Chapter Seven
Jasper sat on his couch thinking about Hailey. She had shown up to tell him about her reconciling with Matthew, almost as if she was rubbing it in his face. He shook his head and walked over to make a drink.
Jasper had never seen Hailey in something so sexy and form-fitting, besides the award show and the charity event. It seemed like she had changed overnight. He wondered if his eyes had bugged out of his head when he had answered the door.
He was going to ask her about the dinner with Matthew, he had promised himself. He wasn’t going to be cold toward her or yell or anything like that. Even if she was with Matthew, she was still the best option to manage his public image. But she came to him so vulnerable and called his name in almost a coquettish way, like she couldn’t wait to tell him about her and Matthew.
He had lost his cool the second he opened the door. Why had she looked so broken after he told her to leave? She hadn’t known it was because he couldn’t take seeing her so happy with Matthew. He had been so surprised at her screaming at him; he had hurried out of the shower and almost burst out of the bathroom naked, remembering at the last moment to grab a towel. Now he regretted being so mean to her. It wasn’t her fault he’d been such an asshole about his feelings. About everything.
He was so stuck in his own head that he didn’t hear the phone ringing across the room. Hailey’s name flashed across the screen and he answered it too late. He quickly dialed back.
“I’m outside, come down here.” Hailey demanded; she sounded like she had been crying.
She was going to tell him off some more, and he was going to let her. He deserved public humiliation, and he hoped she didn’t hold back.
Jasper made his way out of the hotel. Hailey was standing on the sidewalk. Her body language was tense, fists balled at her sides. He readied himself for it, vaguely aware they had an audience.
“I want to know why you were so callous with me. I don’t deserve it, Jasper.” her voice cracked. “I’m a strong woman and I’m not going to let you keep hurting me like this.”
“Hurting you?” Jasper half-screamed, drawing glances from passers-by. “You’re the one back with Matthew after I wrote a song clearly letting you and the whole world know how I felt about you. I came to Big Deal to tell you I broke up with Autumn and your receptionist said you were at dinner with him.” Him felt like sand in his mouth, he couldn’t even say the words without spitting them out hatefully. It wasn’t fair to her, or Matthew, but he couldn’t control his anger.
“Back with Mat—”
“Imagine my surprise when I go to Marco’s to see for myself and I see you laughing and touching him like there is no place in the world you would rather be.” He was pacing now, throwing his hands around. He felt like Jerry McGuire when he quit and threw his briefcase around, but there was no stopping him now.
Hailey looked surprised, then she laughed at him. He hadn’t expected her to laugh. This was not a good feeling; he should have stayed in his room despite wanting to let her have her moment.
“I am not with and will never be with Matthew again. We are just friends. I asked him to dinner to deal with your sex tape. The one that Tara threatened you about releasing. There is a count down on her website to when she will release it and a huge outcry of fans on all of your social media right now in case you haven’t noticed. I went to him for you! For your career!”
Jasper’s body visually softened as he let it all sink in. They were both screaming at each other for nothing. He straightened up and met her eyes meaningfully. “Do you love me?”
Hailey giggled with tears in her eyes, “Yes, you idiot, that’s why I came here. It’s what I wanted to tell you before you went insane.”
Jasper grabbed her up right there on the street and kissed her deeply. It was everything he wanted. He had known it when he saw her stumble into the booth when they met. He had known it when he wrote her the song. He had known it all along. She was soft and sweet against his body and he tore himself away long enough to pull her upstairs. Once they were in the elevator, he pushed her up against the wall and ran his hands through her hair while he kissed her deeply again.
It was all he could do to keep from taking her outside his room. She let him press her up against the side of the elevator and run his hands under her shirt. He’d wanted her for so long it was almost surreal that it was finally happening. He brought his lips to hers, hungrily delving his tongue into the depths of her sweet mouth. She made little moaning sounds that had him hard and going out of his mind.
A giggle stopped him. He glanced over to see the maid standing outside a room with her cart. She wasn’t looking away from the scene despite the flush in her cheeks.
“Come on, baby,” Jasper said, and pulled Hailey to his room and inside.
***
It was everything she’d wanted for so long, happening all at once. He was into her, he was kissing her, and they were going to have sex. It was a long time coming and her body was on fire. Heat built in Hailey’s stomach and pushed down into her sex. She throbbed in between her legs and longed for him to touch her there.
They made their way through his hotel room toward the bed, knocking things off as they frantically undressed each other. She removed his shirt and ran her hands over his smooth chest. He lifted her, and she wrapped her legs around him as they made it into the bedroom. As he moved, his hardness was against her stomach and the fire between her legs blazed hotter.
