“We told you how that would be. They are good at that. They have been doing it for years. Okay, let’s make sure we all take our pills and remember, Hollis, you have two to take. One to mask the blood and one to help counteract the drug we will be giving them again. I have the drugs to put on the chicken again for Max to give to the wereboons,” Trevor says.
We finish eating breakfast and then we load up with some knives again.
“We need to do a couple things first. We need to take some weapons and put them in the caves so that we can get them when Hollis transports us through. We also need to go the library and make sure the safe room is all set for Cody and Hollis to hide in. Mom is telling everyone to go into their safe rooms in their houses tonight. Luckily we built safe rooms in all the houses, so even if the vampires and the wereboons get into our houses they will not be able to get into the safe rooms which are built under our houses and can even open out into the tunnels which would get them into the caves. Each safe room is loaded with weapons also. We have always been prepared for the worst,” Stella says.
I look around; I have never seen a safe room in this house. It must be well hidden. We then grab some boxes that have weapons in them and we carry them into the caves via the safe room that I don’t know about and then we take the tunnels out into the caves. Wow, that must be how they rescued me through those tunnels.
“Okay, let’s put the weapons close to the wall. On the other side is Cody. Let’s talk low, so they will not be able to hear us. Now let’s head to the library,” Stella says.
“So what are you going to do again with me after we get Cody freed?” I ask.
“You will be hiding out with Cody along with Max in the library safe room. Remember we can’t put you here because they will come here first. Our entire village knows to hide. Mom is letting them know today that something is coming down that they all need to hide no matter what. Life or death, she is telling them. Depending on timing we might hide with you guys in the library safe room. We just need to make it through the night. Then everything will be back to normal for another month and a few months for the next double red moon,” Stella replies.
“I think you guys need to be with us at the library where we can protect each other,” I say.
“Okay so we will need a path to take that’s going to be the fastest path to take to get to the library from the caves. My suggestion would be to run through the tunnels until we get to the library tunnels and then into the safe room,” Trevor says.
“My suggestion would be to take the tunnels to as close to the library as you can get, and then out of the tunnels into the streets of the village and through the library front door: this way when, and if, the wereboons have been chasing us, or the vampires, then they wouldn’t know which tunnels are to the library,” I say.
“Very good idea. Okay, let’s get through the caves to see where the closest is to the library,” Stella says. We then walk a way through the tunnels and then Stella stops us.
“This would be the route we need to take,” Stella says. We then go outside. It is only across the street from the tunnel entrance. We walk out and look around. The streets are still empty from the night before. You can see that the community center is packed, though, with everyone from the village. We then go up the library stairs and into the library.
“So is the room hidden away in one of those side rooms?” I ask.
“You would think that, but that is not the case. The entrance is right here in the middle of the room under the check-in desk. It was built that way to throw everyone off if we ever needed it. So I see it worked, because you thought it would be in one of the rooms and that’s what we wanted everyone to think. You have to know the code to punch in the lock. Not everyone has the code, just a few of us. Again we did not want the vampires, if anyone gets caught being able to give out our codes. This room is pretty big. Let me punch in the code and show you,” Stella says.
Trevor punches the code in that is in the inside of the desk and then two doors open. It has stairs walking down to the underground and when we walk in and it lights up and there is a small kitchen area and beds set up in the room; there is a room with a bathroom inside it. It is a pretty big space.
“This is a lot like all of our safe rooms with this one being the largest. Now, if the vampires or wereboons were ever able to get inside, then we have another code to get out into the tunnels and it is behind the picture over there. So this is where we might all be staying the night in, but for sure you and Cody will be hanging in here,” Trevor says.
“I think we should now get over to the Wasioux village and start working on Danny again and then get Cody,” Anita Kay says.
“I agree: it’s the day we finally get Cody rescued. We have trained and planned for this for a while now,” Stella says.
“Just a reminder for us and something new to you, Hollis: remember after the full moon night and the vampires have had all that blood, they are pretty charged up with lots of excitement and especially on the day of the double red moons. They are going to be really excited,” Trevor says. They all shake their heads and I am thinking more than they already are, that’s not good. I will have to be even more on my game; heck, we are all going to have to be more on our game. We then walk up and out of the safe room through the library and then to the Wasioux village.
“Are they not going to wonder why we are coming back the next day again to their village?” I ask.
“No, they invited us and now that Danny is more charged up he is going to be very happy to see Anita Kay.”
We go to the village and there is Kris waiting at the door. I thought he was going to say something about last evening, but I remember what Stella and they said: they don’t remember things from when they are a vampire.
“Hey, Hollis, how are you? How was your evening? Mine was great, I got lots of rest and I am excited for the games today. I think you can take Danny today in the vampire game. You were close yesterday: no one has even killed one vampire in that game when they play him. You, on the other hand, killed three against him. He already said he is looking forward to beating you today. Come on in,” Kris says.
“I am good, Kris. I am a little tired: didn’t get much sleep last night. Just tossing and turning, no big deal, though. I will be ready to beat Danny today,” I say.
