"Aiden, I'm Summer." I smiled, tears roaming my eyes. He didn't remember me.
"Then Im winter!" He laughed, "I feel like I've heard that before. But I can't put my finger on it." He again, thought out loud. I smiled at him, he was too cute.
"Yeah you did, that one weekend when your parents were visiting." Suddenly, he stared at me wide eyed.
"You live with me? Are you my girlfriend?" He asked, I wanted so badly to say yes.
"No. I'm your maid." I bit my lip.
"Why do I have a maid?" Because you can.
"Why do you have so many questions?" I scoffed.
"Because I have Amnesia and Dr. Grandeur said it would be best if I asked a lot of questions. And you're a pretty girl, so I thought, why not ask you to help me out."
"Aiden, you think I'm pretty?" I asked, staring wide-eyed at him.
"Quit calling me that! Summer." He said, intending it to be a teasing word, "is that your real name?"
"Yes." I said, breathing caught in my throat.
"Summer do I have a job?"
"Yeah, but I don't think you want to find out."
"Why not, where do I work?"
"The Luzerne."
"That's a dumb name." He laughed. I smiled along.
"Yeah, so is the person who named it." I laughed, watching his confused expression change. He seemed frustrated.
"Who named it?" He asked, a serious expression on his handsome face. I couldn't help but stare at him. He was so handsome.
It was hard to believe he'd actually woken up.
After two months of crying over him, he finally woke up.
"So do you know why you're in the hospital?" I asked.
"Motorcycle accident. I made a wrong turn." His lines seemed rehearsed, he didn't sound like his same old self. And I was fine with that. He just needed some time to remember.
"Hi! I'm Aiden," he waved at the people behind us, "what's my last name?" He whispered, turning toward me.
"Black."
"But I'm white. I'm changing it." He whispered back, a broad smile on his face.
"I'm Aiden White." He grinned at them as I face palmed.
This would take a while. And I was definitely not up to the task of reminding Mr. Player how his life used to be.
Aiden Black
I stared at the pretty brunette in front of me. She seemed to care about me in a way more than friends should.
I wanted so badly to remember her, but nothing came to mind.
I wanted to remember who she was, her warm eyes seemed to hold untold secrets.
I was frustrated by her remark on the Luzerne, whatever that means.
"Aiden your last name is. . .never mind." She smiled. She hadn't stopped smiling since she saw me.
I must've meant something to her. I must've meant a lot of things to her.
"Summer." I tested her name once again. I faintly remembered saying it before, but it wouldn't come to me.
"Aiden, do you remember anything? At all?" She asked, I looked at her, completely and utterly confused. Nothing was coming to me. Damn it. Well then today we're going to help you remember!" She announced excitedly as an unfamiliar looking lady walked to her side.
"Summer, sweety, I haven't seen you smile this much in forever." The woman, I assume was her mother, said.
"Hey mom." She hugged her, never wiping that warm smile off her face.
"Well now I see why you're so happy. " Her mom smiled, gesturing to me. "How are you doing Aiden?"
"I'm good Mrs. . ." I said, trying to be polite. Was I polite before?
"Gray." Her mom replied, her hand on her daughter's shoulder.
"Summer Gray." I thought out loud. "So jog my memory Summer." I smirked.
"Well hello Summer, you look different." Dr. Grandeur smiled walking in, my gaze turned to Summer, she really was beautiful.
"Thanks doc, I guess I don't need that CT scan after all." She smiled, I couldn't look away, I was entranced.
"I guess you don't." Dr. Grandeur laughed, "Okay Aiden, we will release you in a few hours after we finish all our tests. Can you walk?"
"Yeah doc." I smiled, trying to stand up, Summer grabbed my arm. Her mere touch caused tingles to erupt throughout my body. She must have really been important to have this affect on me.
I hated this lack of memories, without even the slightest remembrance of her.
"Today at three, get up son." The doctor said, putting down his clipboard. I turned to the side of the hospital bed, it felt strange to move. I didn't realize that I was wearing nothing under the hospital gown. It didn't feel weird to me to be naked under there.
