“Zamuel, I love him. Please, help me fix him.”
“Who hit you, Emmerie?”
“No one you know, Zamuel.” She sobbed. She wasn’t the one who needed help. “Neither of them did this.”
Shadows passed through her brother’s gaze, and Emmerie knew she’d be alone, and perhaps unable to save Reza.
“Get more bandages. Do you have any quetzalem blood?”
She shook her head. They didn’t have anything in the house that would help cleanse the wound. They didn’t even keep whisky. All she had was the mulled wine.
Her brother lifted the bandages to check the wound before applying pressure to the area once more. “The bleeding has slowed. He’ll be fine. I have the feeling Lennox knew as much, which is why he’s still alive. Lennox may be furious, but he’s no murderer.” Zamuel looked around the home. “Is there a fire going?”
Emmerie burst into a fresh round of tears since Reza had been intent on building a fire for her. “I think he was building one in the bedroom fireplace while I was in the shower. It’s probably gone out by now, he was still feeding it with timber.”
“We’ll need to cauterize the wound, Em.”
She nodded and took Reza into her arms. Zamuel disappeared, and she knew he was going to retrieve one of the swords from Lennox’s workshop outside the home. He returned a moment later with a sword before heading into her bedroom.
“Lennox has been to the shop. He’s taken every sword, but left you one.” The tip of the blade glowed red from being stuck in the fire Reza had started making. “You’re going to have to hold him tight in case he wakes up.”
Emmerie pulled him into her arms where she sat on the floor and held on for dear life. The smoldering blade penetrated the wound, the scent of burning flesh billowing into the air. Her nose wrinkled against the foul smell. The scent nearly made her vomit, but Reza stirred against the fresh round of pain. Not realizing the blade was meant to heal him, Reza stretched his arms out protectively over Emmerie.
She smiled, but tears leaked down her cheeks. “It’s okay, Reza. He’s here to help.”
A pained grunt was the only response before he passed into unconsciousness once more.
Zamuel finally removed the blade, satisfied that the wound had been fully cauterized. “It will be a long recovery, but he’ll survive. The wound missed the major arteries. Lennox would have known where they were, so you can be grateful he chose to leave Reza alive.”
She cradled Reza’s chin in her hands, gazing down at his sleeping lids. She tore her eyes away long enough only to question her brother. “You saw Lennox?”
“Yes. He was not well. I rushed here to make sure you were okay, and I saw him stopping by the Mage’s to repeal your bond with each other.”
The thought pained her, but at the same time, Emmerie couldn’t help but feel released. Reza would survive, and she’d be free to commit to him. Only him. He’d said he wanted her.
“Thank you, brother. I know helping Reza was not your intention when you came here.”
“I love you, Em. I’ve never known you to be selfish. But if this sex demon wakes only to break your heart…” Zamuel’s eyes flashed a dangerous shade of gray. “I’ll finish what Lennox started.” With that, her brother lifted Reza into his arms and carried him into the bedroom.
“Thank you.” Emmerie reached out and pulled Zamuel into a hug. The last of her tears dried on his shirt and Emmerie’s heart clenched at the unconditional love her brother possessed for her. This was the way she loved Reza. Now she just had to wait for him to wake.

Two days later, Reza stirred as sunlight reached his skin. Strands of silk caressed his flesh and a crisp, warm scent made him desire consciousness all the more. His eyes opened and his head turned just enough to see Emmerie’s head lying on his shoulder. Her blonde hair was splayed across his torso, a blanket covering them both from the waist down. Bandages covered his stomach where his wound still burned with a subtle, lingering pain.
But the real agony withered through his whole body, the withdrawal from ecstasy taking its toll. He wasn’t even sure how long it had been, but his body spoke to him, and for the first time in his life, he experienced what happened to a sex demon after going without climax for so long.
“Reza!” Emmerie’s voice was an angel’s song, but the magical sonnet became tragic when she clung to him and sobbed.
“No tears. I’m alive, darling. Reward me with a smile.”
She laughed, but sobs still escaped.
“That’s more like it,” he joked.
“Tears of joy. I promise.”
Reza cupped her face and wiped away the tear tracks. “Gods, I—”
“I love you.” The words came in a rush, and all Reza’s pain fled at Emmerie’s words.
“Is this because I was on the verge of death? Hell, I’ll take it.”
Her lips covered his, cutting off his words. Her mouth convinced him of her intense desire for him. Her lips sought his out in a promise, a promise that they would have eternity together. She released him, but gently maneuvered on top of him. Her flimsy nightgown left little to the imagination, and his cock hardened beneath her.
“Are you well?” She purred, her eyes branding him with blue fire, taking Reza to a new state of arousal.
“Never been better.”
“It’s about to get better.” Emmerie pulled the gown up over her head.
Gods, it is about to get better. “I love you, Emmerie. I’m going to worship you forever. I never want to have another.”
Her finger pressed against his lips, silencing him. “I know.”
