At least, not as far as Meredith knew.
Now, as he worked her body over, she closed her eyes and just let herself feel.
She let herself feel all of the things she’d been desperately craving for so very long: warmth, adoration, desire. She’d let herself live vicariously through her books, but the real deal was so much better.
How had she managed to survive without him?
“Daniel,” she whispered. “Please, I want you.”
She meant his cock.
She wanted his cock buried deep inside of her pussy. She had come so many times, and she felt so damn good. She wanted him to feel good, too. She wanted to feel him thrusting inside of her. She wanted him to come for her the way she’d come for him.
“First things first,” he smiled. He produced a set of cuffs and put them on her wrists, essentially locking her to herself.
“Are you going to tie me to the bed?” She asked.
“Not this first time,” he smiled. “I don’t want to scare you too much,” he laughed.
“Then what are you going to do to me?”
“I want your hands right here,” he tapped them.
“I can’t touch you now.”
“That’s okay, princess,” he said. “Because I’m going to touch you enough for both of us.”
He leaned down and captured one of her breasts in his mouth. He licked, sucking, and she arched her back up towards him. She pushed her breast deeper into his mouth and he chuckled against her skin as he teased her.
“I see you like that,” he murmured.
“Oh yes,” she whispered. She’d always liked having her breasts played with, but this was something else entirely. This was incredible. This was magical.
She closed her eyes as he teased her body, taunting her. She was even more wet. How was that possible? She felt like her body was soaked. Even her thighs were slick, and they weren’t even done yet.
“Close your eyes.”
She squeezed her eyes shut and she heard him open the nightstand drawer to pull out a condom. She heard the package rip, and a second later, he kissed her mouth.
“Are you ready for me, princess?”
“I’m so ready.”
He nudged at her entrance and then slid in, filling her. Her hands were in front of her, and she opened her eyes as his cock entered her. He was watching her carefully, sweetly, with adoration, and oh, she fucking loved the way he was looking at her.
Daniel looked at Meredith like she was the best thing that had ever happened to him, and that made her feel even better than she already felt, which seemed physically impossible.
“How’s that feel, princess?”
He slid in and out of her, and she nodded.
“Good.”
It was the only word she could manage to find that made sense. He slid in and out of her body, filling her over and over again, and soon she felt that sweet heat inside of her begin to build again. He could sense it, too, and he smiled at her.
“Come for me, princess,” he told her. “Come for me again.”
“I can’t,” she shook her head. She couldn’t come like this. Not during sex, but he didn’t seem to take no for an answer on this point. Instead, he slipped his fingers between their bodies and stroked her clit over and over as he plunged deeper and deeper inside of her.
And then it hit her, and she came, and she cried out as she did.
He silenced her mouth, kissing her. He nipped at her lip as she groaned through her release, and then he came, too. He came, whispering her name, and Meredith had never felt quite so damn good as she did in that moment.
She closed her eyes again, holding still as he got up to throw away the condom and then to remove her wrist cuffs. He climbed beside her on the bed and pulled her into his arms, and then he started to whisper to her.
“That was fucking incredible,” he said.
“I liked it, too,” she told him.
“You’re beautiful, Meredith.”
“You, too.”
“I’m beautiful?” He chuckled.
“You know what I mean.”
She had a lot of different feelings rushing through her mind, but mostly, Meredith was tired. Her body was aching in the most delicious ways, and she just knew she was going to be sore the next day. It would be impossible not to be after all of their lovemaking.
“What happens now?” She asked.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean,” she bit her lip and thought about shaking it off. She should just tell him she wanted to know if they were going to have a snack or something.
The problem was that Daniel was perceptive, and he would know if she was lying.
Hell, her bottom was still stinging from the last spanking he’d given her, and her transgressions hadn’t even been that bad. She wanted him to spank her again, but not for lying. He didn’t like being lied to, even about things that she thought were very small and seemingly unimportant.
No, if there was one thing Meredith had learned during this time, it was that bravery was everything, and that courage would be rewarded.
“Between us,” she said.
At that, he got up on his elbow and looked at her closely.
“Meredith, are you asking me on a date?” He asked, smiling.
“Maybe.”
“Are you saying that you want to be with me after this is all over?”
Bravery.
She had to show bravery.
Was that what she wanted?
Oh, yes, it totally was.
But did he want the same thing?
She’d never know if she didn’t ask, so Meredith sucked up all of her inner-strength and nodded.
“Yes,” she said. “Yes.”
Chapter Ten
She said yes.
She wanted him.
She wanted them.