My feet landed on the cold floor, I tried to stand up, but fell to the ground. Summer was immediately at my side.
"Okay, no muscle movement for two months has really affected you son. Summer, could you go walk with him for a while, just around the hospital while he gets back into the regular motion." The doctor said, taking his clipboard.
"Sure doc." She smiled, then turned back to me, "Come on. Let's help you up." She said. I placed my arm around her shoulder and tried to stand. We began taking slow steps to the door, she had her arms around my waist holding me up.
"So where did I know you from, because for a maid. You must be pretty caring." I said, starting to feel like I could walk on my own. But something told me that I wanted her hands on me.
"We've went to the same schools for seven years." She said, looking at me. We had been walking around for hours. I'd finally gotten the hang of it, but I didn't want her arms away just yet.
"Did we have something between us? Before the accident?" I asked as we took a seat on the benches. She avoided my eyes, staring anywhere but. Her lip quivered a bit, she seemed unsure.
"Do you want to try walking on your own?" She asked, completely ignoring my question.
"Nope." I smirked.
"Aiden," she sighed, "We didn't have anything going on between us." She whispered. " and the Luzerne is a strip club, you're the manager."
"Oh." I said, unsure of how to reply. Dang! I must've been one hell of a player. I hope I dont have STD's.
"How about we get back so you can get dressed. I think that Dr. Grandeur wants you to get back to your old patterns so you should go to school tomorrow." She said, avoiding eye contact.
"You're very pretty Summer Gray. Besides, I guess now I know why I feel comfortable naked. " I voiced my thoughts, she let out a little laugh.
"Let's go back then." She stood up, I stood up beside her.
"Hold my hand." I smirked, she looked at me surprised, like I'd just come back from the dead, "you know, in case I lose balance?"
"Yeah, sure." She breathed as I intertwined our fingers.
For her claiming to just be my maid with no emotions involved, this felt oddly familiar. And I wanted to hold her hand forever.
"So, I'll see you at school tomorrow?" She asked as we arrived at my hospital room.
"Yeah. Maybe then you could jog my memory." I smirked as she let go of my hand.
I took off the hospital gown, reaching for a pair of boxers on the bed.
"Aiden, maybe next time wait 'till I leave." She whispered loudly. I turned around to see her hands over her eyes as she began walking away.
I smirked, staring at her backing away and bumping into the wall. I laughed silently, putting on my boxers.
I'd definitely be at school tomorrow.
Just to see Summer.
Chapter 21: Home
Aiden Black
I stood in front of a giant castle-like mansion, staring at it as the woman who'd said she was my mom stood beside me.
"Here we are." She smiled widely, walking up to the front door. I couldn't believe it. I lived here.
"Aiden!" A little girl with an annoying snobby attitude shouted angrily, "Where have you been! The maid has been ruining everything. You need to fire her!"
"Summer?" I asked, referring to the maid.
"I don't know her name!" The little girl shouted,
"Why did you leave me for two whole month?! I had to make my own breakfast because the maid was never here!" She yelled, crossing her arms.
"Who are you?" I asked, staring at the little girl.
"Stop playing games Ace!" She shouted,"this is serious!" She ran back into the mansion, stomping her little feet.
She looked about seven years old maybe younger.
"She's your sister." My mom said, leading me inside.
"Oh." I said, taking in the view of the giant mansion. It was beautiful. There was a giant chandelier hanging from the second story ceiling and could be seen from the first story.
"So, your family is coming to visit in the next few days, we have family albums if you'd like to see. Here, since your dad's in England with your brother, maybe I could show you around." She smiled.
"I have a brother?" I asked.
"Yeah, his name is Adam, he's your twin." She smiled widely, he must be the gem of our family for her to say his name that proudly.
"Oh." I said again, frustration filling me up. I couldn't remember anything.
"Come on, maybe your room could help you remember." My mom said as we began walking up the stairs..
