  Daniel Hahn is a writer, editor and translator with some thirty books to his name. His work has won him the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize and the Blue Peter Book Award. He is currently national programme director of the British Centre for Literary Translation and is the consultant translator for this edition of Granta.

  Amanda Hopkinson is Visiting Professor of Literary Translation at City University London and at Manchester University. She is currently writing A History of Mexican Photography and is translating Elena Poniatowska’s Leonora.

  Anna Kushner translates from Spanish, French and Portuguese. She is the translator of the novels The Halfway House by Guillermo Rosales, The Autobiography of Fidel Castro by Norberto Fuentes and Jerusalem by Gonçalo M. Tavares.

  Clifford E. Landers has translated novels and short stories by Rubem Fonseca, Jorge Amado and João Ubaldo Ribeiro. A professor emeritus at New Jersey City University, he now lives in Naples, Florida.

  Johnny Lorenz is an associate professor at Montclair State University. In 2012, he published a new translation of Clarice Lispector’s posthumous novel, A Breath of Life.

  Ina Rilke was born in Mozambique and grew up in Portugal speaking Dutch, English and Portuguese. She has translated works by writers including Erwin Mortier, Hella Haasse and Judith Vanistendael. She lives in Amsterdam and Paris.

  Jethro Soutar is a translator of Spanish and Portuguese. He is also the author of two non-fiction books: Ronaldinho: Football’s Flamboyant Maestro and Gael García Bernal and the Latin American New Wave.

  Stefan Tobler is a translator of Portuguese and German and the founder of And Other Stories publishing house. Tobler has published translations by writers including Antônio Moura, Clarice Lispector and Rodrigo de Souza Leão.
