“I told you, I’m not saying,” Elizabeth insisted.
Sarah, chuckling, reached behind Rhoda and touched Elizabeth’s arm. “I take it you had a gut talk?”
“Jah. Unfortunately, he’s still in his Rumschpringe. I mean, I’m thinking about getting baptized, but he’s clearly not ready for baptism yet.” Elizabeth’s tone carried disappointment.
“Don’t worry, you’re still young, and so is your friend,” Sarah offered. “Give it time.” She remembered her own baptism, a month after Jacob’s. The thrill she had felt that they would be starting their life together … maybe not right away, but soon. In Gott’s timing. Within a few months, that hope had been dashed. As much as she wished she had more faith, Sarah wondered about Gott's timing. About his plan. How could blindness be a part of a perfect plan? She sighed.