These stairs felt like if walked on them a million times. I just don't remember what I was doing. It must've been important.
"Here we are." She grinned widely, hoping the room would jog my memory. I leaned into the room, looking at it's giant space. It had a giant TV plastered on the wall and couches around it. There was a door with see-through curtains leading to a giant beautifully decorated garden. Probably downstairs. I looked at the bed. And the small trashcan full of used condoms beside it.
Are those all mine? I looked around, scanning the plain walls, no pictures anywhere, a desk was at the far corner, with a laptop on it.
"Remember anything?" Mom asked.
"No, I'm sorry." I whispered, wanting so bad to know.
"Aiden! Since the maid hasn't washed my clothes for two whole months, I'm going to need new clothes!" The little girl shouted, barging into my room.
"What's your name?" I asked, staring into familiar blue eyes, they looked like mine.
"My name is your majesty." She smiled widely.
"Amy." My mom warned, "Aiden can't remember anything right now, so be nice."
"Well he should remember the five hundred dollars he owes me." She smiled widely, holding her hand out.
"Amy. Go to your room." My mom scolded her, pointing out the door.
"Fine!" She huffed, stomping away. She did that a lot.
"Do I really owe her that much money?"
"No, Aiden, she's messing with you." Mom laughed.
"Why did she call me Ace?" I stared at the trashcan on the floor. My maid, Summer, probably felt horrible seeing all that. I must've been a jerk.
"It's a nickname, since you used to play baseball." She smiled.
"Oh. Why'd I stop?"
"You wanted to focus more on work," she looked at me. "Anyway, I have to go, Summer will come by the house tomorrow, you two will meet at school if she doesn't. Anyway, there are pictures on your laptop if you wanted to see them. Sleep well dear." Mom smiled, hugging me and kissing my cheek.
"Where are you going?"
"I have to get back to your dad in England, I've been here for the past two weeks." She smiled, "I'm glad you're awake. I love you." She smiled, walking out of the room and down the stairs.
I heard the door shut. It was just me and this room.
I want to remember who I was, what I did, why Summer seemed so worried, everything was so confusing.
I scanned the room, it was getting dark. My feet led me to the laptop on the desk.
I looked at it for a second. It was hard to believe that this was how my life was.
I was spoiled rotten, but I didn't have the heart to be grateful. What a jerk I was.
My fingers searched eagerly through the files on the laptop. A picture of me wearing a baseball cap, carrying Amy with a wide smile on my face popped up.
Maybe that little girl wasn't so bad.
Another picture of me with the baseball team popped up, I looked so much younger than I did now.
We all had a slice of pizza in our hands, holding it up as one of the guys held up a trophy.
Our team must've been good.
I smiled at the pictures of the guy I shared a face with. Looking at myself in the pictures didn't help, it only brought more frustration that I couldn't remember anything.
Another picture came, with a redhead guy who looked like me staring at the camera. It seemed to have been taken in the garden. The guy, Adam, my twin, had a queasy look on his face as he thumb pointed casually to something behind him.
I squinted my eyes to see more clearly. It looked like I was in the background, wearing a black shirt and red shorts, kissing the daylights out of some random blonde girl.
I turned to the next picture. It was of me, standing coolly without a shirt. I was in a dark place with minimal flashing lights. The Luzerne maybe. There was a crowd of partly nude girls behind me.
I didn't recognize myself anymore. How could I be so. . .disgusting.
I stared at the at picture for a while before the next picture popped up.
It was one taken outside a car. A face that looked like Summer's was staring at me. I had my hand on her cheek.
My heart began racing just looking at it.
It looked like we were about to kiss. And she'd said there was nothing between us. I scoffed
I shut off my laptop and stood up, changing into sweatpants and a shirt and resting on the bed.
Why did she tell me she and I had nothing. She made me doubt my senses.
I need to ask her why.
Chapter 22: Typical
Summer Gray
There's a time when the stars align and everything seems like it's going perfectly.
Now is not that time.
