The Case of the Rising Star

“Daniel, perhaps it’s best if we close and lock the doors. Just in case someone happens to be up.”

  “Good idea, Derrick.”

Neither Nathan nor Jack paid any attention to us. Jack was busy bobbing on Nathan’s prick while Nathan guided the man by firmly gripping his head in both hands. Within minutes, I was hearing my brother in the throes of a powerful orgasm for the second time that night. However, Jack was far from done with him. The football player stripped off his clothes while Nathan watched in silence. Jack had muscles where I’d never seen them before. Nathan leaned toward Jack and wound up flopping on top of him. Jack wrapped his arms around him and they kissed passionately. As if on cue, Jack flipped onto his stomach and rose up on all fours. I heard Nathan spit into his hand several times, and then a loud grunt as he entered Jack. As I watched the action on the couch, Daniel stepped up to me and pressed firmly against me.

“Hey there, Mr. Steele. What do you say we put on our own show?”

  “I’m in.”

While Daniel kissed me, he began undoing my pants. Soon they were at my ankles, along with my briefs. He turned me around and bent me over the pool table. He spat several times, slathered my hole with his saliva, and slid deep inside me. When he was all the way in, he paused a moment and stuck his tongue in my right ear before beginning to thrust into me with short, deep jabs. I pushed back against him on each one. It wasn’t much longer before he was emptying deep inside me.

The rest of the night became a blur. After Nathan finished with Jack, he passed out on the couch—this time for good. Jack didn’t hesitate to join Daniel and me after that in our bed, and the three of us took turns on each other for the next several hours.

When I woke it was light outside, and I was sore all over. Daniel was already dressed and showered and ready to leave.

“Good morning, sleepyhead. You were quite the animal last night. I’m headed to the airport for my flight to New York. I’m sorry I’m going to miss the dinner tonight with Warren.”

“Liar. Who’s taking you to the airport?”

“Your father offered to. I thought you could use your rest. What are your plans today?”

“I’m heading to the studio this morning. The final scene is being filmed today. But first, I need to take some aspirin. Could you grab me some?”

  “Sure.”

He returned from the bathroom with three tablets and a glass of water. I swallowed them and drank the entire glass of water.

“Have you seen Nathan this morning?”

“He and his new friend were at breakfast. Afterward, they left. I think he was taking him back to his house and then heading into the office.”

“I can’t wait to catch up with him and have a chat about last night.”

“Yes, that was quite out of the ordinary for Nathan. To top it off, he mentioned before he left that he’s having dinner with Stella tonight. Apparently, your brother goes both ways.”

He bent down and kissed me and left the room.

By the time I dressed and showered, the aspirin had done its job. I skipped breakfast and was soon pulling up to the guard shack at the studio. After the guard called Jonathan, he arrived in a matter of minutes. He greeted me warmly, after which he informed me that Gordon and the rest of the crew were on an extended break due to a malfunction in one of the cameras. He wasn’t exactly sure where Gordon was at the moment, but I was welcome to wait in his trailer, or have a look around if I felt like it. He also let me know that Stuart had insisted on hiring armed guards to keep his stars safe. While a part was being tracked down on the lot, the actors and extras had gone their separate ways till a callback to the set was given. I thanked him for the information and began to wander the main street of the town. No one paid any attention to me. From this perspective, it appeared as if all the buildings were solid on all four sides. But if you took the time to investigate further, you would see that they all had false fronts, with half sides, or sometimes no sides at all. It was all illusion; motion picture magic.

I had just reached the saloon when I spied a man farther down the street dressed in cowboy clothing entering a large barn, with a sign denoting it as the livery. It appeared to be the same color clothing Gordon had worn in the shoot the other day. I didn’t want to shout in case it wasn’t him. This set was inundated with men dressed as cowboys. I decided to investigate firsthand. When I reached the barn, one of its doors was ajar. I opened it slowly and peered inside. I saw stacks and stacks of baled hay, numerous gardening and farm tools, but no cowboy. My detective senses kicked into high gear, and I stepped inside. It was quite cool compared to the heat outside. I didn’t want to call out, for fear of getting in trouble for being where I wasn’t supposed to be. I was just about to turn and leave when I heard low moaning coming from the rear of the barn. I walked toward where I thought the sound was emanating from. As I got closer to the back of the barn, I heard several distinct noises, not just one. I was pretty sure the soft moans, grunts, and eager sucking noises were not being made by barn mice.