He sat her on the edge of the bed and yanked off her shirt, taking her breasts in his hand and massaging them through her bra as he teased her with his tongue. He pushed his tongue in her mouth and squeezed her breasts in time with his tongue’s probing. Her skin responded to his touch and tingles spread all over her body. Each probe of his tongue felt like he was striking a bell in the middle of her body that rang all over. He undid her bra and put his mouth directly on the swollen globes. Her nipples stretched up as she arched her back to get closer to his hot mouth. He took one inside his mouth and sucked it hard; she gasped and he ran the tongue once around the nipple before doing the same to the other. Once he put his mouth on her neck and pressed his chest against her breast the weight of him had wetness spreading between her legs. She hugged him tighter against her and brought her hips up.
Standing, he undressed completely letting her see every bit of his amazing body. He was more than ready for her and she wiggled excitedly on the bed. His erection sprang up and hit his stomach. She forced her mouth to close, unable to believe he was that turned on for her. He bent back down over her body and pulled her skirt off. He leaned over her again and his hard member slid up her leg.
His lips drug up her stomach slowly as he made his way back to her breasts. He opened his mouth wide and licked the tops of them. Sensations raced through her. She wanted him deep inside her. A moan escaped her lips, and she moved her fingers into his hair.
“Do you want me, Little Bird?” His accent was heavier, his voice was full of desire.
All she could do was nod. He stood and took her underwear off. With the last stitch of clothing between them now removed, he stood above the bed and took her in.
She was completely exposed, all her curves, but the way he looked at her he only saw beauty. He held himself up and pushed into her, melting their bodies together as he claimed her mouth. The pressure in her stomach was incredible. She was so turned on it surprised her she didn’t come that minute. She was right where she needed to be.
Jasper quickened his speed and grabbed onto her hair. He used it to pull her head to the side and bit into her neck before licking the spot and bringing his mouth back to hers. It was so intense she felt like her body might explode with pleasure. She met his thrusts, slamming her hips into his and scratching her nails down his back. The roller coaster took her higher and higher and she cried out for her release with his name on her lips. Finally, they went over the top together and both moaned loudly as they released together. Her whole body shook, and she looked
up into his face as his eyes closed tightly with the power of his orgasm. Tears were in her eyes as he kissed her tenderly and rolled beside her nestling, her into his shoulder. Her body was deliciously exhausted and she let sleep take her under listening to his soft breathing.

Jasper woke up with Hailey in his arms. He was over the moon she’d stayed with him. Last night had been amazing, and he didn’t want her to leave.
She stretched and woke up slowly.
“Morning,” she said softly, as he leaned in and kissed her.
“Morning beautiful.”
“I need to brush my teeth.” She giggled keeping her mouth closed.
“No you don’t.” He wrapped his arms around her waist and nuzzled into her neck.
“Okay it’s time for me to go home and get ready for work.” She smiled.
He wanted to keep her with him as long as possible. “You don’t really have to go do you?”
“Yes, there’s a lot to do and I have to tell Bill we’re seeing each other.” A look came over her face he couldn’t quite decipher. “We are seeing each other, aren’t we?”
“I love you, silly girl, yes, we are seeing a lot of each other.” He moved forward and kissed her again.
She beamed at him and his heart beat with love. It was strange how much one night could change everything. They got up and got dressed. He watched her as she pulled everything on, not wanting to miss a second of seeing her gorgeous body.
He walked her outside where Carl was waiting. He caught the gleam in the old man’s eyes. Returning Carl’s gaze, a knowing grin erupted on his driver’s face.
She was on her phone looking at social media as always. He tried peering over her shoulder and she moved the phone playfully. He grabbed her and planted a kiss on her neck. It had been a while since he had such a carefree feeling.
“Jasper, look!”
Hailey turned her phone around to show him someone had taken pictures of her going into his building the night before. Not only that, there was a picture someone had taken in the hallway. He hadn’t even seen anyone in the hallway.
“Wow, they are quick, I didn’t even see anyone. It’s not a big deal, Hailey.”
“Well, one I’m going to lose my job before I can go in and tell Bill I’ve decided to drop you as my client so we can be together. Two, they’re going to be calling me a trollop.”
“Little Bird, no one says trollop anymore, let me take care of it.” Jasper couldn’t help but smile as he looked at the pictures of the two of them together. It would be a whole new life for him. She could even go on tour with him and keep his feet on the ground.
“Okay, if you say so,” she said.
