Journey to Love Page 7

by Susan Thomas

Eventually college re-opened and her grandparents had to let her go but she promised she would join the extended family for the almost ritual Sunday get-together. Kathy was longing to tell Stacey her news but Stacey didn't have the same mad reaction to Kathy's news as she had to the courting news. She cried.

Kathy was horrified and when she finally got Stacey to stop crying she asked her, "Aren't you happy for me?"

"Of course I am. It's wonderful news. That's why I'm crying. It's the most wonderful thing I ever heard."

  ---oOo---

After Christmas, Kathy became increasingly worried about Olivia. She was convinced that her cousin was lying to her parents a lot of the time and claiming to be with her and the other college girls when she was in fact with Adam. She had seen Adam on the odd occasion with other different girls and he seemed to have dominance over them all. She was now convinced he was intent on seducing Olivia, separating her from her family and friends and then pimping her out. Quite why he hadn't been able to complete that plan she wasn't sure, but probably it was how little time he got with her combined perhaps with Olivia's background which was still protecting her.

One Saturday morning she was due to meet Olivia at the mall. They were going to do some shopping and then meet Stacey and some of the other girls for the cinema. Kathy arrived early and was just hanging around waiting when she saw Olivia's mother drop her off also very early. She watched, expecting her cousin to come to the meeting point but after waving goodbye to her mother she stood and watched until her mother's car was out of sight and then hurried off in another direction altogether.

Kathy chased after Olivia on foot. The girl kept running on oblivious to the fact that Kathy was following. Kathy just about kept her in sight. Soon they entered an area that really didn't look very good. There was a railway line with a lot of litter scattered on either side, some shabby one story industrial buildings with graffiti on the walls, a trailer park that to Kathy looked more like a refugee camp in a third world country, and a row of unpleasant looking shops with steel shutters pulled down and large men hanging around by the doors. Kathy wasn't impressed but she had no choice, she was frightened for Olivia. Adam's spell was strong and Kathy felt that whatever game he was playing with her was reaching fruition. Then suddenly Olivia wasn't in sight. Kathy stopped dead. Where had she gone? She hunted around but became aware of a group of men looking at her with not very friendly looks, and decided that she had better quit and hoped the girl turned up again before she had to tell her parents. She began walking back the way she had come.

A car pulled up alongside and Kathy went tense, but the voice that called out "Kathy?" was Jack's voice, but to her dismay he wasn't pleased. She had no desire to explain about Olivia. The Duvals went to a different church and whatever Olivia was doing it really wasn't Jack's business.

  "Kathy, get in."

She got in, wondering what she could say to explain her presence in this area. She noticed that Jack didn't seem very happy.

"What are you doing wandering around here? It is most unsafe."

  "Well you are around here."

"Kathy!" Jack sounded very stern indeed. "That is not a proper answer."

"I was just exploring that's all." She felt ashamed of the lie but couldn't tell him the truth without betraying Olivia's confidence. "But you are around here aren't you."

Jack sighed at this. "That is entirely different. I can look after myself and I was on official church business. I was making a pastoral visit to an elderly member of the congregation who lives in the trailer park. Besides I am in my car. Where is yours?"

  "At the mall."

"The mall! You walked this way on your own! That is incredibly foolish and you have been very fortunate indeed that you weren't accosted. You are never to walk or even drive around this area again."

Kathy bridled. "Oh indeed. That sounds like a command."

"I thought we were courting or making that journey toward marriage."

  "Yes we are."

"Then you have a responsibility to me just as I have to you. I know just how dangerous it is to walk around here and you do not, so it is my responsibility to see that you do not put yourself in danger, and you have a responsibility to do as I ask."

Put that way it didn't sound unreasonable, but Kathy wasn't sure she could keep to that especially not as Olivia had something going on around here. So she just said "OK". She thought that OK can mean pretty much what you want it to, and her OK was just agreeing he did have a responsibility. It didn't hold her to obeying him.

He dropped her at the mall and she went to a café and had a coffee and suddenly Olivia was there looking guilty.

"Oh I am sorry Kathy, I was a bit late and somehow missed you. Er... I've been wandering around looking for you."

Kathy didn't know how to take this. Olivia had been gone over an hour. What had she been doing? What game was Adam playing with her? Olivia was technically an adult so would it be right to tell her parents or grandparents that she was up to something? Kathy just didn't know what to do for the best. Then they wandered the shops like normal girls, Kathy buying some underwear and Olivia a top and afterwards met with the other girls for the cinema. Kathy paid no attention to the movie, she was worrying about Olivia who she felt was rapidly becoming a problem of major proportions.

It was only the following Saturday that Kathy, who quite literally had got holes in all her tights (she corrected herself to the local name pantyhose), made a quick trip into town to get more. She spotted Olivia in her mother's car driving into the area that Jack had told her to avoid and wondered if Olivia had permission to drive it. Surely she wouldn't take it without permission again, not after the last time. But why was she in that area? The answer was clearly Adam - but what could she do about it? She didn't even know where Olivia had gone when she followed her and even if she went there what could she actually do? She just carried on then met Samantha Anderton, Martin's wife and her aunt-in-law, and ended up talking to her for a while before continuing with her mission. She was in a shop looking for the best value for money when she got a call on her phone. It was Olivia.

