A knowing smile flashed across his face. “Are you nervous because of the job or because you’re attracted to me?”
“What?” Her hand jerked, and she knocked the menu off the table. James immediately reached out and snagged it. “Mr. King, I assure you that I am a professional.”
“Your pupils dilate when I’m around, and you catch your breath. I bet that if I got close enough, I would be able to feel your heart racing.” His fingers brushed over her wrist, and she immediately pulled her hand out of reach. “You’re either lying to me, or you want me.”
The tension between them thickened, and her body betrayed her as she responded to his words. Rubbing her legs together in an attempt to ignore the ache of desire, she straightened her spine. “My feelings to you are irrelevant. I’m here to work.”
“They’re not irrelevant to me.”
“I broke up with my boyfriend,” she said suddenly in a desperate attempt to change the subject. “I’d graduated from college, and I don’t have much in the way of family left. It seemed like a good chance to start over new, so I moved. I didn’t just apply to King Holdings, but I won’t lie and say that I wasn’t hoping to be hired here.”
The waiter stopped by and filled their water glasses. James ordered a bottle of wine that she’d never heard of before returning his attention back to her. “Why did you break up with your boyfriend?”
“That’s a personal question,” she whispered and started running her fingers along the glass of her water.
“You don’t have to answer it,” he pointed out.
“You’re the boss. The answer isn’t all that juicy. Phillip and I were never great together. It was harder to pretend that things were working out after graduation. Believe me, there were no hearts broken in the process.”
“It looks like you need to find something that stimulates you.”
Alexis cleared her throat and fingered the smooth tablecloth nervously. “You’re been here before, correct? What do you recommend?”
“I’m here for the steak, but my previous assistant enjoyed the stuffed chicken breast and the prosciutto tortellini.”
“The chicken sounds wonderful, thank you for the recommendation. Would you like to discuss tomorrow’s agenda?”
“Alexis, do I make you nervous?”
His voice was soft as though he could put her at ease, but she was all too aware of where conversations like this could lead. “Mr. King, I need this job. I have a staggeringly large student loan bill that I need to pay off, plus I had to buy a car to move, and my apartment is crappy but it’s not cheap. I don’t want to do anything here that could jeopardize my position at your company.”
James sipped his wine and watched her with an amused smile on his face. “I don’t know how it was like at your other jobs, Alexis, but I don’t intend to fire you for having a conversation with me.”
“It seems like it’s more than a conversation,” she whispered.
Shrugging, he picked up his menu. “You’re an intriguing woman. No one could fault me for wanting to get to know you better, however, I’m not here to make you feel at ease. If you want to keep your personal life to yourself, I won’t push you.”
The waiter returned to take their order, and trust to his word, he didn’t ask her any more personal questions, but that didn’t make her feel any less at ease. It only took a single word, a single look, and James King claimed her body. More than anything, she wanted to give him everything, but fear held her back.
She would be nothing more than a fling to be tossed aside, and her job wouldn’t be there when it was over.
Still, as he walked her back to their rooms, she felt his heated gaze on her. And when she slipped between her sheets, alone, she knew that he would dominate her dreams.
The two weeks passed like a blur. She kept his coffee cup filled, made his reservations, answered his phone and email, and took notes. She learned to anticipate his moods, and she knew that he continued to watch her, but there were no more personal questions.
As they finished up the last meeting, Alexis stood from the table and leaned over to retrieve his coffee when she felt someone’s hand brush along her ass.
“Hell of an assistant you have here, King. I don’t suppose that she’s available for the evening? I can think of a few jobs that I’d like her to perform tonight,” a slimy voice said. Daniel Harrison. He’d been trying to look down her blouse for two weeks.
“Touch her again, and the merger is off,” James said coldly.
“Possessive,” Harrison laughed. “It’s too late to call things off, King. Ink has dried on the contract. You can share her for one night.”
Alexis tried to step away, but when Harrison grabbed her arm, the whole room grew cold. Whipping her head around, she saw the steely look in her boss’s eyes. “My lawyers are very good,” he said icily.
Harrison immediately let her go, and she fought the urge to run to James’s side. For two weeks, she saw him as a wolf, but now that she was in the lion’s den, he seemed like her salvation.
“Alexis, I won’t be needing you at dinner. Take the evening off. Just make sure you’re ready to go at noon tomorrow.”
“My flight is eight,” she said softly.
“You’re not flying home commercial. You’re flying home with me. We have some things that we need to discuss.” There was no room for argument, so she nodded. All eyes were on her as she scurried out of the meeting room. Her mind was whirling. Would James King really kill a multi-million dollar merger just because Daniel Harrison grabbed her ass?
She just couldn’t figure him out.
While the sun was still up, so she enjoyed her last afternoon on the beach. When the sun set, she went back to the room feeling a little cold and alone. James’s words continued to echo in her head.
It looks like you need to find something that stimulates you.
What would happen if she gave into him? Spent one night in his arms? Enjoy a spark of passion and life?
Pressing her hand against the adjoining door, she rested her forehead on it. There was no sound on the other side. James probably wasn’t even there. Could she be bold enough to slip into his silk sheets and wait for him?
