  "I happen to like green."

"I'm certainly glad to hear that," Elsie's smile softened. "As the future Consort of Delgora, you'll have noticed that our country is full of greenery."

His heart stuttered for a moment, but he managed to regain his composure. "Now wait just one moment, My Lady Delgora. I just got my freedom back, what makes you think I'd want to spend the rest of my life here?"

"Well you certainly don't have to. I did qualify that statement with the word 'future' in it. I cannot in good conscious marry you right now anyway."

Baffled and a little alarmed, Dorian blinked down at her, "And why not?"

The smile she gave him was nothing short of impish. Smoothly, with only the lightest ruffle of her skirts, Elsie lifted herself to her tiptoes and brought her mouth close to his. Dorian caught his breath in his chest and waited, poised and ready for a kiss that was late in coming.

"Because you would have to cut your hair first."

  The End.