Her cousin sounded almost hysterical but certainly very distressed and kept pleading, "Help me."

Kathy kept very calm and her voice strong and even. "What do you want me to do Olivia?"

"Come and get me, please come and get me. Don't tell anyone." Even getting that information took some coaxing.

"Where are you?" Kathy was certain it would be in that horrible area and indeed that turned out to be the case.

"Back of the factory. Back of the factory."

  "By the railway lines?"

  "Yes, please."

"I will Olivia, but which one?"

  "Big drums outside..."

"On my way. I'm coming, just hold tight."

Kathy pushed the tights back on the shelf and hurled out of the shop and ran as fast as she could back to her car. She knew which factory it was. There was one which she thought made or stored solvents and it had large empty drums outside waiting for collection. To her it looked like the only one that might actually be doing honest business. She was lucky not to be pulled over she drove so fast, straight into the 'dangerous' area and screeched to a halt outside the factory. She went right round to the back. It was piled high with pallets and drums, some wrapped in plastic, and was generally a mess.

  "Olivia," she called softly.

Her cousin appeared from behind a pile of pallets and Kathy gasped with shock. Olivia was barefoot, her skirt was on the wrong way around and was caught up at the back showing that she had no underwear. Her blouse was buttoned incorrectly and she had no bra. Her arms were bruised and scratched, her lips swollen and one bleeding slightly. She had been crying and mascara ran down her face which was blotchy. Kathy assumed she had been raped.

She put out her hands to her and helped her into the car.

  "Take me home, please."

"No I'm taking you to the hospital."

  "Don't tell Mom and Dad."

Kathy ignored that. She had every intention of telling Olivia's parents, but first things first. She took her to ER. One look at her and Olivia was whisked off into a cubicle with a woman doctor and a nurse. Olivia insisted Kathy came with her so she stood holding Olivia's hand while the doctor asked her questions. Olivia insisted that it was consensual sex that was too rough and got out of hand. No one believed her and neither did the woman police officer who arrived a little later. However, her cousin was legally an adult and refused point blank to name anyone and refused to make any complaint so the officer left after giving her a card and asking her to rethink. Kathy guessed it was shame that made Olivia refuse.

Samples were taken to test for diseases, a morning after pill (which the doctor called something else) and some pain killers were given, then the doctor pronounced that with just a few simple stitches she would be OK. There was damage but it would heal with no lasting effects. Kathy sighed with relief. She felt responsible for all of this. It was then that Olivia revealed her mother's car was still where she had left it. Kathy thought that it wouldn't be for much longer if she didn't get it.

  "Have you got the key?"

It was in Olivia's skirt pocket so Kathy left the doctor to do the stitching and hurried out of the hospital. She felt she had no choice but to go on foot and ran-walked the whole way. To have the car stolen on top of everything else seemed terrible to her. She slowed down when she got to the rough area and making herself look angry, strode quickly along looking no one in the face. It took her a while to find the car and she was beginning to attract attention which was making her nervous when finally she spotted it. She got in and locked the doors. It took her a moment or two to familiarise herself with the controls and then she screeched out of there and drove quickly back to the hospital. As she drove it occurred to her that she had neither insurance nor permission to drive the vehicle. She groaned at all the stupid things she was doing.

The doctor wanted Olivia to stay in overnight but the girl refused and begged Kathy just to take her home. The doctor shrugged, promising the test results as soon as they were available and Kathy took Olivia home in her own car leaving the other one in the hospital car lot.

Tom and Sarah Duval were horrified. While Sarah gave Olivia a bath and put her to bed Kathy explained to Tom what had been happening.

"I'm sure she has been lying to you and I have been trying to keep an eye on her but she was very deceptive. I haven't known what to do. Even if I told you, and I wasn't sure I had the right as she is an adult, she might well just have lied about it anyway. I followed her once into that area but I lost her and Jack spotted me and told me off. I've been worried sick to be honest."

Tom was very understanding indeed and agreed that Kathy had done the best she could and in the end rescued her. He said she wasn't to worry about Sarah's car, he'd pick it up later, and pointed out that at least the Adam issue was now dead as there was no way Olivia would go back to him now.

  ---oOo---

Kathy felt tired. It was already lunchtime and she had only gone out to get herself new tights or pantyhose and she hadn't even got those yet. Suddenly her phone rang and it was Jack.

"Kathy I need to see you urgently. Can you come to my office right now?"

She sighed. "I'll be there in an hour, Jack. Sorry can't be any sooner," she said as she hung up.

Kathy went back to the mall and bought her tights then got herself some coffee and a sandwich before driving to the church. There was no one there but the door to the offices was open and she walked down the corridor to Jack's office. She went in without knocking. He was working on something but looked up and seemed very stern indeed.