I walked into the school, grabbing onto Aiden's arm as though it were the only thing to live for.
Everyone sent looks our way. I shrugged them away.
We began walking to the cafeteria, I wanted so bad for him to remember, but instead he began smiling at random people.
"Hey Aiden," a random girl winked at him, trailing her fingers across his chest.
"Hi?" He smirked, "is she my girlfriend?" He whispered.
Anger boiled in my bones.
I wanted to yell at him. You're freaking gorgeous and you let girls into your body, no she's not your flipping girlfriend. She's a stripper you idiot! I wanted to say, to shake him until he remembered.
"No." I said, clenching my fist.
"Where the hell?! What are you doing with him?!" Ryder approached me.
We stood in the middle of the hallway, a large crowd gathering around us. "You miss school for two months, hell you even missed homecoming, and now you show up with this moron?!" He shouted.
"Who are you calling a moron!" Aiden yelled sharply, my heart melting for some strange reason. I looked at him as he stood in front of me protectively.
I remembered months ago when the tables had been turned and Ryder was the one holding me like this. These two were always fighting.
"Shut up." Ryder commanded, a bit afraid to get near Aiden. The last time he'd said something like that he'd ended up with a bloody nose, a black eye, and a cut on his jaw. "Summer, I'd really like to fucking know what the hell you're doing with him!"
"Nothing. Trying to make him remember his school. He has amnesia!" I shouted as the whole crowd went silent. The hoards of girls ready to get their hands on him and corrupt him.
"That doesn't give you any reason to not reply to any of my fucking texts! Or why you stood me up. You fucking won homecoming queen, but you weren't there and I had to dance with Laura!" He shouted.
"I'm sorry?" I asked, having trouble registering the thought in my mind, Laura wasn't that bad as far as I knew.
"Yeah. Sorry is right." He stared at the crowd as it began to disperse. Aiden stood beside m
e silently. "Look Summer, babe, I love you, but the way you've been acting. . ."
"Ryder, I think we should break up." I blurted out, cutting him off.
"What?" He stared at me like he'd just gotten his heart crushed.
"We. . .we're incompatible and I just. . .Ryder, you cheated on me. I. . .can't trust you." I took long pauses, staring at him.
"But you can trust him?" He scoffed gesturing to Aiden, "he spends all his time fucking random girls, and you trust him more than me?!" He hissed, his voice rising. I stared at him.
"Yeah." I breathed, feeling a weight fall off my shoulders, "I'm sorry Ryder. I. . .don't have feelings for you anymore." I whispered quietly as he walked up to me and pushed me, I landed on the ground.
"I never liked you anyway. Damn bitch! This is all your fault!" He turned his angry eyes to Aiden's confused face. He began walking near him. I stood up, slapping him across the face.
He looked at me for a second.
"We're telling everyone I dumped you." He said sharply. I stood my ground, waiting for him to leave. He turned on his heel, I felt a hand on the small of my back and my knees buckle.
"Are you okay Summer?" Aiden whispered.
"I'm so sick of hearing that question. I'm fine." I whispered quietly, walking away quickly to my first class.
I rushed down the hallway. Biting the inside of my cheek in case tears began erupting.
"Summer wait!" Aiden shouted across the hallway. I turned around as he caught up with me. "I don't know where my first class is." I laughed, that sounded like something he would say.
"Actually Aiden, I'm leaving. I thought I could handle today, but I know I won't be ready until next week." I said, "you have english, down the hall second left." I began walking away. I'd just gotten publicly humiliated by my cheating ex. And I'd humiliated him as well. I felt disgusted.
"Summer, let me come with you. So you can, jog my memory?"
"No." I whispered.
"I'm coming." Same old commanding Aiden, except it wasn't. It was like the old Aiden had died and been replaced with this new polite guy that felt strangely different to me.
I silently walked to the parking lot. Maybe I'd take Aiden to the woods where my car had broken down, or make him ride the roller coaster at the amusement park, or maybe take him to the beach.