No. Feeling like a fool, she stepped back and shook her head. Soon they would be back in the office, and he’d never think of these two weeks again. She’d go back to working in her cubicle, just another person in the sea of people who worked for him.
Crawling into her own bed, she closed her eyes, touched herself, and imagined how just one moment in his arms would feel.
At noon, Alexis was ready and waiting with her bags packed. James opened his door and stepped out. “Good morning, Alexis. I trust you enjoyed your last night here. Things were awfully quiet in your room last night when I got in.”
“I went to bed early,” she admitted. “But I did enjoy a few hours on the beach. Thank you for that, Mr. King.”
“Youth is wasted on you, sweetheart. Come on. The limo is waiting.”
The driver loaded their bags. James entered the limo first, and as Alexis tried to sit on the seats to the side, he grabbed her arm until she sat next to him.
A small thrill went through her at the contact. “You’d like to tour the city, correct?”
“A tour of the city?” Alexis said eagerly. James raised an eyebrow, and she ducked her head and sat back.
“Yes, Carson. I’ll let you know when we’re ready to head to the airport. I appreciate you changing your schedule for me.”
“It’s our pleasure, Mr. King.”
The partition closed, giving them complete privacy. “A tour of the city. That’s exciting. I figured that you’ve been here so many times that you wouldn’t need one.”
“The tour isn’t for me,” he said as he pulled out his phone and started scrolling.
“Oh.” Unable to help herself, she smiled. “Mr. King, that’s very nice of you. If this is because of yesterday, I can assure you that I don’t blame you.”
“I
t’s not about yesterday, and this isn’t a tour of the city. As I said last night, I had something that I wanted to discuss with you.” He never took his eyes off the phone, and she bit her lower lip as she waited for him to continue.
“Mr. King?” she prompted.
“I’d like to offer you a permanent job as my assistant. Tanya told me that her husband got the promotion and would be moving, so I now have a sudden vacancy. I’ve been impressed with you these past couple of weeks, and I’d like for you to continue on.”
Working with James King every day? It wouldn’t be healthy for her new obsession, but it certainly would be great on her resume and for her wallet. “Thank you for the offer,” she said quietly. “I’d love the position.”
“Excellent.” He put the phone away. “Now that we’ve gotten some business out of the way, there is something else that I’d like to discuss with you. I believe at the beginning of the week, I gave you much to think about. Has these past couple of weeks changed your opinion?”
“My opinion about what?”
A sexy smile spread across his face. “You’re attracted to me.”
“Is that a question or a statement?”
“I’m asking if you’re more comfortable with me.”
“What exactly do you want from me?”
“I think you know.” The air thickened around them, and she struggled to catch her breath.
James slid his fingers over her bare arms. “You told me to find something that stimulates me. You stimulate me.”
“I’m not your normal type,” she whispered.
“My normal type isn’t working for me. I want someone who’s passionate and curious.” His lips skimmed over the skin of her shoulders, and she trembled.
“You’re my boss.” The argument should have been solid, but it sounded so weak coming from her.
“Does that turn you on?”
He lifted her chin, and as she stared into his eyes, she knew that she couldn’t lie to him. “God, yes.”
“This is your last chance, Alexis. When we get out of this limo, I won’t ask you again.”
“You haven’t asked me anything yet.”
“You know what I want. I’ve wanted it the moment that I laid eyes on you.”
Unable to help herself, she reached up and began to undo the buttons of her blouse. “Eager to please?” she whispered.
“You’ll do what I say,” he said roughly. “When I say it. No questions. I can make you scream with pleasure, Alexis, but only if you do exactly as I say.”
Anticipation and fear warred inside her. She had no doubt that he could take her to new heights, but he could also push her too far and hurt her. But God, she didn’t even give a fuck. She just needed him to touch her. Wordlessly, she nodded. Shedding her shirt, she reached back to undo her bra, but he shook his head. “Kneel in front of me,” he whispered. “Face the front.”
She did as he asked, and he chuckled. “Look at that. Naturally spreading your legs for me.” Sliding her skirt up, he spread his hands over her cheeks and lightly stroked the thin fabric of her thong. Pleasure shot through her, and she whimpered and pushed back against him.
She needed more.
“Easy, my pet,” he said soothingly. “The driver will continue to drive through the city until I tell him we’re ready. We’ve got all the time in the world, and I plan on enjoying every inch of you. When was your last orgasm?”
“Last night,” she whispered.
“Really? You touched yourself last night. I wish I could have seen that. What were you thinking about?”
“You,” she admitted.
“Details, my pet. I want details.”
He stopped stroking her, and she wiggled her hips in frustration, but it was clear that he wasn’t going to continue until he got what he wanted. “I was thinking about last night when we were alone in the conference room. I wanted you to spread me across the table…”
“And what?”
God, she couldn’t talk like this, could she? “Lick me up and down,” she whispered.
“Good girl.” He moved the fabric of her thong aside and slid a finger inside across the moisture gathering from her pussy. “No more panties, Alexis. I want to be able to touch you, taste you, and fuck you whenever I want without hindrance.”