His hands found the smooth contour of her stomach and traced the outline of her body, finding her curves and squeezing. He leaned up to kiss her, but the pain in his wound burned.
“Relax.” Emmerie bent over on top of him, finding his lips and easing him back into the pillow.
His cock throbbed beneath her, but she slid down him, tugging his pants along with her. Slowly, his legs were free of the fabric and his hard length sprang free.
“You are fully recovered, aren’t you?” She smiled, straddling him once more. His body ached as he watched her prepare to slide atop him. “I’m going to make love to you now, Reza.”
The admission nearly sent him over the edge. “Wait.” His hesitation caused surprise to flicker over her expression. “Come to me.”
She looked confused, so Reza reached out and grabbed her thighs, pulling her toward him. When she realized his intentions, her eyes widened and she squirmed against his grip. But his desire made him strong, and he brought her legs to straddle his face. He sank into the pillow and relaxed into the pleasure of tasting her.
“Oh my God,” she gasped.
Reza still gripped her thighs; they quivered on both sides of him as he licked her exposed core. From this position, he had the perfect view of her womanhood, and the smell and taste of her honey cured all his wounds. His lips kissed her sweet bud in its nestled location just above his mouth. Her desire became liquid need against his tongue, and she arched her back against the pleasure.
“Okay, now we’re ready.” His voice was gruff, and his need to have her was obvious.
Her smile lit the room as she scooted back down his torso and positioned herself above his thick shaft. It bobbed, ready to meet her tender flesh. Gods, he wanted her more than anything.
Her eyes became a blue sky against the sun shining through the window, closing to half-mast in pleasure as she slid down on him. Her core tightened around him and his body reacted with a wave of desire. It took all he had not to arch his body into her. His own pain be damned, he wanted to take her and never let go. He wanted to explore every inch of her slippery folds.
“You feel so good.” The angel had become his kitten, purring with satisfaction as she filled with his length.
“You’re my heaven, Emmerie. Thank the gods I found you.”
The wetness he’d prepared her with helped her glide u
p and down on him. “I’ve never done it like this,” she confessed. The knowledge made him twitch inside of her. “Oh.” She moaned at his reaction.
“You’re perfect.”
She arched her back, and he knew she was feeling every inch of him. She began quickening her pace, riding him in an erotic dance. Her hips ground against his loins in slow circles, and her inner heat nearly had him coming already. Her eyes locked on his, but each time she sank down on him completely, her lids closed to half-mast. Her smile was made for pleasure. The sight of it caused Reza’s body to begin refueling. She squeezed tight around him, and Reza knew they were both nearing climax. Her body was a wave on top of him, her breasts bouncing gently through the sensual ride.
“Gods, you’re beautiful, Emmerie.” His hands went to the place where her core met his torso and he fondled her bud. It was swollen with need, and when he touched it as she continued to grind against him, she shuddered.
“Yes.” She screamed with pleasure and he felt her coming on top of him. She squeezed tight around his cock, milking out his own pleasure. A climax like he’d never experienced before hit him like an explosion, painful ecstasy shooting through his body like a drug through his veins. His body became new again, revived by the peak.
Reza grabbed hold of Emmerie’s soft bum and flipped positions with her. Her back gently landed on the bed and he reentered her. She screamed with pleasure and surprise.
“Reza, you’re hurt,” she protested, but the ecstasy of her climax still lingered on her face as he drove into her once more.
“I’m perfect, lover. You’ve made me whole again. Now, time for round two.”
* * * *
Just when Emmerie thought the tremors of pleasure were over, Reza drove into her once more. With her back to the bed, she had an exquisite view of her lover in all his glory. Reza’s long torso may have been bandaged, but it didn’t hide the massive length of hard muscle. He was an image of strength, and each time he thrust into her, his muscles tightened, causing butterflies to take flight in her stomach. He slammed into her with a raw sensual power that made Emmerie tremble. He wasn’t treating her like a fragile young woman. He was making love to her as if there were no tomorrow. And she loved it. He would leave no crevice of her body unclaimed.
Another powerful thrust crashed into her, causing her breasts to bounce, only to be claimed by Reza’s mouth. For the first time in her life, Emmerie knew what it was like to be a goddess. Sharp teeth nibbled on her sensitive peaks as his shaft continued to slam into her, seeking out the depth that would bring her the most pleasure. He’d found it, and as he reached deep, her body trembled with pleasure like she’d never before experienced.
“You’re right.” She laughed in ecstasy, giddy with pleasure. “This is much better than the spoon.”
He released her pink tip from between his teeth only to smile at her, causing a new flood of desire to swarm her body. “I vow that you’ll never use that spoon again.”
His eyes burned down upon her like a sensual fire. Ecstasy danced across the handsome planes of his face, a seductive smile promising her more bliss to come. His slow thrusts reached deep inside of her. Each time he extended into her depths, he pulled her closer, and she inhaled the scent of him. After lying in her bed for so many days, Reza smelled of cotton and timber fires, like home. Another deep thrust rocked her and ecstasy barreled toward her once more. She’d been left on the edge of bliss ever since her first orgasm, and now, he brought her to the brink once more.