I stepped around a stack of baled hay several feet taller than me and came upon a scene that set my blood to racing. Behind the bales was a 4x4 stall, and in it were four bales of hay in a single layer. Four men, dressed in cowboy clothing, were each sitting on a bale, their denims and briefs bunched at their ankles, just above their shiny boots. I guessed two of them to be around Gordon’s age, the third to be my age, and the fourth at least ten years older than me. Each had his shirt unbuttoned. All four had enormous erections, which Harry, the director’s assistant, was taking turns bobbing on. All five of them looked up when they heard my footsteps, startled looks on their faces. The silver-haired one rose as if to flee, or perhaps knock me to the hay-strewn floor.

“Relax, boys. I’m not here to interrupt your fun. There’s a break on the set, and I was looking for Gordon Maxwell. I’ll just be moving along. You enjoy yourselves, now.”

“You can join us if you like, Derrick,” Harry said.

  “I’d like that, Harry.”

With that, the last man on the hay bale moved over, giving me room on his bale. I quickly dropped my pants and briefs and sat next to him, the hay immediately tickling my ass. Harry moved back to the first man in line and began sucking his cock noisily. The rest of the extras stroked their stiffers, keeping them ready for their turn. Without asking, the silver-haired man sitting next to me spat into his left hand, grabbed my dick, and stroked me to full hardness.

  “Nice one.”

  “Thanks.”

I watched as Harry began working down the line, a blanket under his knees moving with him. When it was my turn I sighed contentedly as his warm mouth engulfed my stiffer and he bobbed for a good five minutes. He was then back to the first man in line. The anticipation of his return was intense. When he came back down the line, the silver-haired man cried out as his explosion overtook him. Harry took all he had to give and moved on to me. Again, it was over almost before it began as he moved on. As the next cowboy spewed his seed, it dawned on me that this little party must have started ten or fifteen minutes before I came on the scene. Before long, I was the only one Harry was still working on. All the rest of the cowboys had left. When Harry took the initiative and slid two fingers in my asshole, I rewarded him by spewing deep down his throat.

“Thanks, Harry. That was just what I needed this morning.”

“Happy to oblige, Derrick. Now, I should be getting back to Stuart.”

I was just pulling up my pants and briefs when Gordon entered the stall.

“I thought I might find you here. This is one of Harry’s favorite ways to pass the time during breaks.”

  “Harry is very talented.”

  “Yes, I know.”

“By the way, the final shoot has been pushed to tomorrow morning. They’re still searching for replacement parts for not one, but two cameras.”

  “Thanks for letting me know.”

When Gordon and I walked out of the barn, I found myse
lf face-to-face with Warren. I wasn’t sure how he’d gotten on the set, but I didn’t hide my displeasure at running into him. After we had agreed to give Warren a chance at the agency, his first assignment had been to assist Daniel on his hotel burglary case, in addition to helping Nathan perform research on several cases. For him to be here at Paramount Studios meant he was surely trying to work Gordon’s case.

“Do you know this man, Derrick?”

I didn’t want to hide the truth from Gordon, and I was sure Warren wouldn’t.

“Yes, he’s my half-brother, Warren Montgomery. He’s helping out at the agency. Warren, this is Gordon Maxwell.”

“Yes, I know who he is, Derrick. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Maxwell. I very much enjoy your pictures.”

  “Thank you, Warren.”

As they shook hands, I had the overpowering desire to punch Warren in the mouth. “Warren, are you following me?”

He stood facing me, his hands defiantly on his hips. I was starting to get a bad feeling about this situation.