"Sit down Kathy," he said, sounding rather like the headmaster of her old school when he was displeased. She plonked herself down wondering what this was all about.

"I'd like an explanation for why I saw you wandering around near those factories this morning in the very area I warned you about. I specifically asked you not to go there and you agreed."

Kathy wasn't bad tempered in nature but she could get on what her mother had called her 'high horse', whenever she felt something wasn't fair. Then her hackles rose and she became very uncooperative. This was such an occasion.

"No I didn't, I said OK by which I meant I heard what you said and agreed you had a duty to warn me."

"Kathy..." Jack sounded not just stern but as if he was becoming angry with her.

"Well I did and as for what I was doing I am sorry but it isn't your business. It's a private matter."

"We are courting Kathy and I have every right both to ask you and expect a proper explanation. You know perfectly well I told you not to walk or drive around that area again. I tried to stop and go back to you but when I got back I couldn't see you. Where did you go and what were you doing?"

Kathy's mind was racing, she guessed that was when she had gone back for Sarah's car and of course by the time he got back she was in that car and heading away out of the area. He wouldn't have realised it was her driving even if he saw it. Well she wasn't going to tell him that, it wasn't his business.

  "I can't tell you Jack."

"Very well you leave me no option. You disobeyed my very reasonable ban on going there and you won't explain why." He got up and walked around to her. "Stand up Kathy."

Surprised, and unsure what he intended, she stood up. To her greater surprise, he sat down on the chair she had vacated.

"Now place yourself over my knee."

Kathy was shocked. She had come to know that there was more corporal correction used here than she had ever encountered back home. She even knew that in quite a few marriages around here wives were sometime spanked by their husbands. Stacey's mum was one and she strongly suspected that Sarah Duval was too. She understood now that it wasn't abuse but just like the spankings that Stacey and Olivia got occasionally, simply corrective - if you believed in that way of life of course. She'd even taken a spanking herself, mainly because she had felt bad about letting the church down by being so aggressive with the guest speaker, but this...this was different. She accepted that Jack was the boss in their relationship but they had never talked about corporal correction and she wasn't sure about that at all. Now she was firmly on her high horse.

  "No I won't."

Jack said nothing but with speed seized her and effortlessly lifted her up and onto his lap face down so that she was staring at the floor. Kathy screamed at him to stop and that he had no right to do this. He said nothing but lifted her skirt and laid it on her back. Now she fought but he grabbed her free arm and locked one leg over both of hers and she found herself utterly helpless.

"I am going to spank you Kathy. You disobeyed me and put yourself in danger. I have asked you for an explanation but you have defied me, quite rudely I may add, and refused an explanation. Even now you are trying to fight me on this and in my book you thoroughly deserve a sound spanking which is just what you are going to get."

He brought his hand down on her panty-clad bottom with a sharp smack. Kathy yelped and tried to kick but her legs were held firmly.

"Stop that, stop it, do you hear?"

"I hear and no I won't." His hand smacked down hard again on her bottom. "Your behaviour has been disgraceful, Kathy." He was feeling really quite angry with her and also worried by her presence in that area so he smacked her bottom hard again making her yelp yet again. He was annoyed she was struggling so much. What had got into her? She had taken the last spanking so well when really their guest had been controversial and deserved much of her ire. Well if she was going to be like that it would just make her spanking harder and Jack set to with a will.

His hand smacked down hard again and again making her bottom bounce and the harder he spanked her the more she struggled and protested, so he carried right on spanking her. Even though she had panties and pantyhose on Jack could see the red spreading. He slowed her spanking down and with each smack he told her off.

&n
bsp; Smack! "You are never to put yourself in danger like that again, Kathy." Smack! "I was worried about you. It is a nasty area especially for a girl." Smack!

He carried on with those hard individual smacks accompanied by scolding until suddenly Kathy burst into tears. He sighed with relief and took her tears as a sign of repentance so stopped spanking and helped her up. Jack expected that now he would pull her onto his lap and she would cry while he comforted her, and then she would explain what she had been doing and why she had put herself at risk like that. He even began to help her onto his lap but when she put her two feet firmly on the floor, she screamed, "You had no right to do that," and pushed him on his chest so hard the chair tipped backwards and he was catapulted onto the floor. When he struggled to his feet she was already out of the room and the door slamming shut behind her.

Kathy ran down the corridor and out into the car park. As she screamed out of the car park practically on two wheels she saw in her mirror Jack standing helplessly watching her go. Kathy slowed her speed down. Her bottom was hot and stinging much as it had after her last spanking, but she felt very different about it. She was boiling inside at being spanked without her consent. She thought that even if she agreed in future that he could spank her she hadn't yet done so and he had no right to do it. She had done nothing wrong whatsoever. Who did he think he was? The smarting bottom wasn't that bad, it was the principle of the thing. Well the courting was at an end. She would never go back to that church again.