Just imagining him fucking her in his office was almost enough to make her come right there. “No panties,” she moaned. “I swear.”
“Turn around, Alexis. Take off your bra.”
She did as he asked, and her nipples puckered as the cool air touched them. As he reached out and cupped one of her heavy breasts, his eyes never left hers. “Creamy skin,” he murmured. “Rosy nipples. Perfect.”
He gently pinched her, and she gasped. Her breasts had always been sensitive, and desire had her tied up in knots. She didn’t want foreplay. She didn’t want seduction. She wanted him to fuck her. Hard and rough.
“Mr. King. Can I touch you?”
“Ah, fuck. I love it when you call me that. Do you have any idea how hard I am right now? Touch me. Find out.”
Eager, she unzipped him and fished him out. Hard and smooth. Squeezing him, she moved her hand up and down and licked her lips in anticipation. When he didn’t stop her, she leaned over and darted her tongue out to run up and down his full length. Hips jerking, James hissed through his teeth and jerked her up until she straddled him.
Before she knew it, her hands were bound behind her back with the silk of his tie. “James,” she protested.
“Mr. King,” he reminded her. “And if I want you tied up, I’m going to have you tied up. Don’t question me again..”
Even though she was on top, there was no question who had the control. He moved her hips slowly over his cock, coating it with her juices but not impaling her. Even as she wiggled impatiently, there was nothing she could do. She was completely at his mercy.
Her whole body screamed for release. Tension coiled inside her and threatened to tear her apart. “Mr. King, please. Please fuck me. I need you.”
“Yes, you do. And you will remember that whenever you think of me.” He surged inside her, rough and quick, and they both gasped at the invasion. It had been so long that it hurt, but the pain was delicious.
“Fuck, Alexis,” he groaned. ‘God, you’re tight.” He forced her hips up and down, fast and without mercy. The first orgasm hit her hard and fast, but James never even missed a beat. With one hand, he forced her to ride him, and with his other, he pressed his thumb against her clit until her desperate need started to build again.
“Mr. King.” Her head fell back as she panted. “Wait. God, I need—“ She didn’t even know what she needed except that she didn’t want him to stop. Even as sweat covered her skin and her body started to ache, she continued to need him inside her.
Obsession. Addiction. She was never going to get enough.
“One more,” James hissed. “Give me one more, baby. I want to see your face. I love it. I want to hear you scream.”
It wasn’t even a choice as she exploded around him. Her name was on his lips as he surged inside her, but she barely registered it. All she knew was that when she caught her breath, she was leaning against his chest and listening to his rapid heartbeat.
“Are you okay?” he whispered as he freed her hands. “Alexis?”
“I think I’m okay.” Rolling her shoulders, she pushed herself up and stared at him. There was some uncertainty on his face as though he didn’t believe her. “I’m tougher than I look.”
James reached up and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re dangerous. Now that I’ve had you, I’m not sure that I can stop. And this was easy, Alexis. In my bed, in my office, I’ve got so many different ideas for how I want to take you.”
She hurt and she was exhausted, but she couldn’t help but rub ever so gently against him. “However you want me,” she said as she rose over him. “Mr. King.”
His lips moved over her nipples, and her eyes drifted shut.

The Boy Next Door
A Billionaire Erotic Short
By Amber Heart
Blurb: He used to be the older boy next-door, but Mason Grant grew up, and now he’s more than just the kid I lusted after. Now he’s bought out the company that I work for. He’s my billionaire boss, and he nothing like the boy that I remember. Strict. Wound up tight. I’m determined to teach him to enjoy life a little more, and I’ll have to do it before he fires us all.
“Ms. Taylor,” Mason bellowed from his desk. “Get your ass in my office right now!”
I couldn’t help but smirk as I slowly stood from my desk. I already knew what Mason was pissed about, and it served him right. I’d been the secretary for Phillip Incorporated for two years, but Mason Grant bought the company three months ago. Since then, he had everyone terrified that they might lose their jobs, and he wasn’t doing anything to make things easier.
At the top of his list of sins was his continued desire to call me Ms. Taylor. Considering that there was a time when he called me Danny Boy, I found his proper manner infuriating. He was just as surprised as I was during that meeting that announced the hostile takeover, but he’d done nothing to insinuate that he remembered me.
Or maybe he just didn’t want other people to know that I remembered the gorgeous billionaire as a scrawny teenager who used to sneak his girlfriends down to the river and pretend they were the first to see his secret spot.
Enough was enough. Smoothing my hand down my skirt, I sashayed into his office. “You called for me, Mr. Grant?” I asked innocently.
His gorgeous green eyes narrowed as they glared at me. “Can you please explain why Rollings Women’s Prison is thanking me for my interest in speaking at their next event?”
“Mr. Grant!” I simpered as I put my hand on my chest. “ I had no idea you were so involved with the community. I’m sure you’ve got great advice for those women when they’re paroled. Are you going to start a program hiring ex-convicts? I know that will be a big help.”