“As a matter of fact I was, Derrick. I finished that idiotic assignment you had me working on with Daniel. I figured I’d go where the real action is. Apparently, this is it. As your oldest brother, and a much more experienced detective, one would think I’d have seniority.”

I actually felt the menace building within Warren as he stepped closer to me. It was then I smelled liquor on his breath. Now, I’m not one who can point fingers where drinking is concerned. At least it never made me mean. Without warning, Warren swung at me with a right-handed uppercut and caught me squarely on the chin. I was thrown backward and against the barn. To my amazement, Gordon went into a boxing stance and delivered several blows to Warren’s head and face. Warren dropped to the ground.

Suddenly, three armed guards were pointing guns at him.

  Chapter Nine

Gordon took immediate control of the scene.

“It’s okay. I’m Gordon Maxwell. The three of us are just rehearsing a scene from my new picture. Sorry for the misunderstanding.”

The guards holstered their weapons and walked away. Warren stood up and was wiping blood from the corner of his mouth.

“My apologies to you, Derrick, and you as well, Gordon. I’m just trying to fit into this family. I’m nervous about doing a good job. I hope this won’t cancel my dinner invitation this evening, Derrick!”

He turned and left without waiting for a response.

For a moment I almost felt sorry for him.

“I have some things to wrap up on the set, Derrick. It sounds like you’re busy this evening. I’ll give you a call in the morning.”

  “Okay, Gordon.”

After leaving Paramount and the fight with Warren, I was keyed up to the boiling point. My old habits would no longer be denied. I knew where I was headed. I pulled up in front of the Valentino. I was pleased to see Jacob was still plying his trade. He recognized me, but made no move to approach me. He was probably still pissed by my rebuff of the other day. Not willing to be ignored, I boldly walked up to him.

“Hi there, Jacob. I’m in need of some company for the next picture. Would you like to join me?”

His smile was his answer. I purchased two tickets from the same old man behind the ticket counter, and Jacob and I climbed the carpeted stairs to the balcony. Again, we were alone. I decided to be a little more discreet this time, and walked to the very last seat in the darkened corner. Jacob tagged along behind me.

“How do you want to do this?”

In answer, I undid the buttons on my pants and pushed them and my briefs to my ankles. I laid my coat on the seat and sat down. Jacob grabbed my cock in his right hand and brought me to a full erection.

“Did you bring any grease, Jacob?”

He pulled a tiny tin from his pocket and greased my prick. He dropped his own pants and briefs and greased himself thoroughly. I grabbed him roughly at his hips and pulled him back to me and over my waiting pole. I guided him to me and pulled him onto my cock in one swift movement. He was tight and warm, and he moaned softly as I filled him.

He rose up slowly and slid back down. I grabbed him firmly by the hips and drove up into him. At the same time, he bounced on my lap, wildly. After a sweaty ten minutes I was emptying into him. I stayed hard inside him and stood up with him impaled on my cock. He grabbed onto the seat in front of him, and I went at him for a good twenty minutes. It always took me longer to come the second time. As I was plowing his ass, he grabbed his own dick and we came together, in one heaving sweaty mass of flesh. Thankfully, the noise of our coupling did not rouse any patrons from below. When I was soft, I slid out of him and sat down; he collapsed in the seat next to me.

“Christ, Derrick, I’m going to be sore for a week. I’ve never had someone go twice like that before. Of course, you know that’s going to cost you double.”

Without a word I threw five twenties in his lap, kissed him on the lips, pulled up my pants and briefs, and went down the stairs to the lobby. I pulled my silver flask from my inside coat pocket and took a deep pull from it. After a second one I got in my car and drove home.

When I arrived, the house was a flurry of activity. Dinner was to be at seven, with cocktails at six. My mother was pulling out all the stops and had been hunkered down in the kitchen with her personal chef for days. The delicious smell of beef was wafting from the kitchen. The house had been scrubbed from top to bottom and, of course, we all knew to dress in our Sunday finest.

After a nice hot shower, I called Daniel at his hotel in New York City. It was good to hear his voice.