That thought made Daniel so much happier than it should have. Okay, so they were locked up together. They had essentially been forced into a situation where they had to confront their feelings, and now they were.
And she wanted him.
He kissed her again, over and over, and then he pulled her into his arms. Meredith was tired, and she fell asleep before he could even ask her more about her feelings. She passed out and was quietly snoring right in his arms, and she left him alone, awake, to think about everything that had happened.
He was a Dom, so he was supposed to be in control. He was supposed to be in charge. He was supposed to be the person who had answers, and who understood what was going on. He was supposed to guide her, but what Meredith didn’t know was that sometimes, even Dominants felt scared or lonely or nervous.
And when it came to her, there were no rules.
There were no boundaries.
This was uncharted territory for him. After his wife died, he hadn’t thought about dating. He hadn’t wanted to. Now, the idea of getting to not just top Meredith, but date her, had his heart soaring.
Snuggling her closer, he closed his eyes and tried to sleep, but even when he passed out, all he saw was her.
It was always her.
*
The next morning, Meredith rolled over and reached for him.
“Good morning,” she whispered.
They had spent the entire night together in his bed. He’d woken up twice in the night to fuck her. Once he’d tied her to the headboard. The other time, she’d ridden him like a damn cowgirl. Fuck. As far as he knew, she’d never so much as ridden a horse before, but he never would have been able to tell. Not by that performance.
“And a good morning to you,” he whispered, rolling over to look at her.
Even now, with the sunlight streaming into the room, with her hair a mess, and with her makeup from the night before totally smeared, she looked perfect.
“So, last night was fun,” she whispered, nervously biting your lip.
He kissed her.
“Too much fun,” he agreed.
“Did you like it?”
>
“Very much.”
“Was it everything you hoped for?”
“And more.”
“What happens now?” She asked. She sounded nervous, and he knew it had taken all of her inner-strength to ask him what was going to happen between them. Putting yourself out there was never easy. People had this idea that if you were friends first before you got into a relationship, that you’d somehow have all of the answers, and that the transition to “more than friends” would be easy.
It wasn’t.
It was still hard, just in a different way.
They had effectively ruined their friendship, and honestly, they had probably ruined their employee/employer relationship, but Daniel didn’t care. She was worth it. She was worth all of it.
“Anything you like,” he said, because he was starting to realize that she really was the girl of his dreams. She was the one he’d been waiting for, and when it came to Meredith, he’d give her absolutely anything she wanted.
Anything she needed.
Anything.
“Breakfast?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
“How do chocolate chip pancakes sound?” He asked.
“Oooh,” she grinned. “My favorite.”
“Lucky for you, they’re my specialty,” he grinned.
“Daniel, in all of the years I’ve been living with you and Alice, you’ve never once made chocolate chip pancakes,” she said pointedly.
He only laughed.
“There’s a first time for everything, right?”
She laughed and took his hand.
“Right.”
He pulled her out of bed and together then went into his en-suite bathroom and showered. He dressed and she wrapped herself in a towel before scurrying off to her bedroom to get dressed herself. He swatted her on the bottom as she hurried off, and he looked down the hallway with a smile.
This was it, he realized.
He was finally getting his happily-ever-after, and Daniel realized that he really was the luckiest man in the world.
Epilogue
The quarantine ended, and Alice returned to school.
Then, before they knew what had happened, six months passed, and life returned to normal.
Well, a new sort of normal.
Meredith knew that things would never return to the way they were in the before-time. Before the virus came, and before everyone got sick, things were simpler. They were more wonderful. They were calm.
Now the world was more tumultuous. Things weren’t guaranteed anymore. Even basic things, like cold medicine and toilet paper, were harder to come by. These things were quickly gathered up by hoarders when they were stocked or hidden away by preppers who wanted them for their families. People were less trusting after the virus came.
People were more wild and untamed.
Everyone was scared that it would happen again, but even if it did, the world had changed around them. No longer were citizens afraid to wear masks or call out of work when they became ill. More and more companies were willing to let employees work from home.
But one thing had changed for the better.
They had found each other.
Meredith looked over at Daniel each morning and grinned. She couldn’t help herself. They had been so close to each other for so long, but they’d been so far away. Somehow, in what seemed like the blink of an eye, they’d finally found a way to reach each other. They’d finally found a way to connect with one another in a meaningful way and they’d somehow, against the odds, fallen in love during a quarantine.
“Good morning,” she whispered to him, kissing his cheek softly.
“Hello, princess.”