Danny walks in the door and says, “We will see about that, Hollis. You got lucky yesterday. Hey, let’s go on over to my game room. I like to start out with a few games of cards again. Those are always a great warm-up. Anita Kay, you are looking very nice today as usual,” Danny says.
“Thank you, Danny, you are always so nice to me,” Anita Kay replies and then she goes over and grabs his hand. We then walk to Danny’s game room. When I look around there isn’t anyone working the farm area today. Everyone is happy and looks to be dancing around like it is a celebration day. Sandy joins us on our quick walk. We go into Danny’s game room.
“Hey, if the girls want to play poker today with us, they can. Anita, if you want to sit by me and help me, you can also,” Danny says.
Anita Kay nods and sits by him. We sit at the table and Stella stands behind me. Sandy sits next to Trevor and she decides to play. We play several games, I think because Danny is enjoying Anita Kay playing with him. He wins a couple of games, but Trevor wins several hands and I only win a few games. It has now become lunchtime.
Danny says, “You ladies don’t have to worry about getting the lunch: I am having sandwiches brought to us.” Next thing you know the door opens and here comes a couple of female Wasioux with sandwiches and drinks for us. Today there were a few more Wasioux in the room just sitting around. Just seems like Danny beefed up his protection. Not sure if this is just a double red moon thing, or if he is expecting something. Good thing we have enough drugs for everyone.
We finish eating and Danny wants to play a few more hands of cards. We then play a couple more hours. “Okay, Hollis, you ready to play video games again?” Danny asks.
> “Of course I am ready to play video games, it reminds me of home,” I reply. We then walk over and sit on the couch. Danny starts the game and again it is us playing the game to kill the vampires. I am once again the cowboy and he is again the Indian. Same setting in the bar with the cancan girls, but this time I jump up and start killing vampires before he can even get going. I stake three, one right after the other, and he has zero. He looks at me in surprise and with like appreciation, because I am challenging him. I slit the throat of one of them and then staked it and he finally kills two. I then kill another one and reach the limit of 5 and the game is over, but before it is over he has killed two more. This time, I beat him five to three. The guys in the room are like wow.
He says, “Okay, before we play our next game I think we should have a little smoke and celebrate Hollis’s victory that game.”
We are now tied with each other. I love it, I love the competition.
“Hey, Sandy, will you go get the pipe?” Sandy knots her brow and goes to the room in the back. Stella has already given her the drugs: she handed them to her first thing when she saw her this morning. We saw her secretly hand them to her. Again the wereboons are not in the room: they have to be in the caves. Sandy then returns to the room: everyone has been talking to each other. Danny at one time had Anita Kay sitting on his lap. When Sandy comes back she moves off of him and moves to a chair close by him. Damn, she is good. Sandy lights the pipe and we all pass it around a couple of times. Just like before, everyone except us goes into la-la land. Again they look paralyzed. We grab the chicken and open the door and go into the caves. Max quickly transforms into a wereboon and gets the chicken that is drugged to the wereboons in the cave. We get to the room where Cody is and get ourselves prepared again. Max goes in first, but we can hear her fighting. We then enter and this time there are two Wasioux in the room and two more wereboons. I should have known that when I see more Wasioux protecting Danny, he would have ramped up the protection in here with Cody.
“Okay, we need to fight!” Stella yells out. “Max, you and Anita Kay take that wereboon. Sandy, help Trevor with that wereboon. Hollis and I will take these two on.”
We all grab our knives and I jump right onto my person: he throws me across the room - man, he is strong - but I take out my knife and I remember how to throw it. And I quickly line it up and throw it across the room and it sticks right into his forehead right in between his eyes. He grabs for it and starts pulling it out and I run over to him and stab him right in the heart and he goes down on the ground. I see all the blood and
I start throwing up. I can see he is dead. I then get up and rush over to help Stella: she has already cut her guy a few times. Blood again is flying everywhere. I then stab him in his neck and then Stella stabs him in his heart, and that is it, he flops around for a few seconds and then stops breathing. I look over and Trevor has cut the head off the wereboon he was fighting and Max and Anita Kay are struggling with theirs. I run over to help and their wereboons jump right on top of me. One pins me down and it is slobbering all over my face. I look up and off its head goes and blood just goes all over me. Trevor has come over and cuts its head off.
I get up and wipe my face off. Stella is already over untying Cody. Sandy is also over with him. Stella says, “Hollis, hurry, come and take me through first so I can help Cody when you bring him over. Then bring everyone else over. We have to hurry.”
I grab Stella and transport her over and then I come back and grab Cody.
“I knew you would come, I just knew it. I keep trying to mentally say your name because I didn’t want them to hear me, so if you did come they would not know who you were,” Cody says.
“You are correct, I couldn’t leave my best friend stuck here to die. Now we can chat later,” I say. Then I transport him through. I leave and go back and get everyone and bring them over. Luckily Max turns back into Max: she is too big being a wereboon.
“Wait, I need to go back,” I say. Stella is helping Cody, but she runs over to me.
“What do you mean, go back? We must get to the library. We do not have time for you to go back. Why?” Stella asks.