“I haven’t contacted any clients just yet. I’ve mainly been setting up meetings and readjusting to New York City. I’m glad I’m not there for this dinner, though. Based on all of Warren’s actions since his arrival in Los Angeles, I don’t welcome him into the agency or the family.”

“I feel the same way, Daniel. But the decision is ultimately my father’s. I’m sure he’s filled with mixed emotions regarding Warren—as is my mother. My parents were unable to have other children after I was born, and here’s another child by my father my mother knew nothing about for years. I’m sure she’s as anxious as he is regarding dinner tonight. You’ve seen how she’s been racing around, getting things ready. Let’s just wait and see how tonight goes. I’m sure Warren will be on his best behavior.

“Well, Mr. McAllister. I can’t be late for the big show. Give me a call tomorrow when you get a chance. Good night.”

“Good night, Derrick. I love you.”

When I left our room I ran into Nathan coming down the hall. We gave each other the once-over and headed downstairs. I hadn’t yet gotten a chance to talk to him about his night with Jack.

My parents were in the dining room, each holding a glass of champagne. Several more were filled and waiting on the sideboard. Two more bottles were chilling in a large silver bucket. I grabbed two flutes and turned to them.

  “Cheers.”

I emptied both, then grabbed a third and sipped it slowly. I needed to have my wits about me for this evening’s entertainment. At precisely six p.m. the doorbell rang and Charles went to answer it. We heard murmuring, and then he was back, trailed by Warren. As Warren entered the dining room I heard a sharp intake of breath from my mother. I was again reminded that Warren’s resemblance to my father was amazing. My father made introductions all around.

“Our other senior investigator, Daniel McAllister, is in New York City on business.”

Nathan was standing next to me, and neither one of us missed the flash of anger or fear on Warren’s face.

The dinner went off without a hitch. It was apparent to all attendees, even Warren, that all eyes were on him. My mother was, as always, the gracious hostess and to all outward appearances seemed quite taken with Warren. I had to wonder, though, how much of her fascination was wrapped up in the realization this was another child of her beloved husband. Warren certainly was on his best behavior—the best I’d seen from him si
nce his arrival in Los Angeles. He was charming, engaging, and solicitous to my parents, and the rest of us when engaged. I hated to admit this to myself, but his laugh was infectious.

He had a dazzling smile and was able to add flavor and insight to any topic my family brought up. I also noticed he had only one glass of wine with dinner, and no champagne. He had been somewhat drunk when he confronted me at Paramount. I was certain he was holding back on his drinking to make a good impression on my family. My father was his usual gregarious self, engaging Warren and the rest of the table in current events, including sports, the motion picture industry, and quite candid details and stories regarding our family and numerous cases he had worked on over the years. It was quite evident, though, we were not going to discuss Angus O’Malley—or maybe he was waiting till after dinner. I wondered if Warren would stay for the customary after-dinner brandy.

I got my answer quick enough, for it was soon clear the meal had come to an end. Mother began gathering the dishes and, to my surprise, Warren pitched in. It was now more obvious than ever he was going above and beyond to ingratiate himself with my family. Not to be outdone, we all helped Mother clear the table. Afterward, Warren joined us in the billiards room for drinks. He proved to be a very good player, beating Nathan in several games. He was unable to best me or my father, and I sensed discontent as the evening progressed. I did note that he only had one brandy. After a few hours, Warren made his exit, his excuse being he was new to the city and still getting adjusted to the time difference. After he had gone, we ceased playing pool and gathered at the bar. Once we were all seated, and sipping our individual drinks, my father began speaking.

“All in all, this evening went better than I had planned—almost too good, in fact, it seems. I have to admit I was looking for more signs of Angus in Warren, which I know is unfair to Warren. He was certainly on his best behavior, almost to an irritating extreme. But there were times when I saw flashes of anger in his eyes when he thought no one’s attention was focused on him. He reminds me of a young Angus, before he became the cunning, savage man he was when he died. We’ll just have to see how this next month plays out. Now, it’s time for me to go to bed. I’ll see you two in the morning.”