“Yes!”
He clutched her hair and kissed her lips as he quickened the pace, sending them both over the edge once more. He didn’t stop as pleasure washed over them, he went harder and faster. The bed shook under the force of their lovemaking. Emmerie climaxed hard to the sound of the bed rocking hard against the wall. The fire flickered from the hearth, but it couldn’t compare to the heat washing over her body. Her hands were clammy as she grabbed hold of Reza’s shoulders and prepared for another climax. The next explosion made her see stars, and she chuckled at the overwhelming amount of pleasure. A smile couldn’t be avoided.
“That’s right, my love.” Reza looked down at her with sheer satisfaction in his grin. He slowed his thrusts, but still sought of the deepest crevice of her core, as if bidding her body good night before finally pulling out.
“Oh my God,” she panted.
He didn’t collapse on top of her like she expected. Instead, he propped himself up and gazed down upon her. “Have I mentioned that I love you?”
“Yep.” Excitement sent lightning through her body and she was left with the tingling of a love buzz.
“You’re a healer.”
“I am?”
“You’ve brought the pleasure my body needed to recover.”
Em’s hand went to the wound at his side and began to peel away the bandage.
“Not that wound, my love. I’d been too long without, a sex demon needs climax to stay healthy. When we go without, our body begins to break down.”
“Oh, my.” Worry gnawed at her.
“What’s wrong?” He pushed a tendril of hair out of her face.
“I…I won’t be enough for you.”
“Emmerie, since the first day I laid eyes upon you, no one else would ever have been enough. If you left me tomorrow, I would surely wither away and die. Even if I laid with another woman, I’d never find pleasure. There is only you. Bind with me, Emmerie. Will you spend forever with me?”
Her jaw dropped as her heart clenched tight. He wanted to bind himself to her. She’d done so with Lennox, but her brother said that Lennox had already seen the town Mage and undone the binding, which could be performed upon true heartbreak.
“Nothing has ever made me as happy as when I’m with you, Reza. You surprise me. You let me be myself. Of course I want to spend forever with you.”
Reza rolled, sweeping Emmerie into his arms so that she was now on top of him. He pulled her into the most passionate kiss of her life. Her toes curled and caressed the warm skin of his leg as they savored the taste of each other. A smile from Reza ended the kiss, but filled Emmerie with happiness.
“All right, once more, then I’ll go into town for the Mage.” Reza shot her a seductive grin before trailing his kisses down her neck, and lower to her breast. He suckled on her pink tips, sending warmth to her core. God, he made her so hot. His kisses found the tender flesh between her legs and they began the slow adventure into ecstasy.
Chapter 10
At sunset, Emmerie and Reza stood before the Mage. Rather than do the binding in town before scrutinizing eyes, Reza had brought the town seer to Hidden Lake.
“Where we first met.”
“Well, not first.” Emmerie smiled, remembering their encounter in town with young Riley.
“The first meeting that counted, the day I made my intentions known. When I saw you smile in that lake, Emmerie, I was done for.”
The Mage cleared her throat. The seer was at least one hundred years old, and yet she looked eternally youthful, stuck at thirteen years old. Mages held a powerful position in a society and kept villages in order. Not as a dictator, but as a guiding light.
“I should have you know, Emmerie Winter, that I foresaw this day. Much heartache had to come, and yet, it was the only way for everyone to find their lifemates.”
Emmerie recalled the day she bound herself to Lennox. It wasn’t a fancy ceremony, but since they’d been betrothed since youth, it made sense.
The Mage glowed before them, a fuzzy white aura penetrating the air around the young girl. A bright smile came from the youth. “Yes. Yes, this is all working out just as I saw. And Lennox will be pleased as well,” the Mage’s chipper voice advised.
The knowledge made Emmerie happy, albeit in disbelief, but she didn’t have time to contemplate Lennox’s future. The young Mage grabbed her hand and put it within Reza’s. Enveloping their hands together with her own, a vibrant glow became a ball of light bright enough to rival the sun.
<
br /> “Oh, yes, this will be good.” The seer’s eyes became a hazy white cloud as she saw the future.
Reza tightened his hold on Emmerie’s hands. “I vow to treasure you for the rest of our lives, to protect and pleasure you. I promise that I will always love you for exactly who you are, whoever you choose to be, Emmerie. Your smile will always be my home.”
The Mage beside them fell away and all Emmerie saw was Reza. Happiness danced in his golden gaze, a serenity that she never wanted to be without. “I promise to follow you to the ends of the earth as your lifemate. I’ll never be away from you, and every second that passes you will know love. I never truly smiled until we spoke, and my body never belonged to another until I was in your arms. I want to stay there forever.”
“And so you are bound to each other.” The Mage took her hands away and the glowing stopped. But the happiness in Emmerie’s heart didn’t dim.
“I love you, Emmerie.”
“I love you more.”
Now, that glowing continued for the rest of her life.
