“I am so glad we found each other. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”
“I love you Rachel.” Adiel slowly kissed her again and again.
“And I love you.”
She stepped inside and watched him drive away. In a week, she would be married and starting the rest of her life with the man she loved.
Epilogue
The wedding took place a week later, at town hall. It was just immediate family—Rachel’s mother, Norm, Harrison and Emma and Adiel’s parents. Rachel was thrilled that they’d flown down for the wedding.
“My mother wasn’t happy at first that we weren’t going to have a big, important wedding, but she got over it pretty quickly. Ultimately, I think they both just want me to be happy.”
“We just want him to be happy,” his mother, Renata, said when Rachel talked with her before the wedding. “He says that you make him happy, so that make us happy. He’s kind of a special guy, you know.”
Rachel smiled. “I agree. I’m rather fond of him myself.”
His mother laughed. “Of course you are. Don’t mind me.”
His father was quiet. He didn’t say much, but he did pull Rachel aside to tell her that he approved and he wished them both the best.
“Thank you. That means a lot to both of us.”
The service itself was over in a flash and before she knew it, she and Adiel were pronounced husband and wife. They went back to the lake house where Adiel had hired a caterer and there was a huge tent and the cast and crew and everyone they knew in Riston was invited. The party went until almost one in the morning. His parents were long gone by then, back at the Copper Cottage at the ranch and her mother and siblings had gone home.
It was just the two of them, sitting on the deck overlooking the lake with the stars shining above them, the moon shining brightly and a soft breeze overhead.
“My mother’s getting married a month from now. She and Norm have already bought a new house together and they’re all getting ready to move in.”
“That’s a big step. How do your brother and sister feel about it?”
“It’s a little strange for them, but they both really like Norm and we’ve never had a father around. I think it will be good for them. He really loves her. I don’t think he ever stopped loving her.”
“It’s great that they found their way back to each other.”
“I know. I’m so happy for her.”
Adiel leaned forward and kissed her lightly.
“And I’m so happy for us. We’re married now. Can you believe it?”
“Yes. In a way, I feel like we’ve been together forever. I know that sounds strange, but from the moment I met you, I felt that connection. Like we were meant to be together. Like maybe we were together in another lifetime.”
Adiel laughed. “Well that makes sense. Because if we were together in another lifetime, I never would have let you go. I’m so glad that we found each other.”
Rachel kissed him so passionately that it took his breath away.
“Get used to it. I love you Mr. Bozeman.”
Adiel grinned. “And I love you more, Mrs. Bozeman.”
They rocked in their chairs and watched the water ripple in the breeze as the shimmering moonlight shone down on them, and they both sighed, happy at last that they had found each other.
