Bad Boy's Lust (Firemen in Love Book 1) Page 24

by Amy Starling

Brett and Max went back to the car. Carter came up to me next.

“So, how is it? Being a dad, I mean.”

I glanced at Elle. She sang a lullaby to Ethan while rocking him in her arms. He yawned, and his eyes fluttered closed.

“It's amazing. You were right. When I see the kid smiling, I just... I feel so full of love, you know?”

He nodded. “I know exactly what you mean. You, uh, thinking about giving him a little brother or sister?”

I laughed. “One step at a time. I'll wait until Elle's done nursing and the kid sleeps through the night before bringing that one up.”

Max yelled to Carter that they had to get going. He patted me on the back and headed back to the car.

“See you at work, man. Oh, wait. You still coming to Rachael's birthday party? She's turning eight and she'd love to see Ethan.”

  “Of course I'll be there.”

They drove off, and I went back into the house. I followed the sound of Elle's humming into the nursery.

Ethan was asleep and making cute snoring noises by the time she put him down in the crib. I watched her silently, afraid to ruin this perfect, beautiful moment.

“Sleep tight,” she whispered, kissing his fuzzy head. Then she turned around, bumped into me, and smiled.

  “You were spying on me.”

I shrugged. “How can I help myself? I got the world's most beautiful woman holding the world's most adorable baby.”

I took her in my arms and we shared a sweet kiss that turned hungry quickly. It felt just like the first time, and I hoped it never changed.

“Think we got a moment to ourselves?”

  “If we're quiet.”

I carried her into the bedroom; our clothes fell off in seconds. She was on top of me, kissing me, riding me until she'd driven me crazy with lust.

I pulled her close and entered her deep, filling her completely, just the way I knew she liked it. She let out a gasp as she lay her head on my chest.

I loved making her gasp. Loved giving her so much pleasure she could hardly stand it.

  “Thank you,” I whispered.

  “For?”

“You saved me, Pink. All those years, I needed you so bad. I was too blind to see it.”

Her fingers trailed up my chest. “Are you happy?”

“You're damn right I am. You?”

“You're asking me this when...” I thrust into her hard; she shuddered. “You're perfect for me, Jayce. I love...”

  “My cock?”

“You and your potty mouth will never change.”

“You love my mouth, too. I could tell by all the moaning last night.”

She kissed me and laughed. “I love everything about you.”

  “Hey, that was my line.”

I was perfect, she said. Me.

No, this was perfect. Our loving marriage. Our sweet baby. Our family. Friends.

This was the life we'd built together, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

  Anna

I'm so done with guys. I've been cheated on, lied to, and knocked up with a married man's baby. Men are nothing but bad news. Being alone suits me just fine.

Until Max comes back to Bastrop. It's been eleven years, and he's still cocky, arrogant, a total playboy... And absolutely gorgeous, too.

I turned him down over a decade ago. This time, I'll take whatever pleasure he offers, if only for a night. From a man like him, I can't expect more than that.

But when trouble comes to town for the both of us, that one night becomes so much more...

  Max

Anna Southwell is the only girl who's ever said no to me. She's sexy as hell but sweet as can be, nothing like my usual conquests.

  I need to have her.

But she's been hurt. She's pregnant and alone. If her crazy parents find out the truth, she'll lose her home, the farm, the life she's worked so hard to build.

I can't let that happen. I'll do anything to keep her safe.

Even let myself fall in love? Me, the guy who's terrified to commit?

  Yeah. She's worth it.
