped on that so fast.
She created Charlie, I created Preta, we had a blast, and when we got to the end, we realized… we aren’t ready to say goodbye yet. We want ‘DaddySol’ to have a Happily Ever After, and we need him to rest easy knowing his daughters (and grandbabies!) are safe, and happy.
We miiiight be working on that. :D
LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Thanks for reading my book!!! *jumps up and down* I hope you had as much fun as I did. ♥
