A Dash of Peach Page 16

by Wendy Meadows

Mandy smiled. Momma Peach was brilliant, amazing, loving and brave – yet the poor woman could not manage to catch a single fly. “Momma Peach?”

“Not now!” Momma Peach yelled as sweat trickled down her face, “I’m on a mission! I’m searching for a clever, stinky little fly that has a date with this here newspaper in my hand. Oh yes, that fly is gonna read the headlines up close and personal!”

Mandy wanted to tell Momma Peach that the fly had meanwhile landed on her shoulder, but she didn't have the heart. Instead, she looked at Momma Peach with loving eyes and smiled. For the time being, everything was right with the world.

But the idyllic peace and comfort in Momma Peach’s bakery would not last forever. It would not be four hours later when Michelle would return to the bakery with a serious look on her beautiful face and urgent news for Georgia’s most famous baker and amateur detective.