“Please forgive me, Sandy, but I need to go back and kill Danny: if I don’t, he is just going to keep this up. I know he is your brother, but we have to stop him. I can transport in and stab him and be right out. I will meet you guys at the library,” I say.
Stella grabs my hands and keeps shaking her head no. I reach up and grab her face and I have blood all over my hands, but I then put my lips to hers and start kissing her. For a moment I forget about everything and everyone around me. I then hear someone clear their throat and I stop. Max comes and is licking my hand.
“I will meet you at the library.” I then let go of Stella and transport myself back into the room and wham, something hits me hard and everything goes black.
When I come to everything is foggy and I can’t tell where I was. I know I am tied up, though, and Danny is right in my face. His eyes are glowing red and I know it is later and the double red moons have started to rise.
He says, “I knew you guys were up to something. I knew I had lost time yesterday. Today I only smoked a little of the pipe and came to after being out a little bit.”
He has huge fangs and his hands have very long fingernails. He has blood already on his fangs. He says, “You took Cody away, but now I have you. I am not sure how you guys got them out of the room, but you did. Now let’s see how you are when I start draining your blood.”
I am trying to get my hands free, but right then he pulls my head sideways and I can feel the warmth of his breath on my neck and his fangs just go right into my neck and I let out a yell.

CHAPTER 21: FOUND HIM
* * *
“T here he is: he is down there in that hole. Hollis, Hollis, wake up. It’s your mom and the rest of us!” Jake yells. Hollis, my baby. Hollis can you hear me? Wake up!” my mom yells.
“Thelma, let us get down there to him, we need to get the ladders down into the hole and get to him. Please stand back for a moment,” Preacher Miller says.
A couple guys hurry and put some ladders down in the hole. Jake, my mom, and Preacher Miller come down the ladders. I can see them and hear them, but I am a little weak. I need some water and so does Max: she can barely hold her head up. We have run out of water and food and we are exhausted from trying to get out of this hole. My mom comes and hugs me and is squeezing me big-time: I can hardly breathe.
“Oh are you okay, my baby? Please tell me you are not hurt,” she asks.
“We need some water, please. Can you get some water to Max first?”
Jake gives some water to me, and Preacher Miller gives water to Max.
“Are you hurt? You had to have fallen into the hole. Let me look at you,” my mom says.
“The rescue people are right here and they will check him out,” Preacher Miller says. The rescue workers come down and check me out along with Max.
“Your dog is fine: she, along with yourself, is dehydrated. You, though, do have a twisted ankle, which you probably got from the fall. We will ice it and wrap it up and then transport you to get it checked. You also have the two punctured holes in your neck that have fresh blood on them. Were there any snakes in here that you saw, or spiders?” the rescue guy asks.
“I didn’t see any snakes and maybe spiders.” I reach up and grab my neck and I can feel the two marks on my neck.
“Probably a spider bite. We will get that checked out also at the hospital. I am going to wrap your foot now and put some ice on it for the swelling,” the rescue guy says. He then wraps my foot. My mom keeps rubbing my head. Jake is trying to help the rescue guys and he is making sure Max has water.
“Oh here, I do have a couple protein bars in my pocket. Here is one for you, Hollis, to eat and here is one for Max,” Jake says. I rip open the bar and eat it fast. He then opens the one for Max and she does not hesitate and eats it really fast.

; “You see, I told you he would be okay, Thelma. You just have to keep the faith,” Preacher Miller says.
“I kept the faith and prayed a lot, but I was worried, Preacher Miller. I am not going to lie about it,” my mom says.
“It’s perfectly alright. Thank you, Jake, you set up a great rescue team and I can see how much Hollis’s friendship means to you,” Preacher Miller says.
“Yes, you are right. He is a good friend and I didn’t want anything to happen to him,” Jake says.
“Okay, let’s get you loaded up and let’s get you to the hospital,” the rescue guy says. “Your mom and your friend here along with your dog can all come.”
“Oh by the way, Mom, we have a new dog and her name is Max. She is my protector. She kept me great company,” I say.
“Right now is a good time to get anything you want from me. I am just so happy you’re okay. Not sure why you took off from the camp but I am glad you are okay,” my mom says.
I look up then and at the top of the hole is Jimmy Stewart, standing just looking down at me. They then get me out of the hole and into an ambulance and then we go to the hospital. I do have a sprained ankle: nothing serious and the doctor says the bites are from a spider. Preacher Miller and the church bus are there to pick us up. We go and get in Preacher Miller’s car and then the bus follows us and we drive home. We eventually make it home and Jake and my mom help me in the house and into my bedroom.
“Hey, I will hang out with you for a little while,” Jake says.
“I will make you guys some food and get Max some food as well. I am sure you guys are starved. Then you guys will need to get some rest,” my mom says. After that she left the room.
“Dude, what happened? Why did you take off?” Jake asks.
“I was just tired of Jimmy Stewart doing things to me and embarrassing me in front of everyone. He just will not stop. He keeps on and on and I just couldn’t take it anymore. Plus I knew no one would miss me if I skipped out for a couple of hours. By the way, how long was I gone?” I ask.