He grabbed her neck and pulled her lips to his. He tugged on her hair as they kissed, eliciting a soft moan from her lips. Oh, she loved it when he was wild like this. She loved it when he touched her, played with her. She loved the way he was so confident and the way he could touch her like nothing else mattered.
Because it didn’t.
In her eyes, when they were together, the rest of the world just faded away, and Meredith had never been quite so happy as she was with Daniel.
A knock at the door sounded and she pulled away, laughing.
“Time to start the day,” she whispered, kissing Daniel’s nose.
“Are you guys awake?” Alice’s voice called from the hallway. “I’m hungry. Let’s make pancakes!”
“Coming,” Meredith called, pulling on clothing. She smiled at Daniel as she tugged him out of bed, too. “Let’s go,” she whispered. “And let’s have a wonderful day together.”
And you know what?
They did.

Melanie Blake didn’t want to go to her doctor’s appointment. She sat in the parking lot and looked at the clinic. It looked…cold: cold and unwelcoming. She didn’t want to go, didn’t want to step inside those doors. It held nothing for her. There was nothing good in there: nothing at all.
Only, she knew that she had to pluck up the courage it would take to walk through those doors. She needed to visit the doctor. She needed to go inside and she needed to talk to someone and there was nothing else that could be done about it.
It was all her fault, really.
That’s why she was there.
She had made a bad choice, slept with a bad person, and now she had to face the consequences of those actions.
And oh, were those actions so not worth it.
Sleeping with one person might have been enough on its own, but she’d slept with several, and she hadn’t been very careful or safe or sane about it. Consensual? Yeah, it had all been consensual, and it had been fun, but it hadn’t sated her desires. It hadn’t given her what she really needed.
And now she was here.
She was at the doctor’s office and soon she was going to go inside and face the consequences of what she’d done. She was going to be brave and bold and she was going to be fierce. Slay. That’s what she was going to do: fucking slay.
She’d hesitated long enough, though, and finally, Melanie decided to get out of the car. She slammed the door shut harder than she should have. For a second, she thought about apologizing to her little Saturn, but she thought twice. She was already being punished by coming to this appointment. She didn’t need to traumatize herself further by saying she was sorry to a hunk of metal.
She went into the doctor’s office and walked up to the receptionist’s desk. Melanie tried to breathe normally. She could do this. She could be normal. Only, part of her thought that she couldn’t. She had never really fit in and she certainly didn’t fit in now. Not here in the doctor’s office.
The clinic was full, which was probably to be expected for a Monday afternoon. People were here with their kids and their grandmothers. Everyone needed to get a checkup today, apparently, but she was the only one here for the kind of check that she needed, and that made Melanie feel embarrassed.
“Can I help you?” The receptionist asked. She had dark black hair and it was pinned up in a neat bun. It was a little intimidating, but Melanie tried to remind herself that the woman wasn’t here to judge her. The lady wasn’t interested in that. She was just doing her job.
“Hi,” Melanie said. “I have an appointment with Dr. Grey.”
“What time is your appointment?”
“Two-thirty.”
“Name?”
“Melanie Blake.”
“Okay, Melanie. Is your insurance information the same?”
>
“Yes.”
“Have a seat,” the receptionist motioned to the office. “And we’ll call you back as soon as we can.”
“Thanks,” Melanie said, remembering her manners. She headed over to one of the chairs and sat down next to a lady who was bouncing a little baby on her knee. The kid had a carefree life, Melanie thought. Seriously. That kid didn’t have a thing in the world to worry about, did he? He could do anything, be anyone. He could do whatever. All he had to worry about was his mom, and she would take care of him.
Sometimes Melanie wished her life could be more like that.
It wasn’t, though.
Instead, her life was a series of bad choices that had severe consequences. Namely, they wasted her time. She shouldn’t have partied last week. She shouldn’t have done anything she’d done because now, not only was she sitting at the doctor’s office, but she was also without a job. Who knew how long she’d be unemployed? Finding a new job wasn’t always easy. It could be weeks or even a month before she had a new place to work.
Shit.
She might have to move back in with her mother.
Just then, she heard her name.
“Melanie,” a friendly nurse called from the doorway. Melanie tried not to pay attention to the people staring as she made her way over. She had essentially skipped the line, but she wasn’t sure why. Once they were in the back hallway, she looked at the nurse.
“Shouldn’t those other people be first?” She asked.
The nurse shook her head. “They’re seeing Dr. Shelly today. Besides,” the nurse said, tapping the chart. “Dr. Grey thinks you need to be seen urgently.”
