me, I am just saying that I am in love with you and that I will make you fall in love with me eventually” Jim said confidently.

“We’ll see” Lilly said and blushed. Lilly was swept away by an enormous tide of an emotional kiss and it was over for John.

Next day John went to school determined to convince Lilly about disclosure of their relationship. On the other side Jim picked Lilly for school and parked his crimson BMW seven right next to the black Chevy. John saw Jim and Lilly with his arm around her shoulder in the corridor. Jim was smiling at him and Lilly tried to look away as if she didn’t even know John. That very sight broke John’s heart into a million pieces and he kept staring at them. His whole universe stopped, his face turned red, his nerves almost erupted and his eyes became wet. John immediately got in his car and drove to the lake where he took Lilly on their first date. He sat there all day listening to the gloomy heartbreak songs and drowned in melancholy.

  At night John called Lilly.

  “Hey John what’s up?”

  “What the hell was that?”

  “What was what?”

“Don’t pretend like you don’t know, just tell me what is going on?”

“Oh you mean about me and Jim. Well Jim likes me and I like him back so we got together”

  “You got what?”

“I am sorry John but he is funnier than you and less possessive than you. You should give some space to your girlfriend”

“You could’ve told me about this space issue, we could’ve worked it out but you cheated on me”

“No I didn’t. I am telling you all of it now, how is that cheating?”

“How could you do this to me? I loved you with all my heart and soul but you just gave it away”

“Oh come on, for Christ’s sake John. People hookup and breakup. what is the big deal? You’ll find someone nicer too”

“How could you be so heartless Lilly?”

“Ugh! Do not be such a drama queen, you are a person. We weren’t too compatible anyway. Ok John I gotta go, Bye!”

Lilly hung up the phone. John cried all night in his bed, not like a girl but like a heart broken person regardless of sex. John couldn’t find the strength to go to school next day and the next and the whole week. John spent the whole week in his room alone; he didn’t speak to anybody, didn’t meet his friends and didn’t even talk to his parents. His parents became worried about him; they thought that maybe John had encountered some kind of disease. His mother however found out about his breakup, she and his father tried to cheer him up and bring him back to life but John was devastated and shattered. John’s friends also tried to get him over it but all of the efforts ended in smoke. They however were successful in bringing John to school, but it was very difficult for John to bear the sight of Jim or Lilly or mostly both of them together. John went to school and came home every day, didn’t study, didn’t do homework and didn’t do any assignments. He just kept staring at the ceiling all the rest of the day and night. His grades dropped significantly and his class performance dropped to nil thus his whole life was hit by a giant Tsunami which flushed all of the joy out of his life.

Two months passed and John was still in the aftermath. One Sunday morning John was sitting in the yard staring at the grass. A family was moving into the house right next to John’s house. John heard a sweet voice, “Excuse me, do you live here?”

John looked up and a girl was standing across the yard smiling, the girl was a brunette and so pretty that it felt like she had just fallen from the sky. John was captivated by her beauty and an everlasting impression of her smile. Within a second John was brought back to the world by another beauty goddess. John got up and said, “Hi”

  “Hello, do you live here?”

“Yes I do, my name is John Norton”

“My name is Rosaria but you can call me Rose”

Wait a minute! Another flower? You’ve got to be kidding me.