“Once you tell him, it will be okay for you to be my date at the Media and Magic Awards next Tuesday.”
“Media and Magic?”
“That’s just what they call it because the award is a wizard holding a microphone. It’s a strange event, but a big deal to win considering the judges. You’ll get really dressed up, the whole glamourous thing. You in?” Jasper wasn’t sure she would actually go, considering she really liked her privacy.
“Yes, of course I’ll go with you.” She kissed him softly and then got into the car.
He watched until he couldn’t see it anymore then danced back up to his room.

“Carl, do you mind stopping up here for coffee, I need some caffeine?”
Hailey couldn’t wipe the smile off her face. She needed a latte before talking to Bill if he was even back. She was waiting in line when she heard her name called out by a voice she didn’t recognize. A small lady in very tall purple pumps approached her with her hand outstretched.
“Hailey Finch?” she repeated. “Regina Plum. I’m so happy to meet you. This is an amazing twist of fate we’re in the same place!”
“It is?” Hailey scanned her memory but didn’t know who she was.
“Sorry, I seem like a crazy person right now. I own Just Plum PR, have you heard of it?”
Hailey was shocked, she did know who this was. They had some of the biggest clients in the area. “Yes, I know Plum, how wonderful!”
“Well, I want to offer you a spot with us. I’ve seen how you’ve handled Jasper Daly and Kaira Simms. We think you’ll be a great addition to Plum.” She smiled and moved forward, handing the barista a card. “Get what you want.”
Hailey was too stunned to do anything but order. Was this happening? She was going to be taken seriously as a PR agent. It was going to be her dream come true to work for Plum, then she thought about her clients.
“I can’t leave my clients.”
“You can bring them with you if they want. They aren’t contracted to Big Deal, they’re contracted to you. I know Bill and I know the contract. You won’t be taking anything away from him, they will have a choice. We’d love to have Jasper and Kaira, but it’s their choice.”
Hailey thought about it. She wouldn’t be representing Jasper anymore. It would be a conflict of interest, but they could work all that out later. It was a huge opportunity and one she didn’t think she would get for a long time. “Can I think about it?”
“Of course, here’s my card. I’ll catch you soon. So glad I ran into you, Hailey.” With that, the little lady was gone and Hailey had a big decision to make.
When she walked into Big Deal, Bill was sitting across from Bernadette talking to her.
“Bill, I need to talk to you in private, welcome back,” Hailey said.
“You can talk to me in front of Bernadette,” he said, “I want her to know everything that’s going on in the office.”
“Okay, well I just want you to know, Jasper and I have decided to date.”
Bernadette let out a loud squeal and put the back of her hand to her mouth. Hailey couldn’t tell if she was horrified or excited.
“So you’ll be giving him up as a client then?” Bill asked
“Yes, to Matthew, but there’s something else I need to tell you as well.”
“Oh really?” Bill looked at her with interest now. Something told her he wasn’t shocked she was dating Jasper.
“Yes, I was offered a job with Just Plum PR.”
“You were? Regina must have her people out scavenging again. You have to be careful with the offers they put out there, they go after everyone they can find.”
“No, Regina herself offered me the job, Bill. I have some thinking to do because I don’t want to lose my clients.”
“Regina offered you the job?” he said. “She’s just trying to get under my skin and take my help. She doesn’t really want you, you don’t have enough experience,” he added.
Something hot burned beneath Hailey’s skin and her face started to tingle. She walked closer to where Bill was sitting. How could he have openly insulted her like that? As hard as she had worked for him she thought she would have gotten his respect by now, but it seemed that wasn’t the case.
“You can consider this my two weeks’ notice. I will be going to work for Regina Plum.” With that, Hailey walked into her office and slammed the door, prouder of herself than she’d been in a while.
Chapter Eight
“You look stunning. You’re going to blow all the actresses out of the water.” Kaira said.
Tuesday had arrived very fast and there had been a lot of preparation, like finding a dress and getting it altered. It was going to be a whole different world trying to keep up with seeing Jasper, but she was happy.
Hailey flicked her gaze over to Kaira, as a makeup artist ran a huge fluffy brush over her face.
“Hold still,” he barked.
Kaira was perfect as always. She was the epitome of a movie star. Her makeup was flawless, her long blonde hair was up in intricate braids on top of her head, and she was wearing a purple gown that hugged her body perfectly. The fact that she was telling Hailey she was going to blow everyone away was laughable.
“Done.” The makeup artist sprayed something all over her face without wa
rning.
Once she finished coughing, she looked up. It was amazing. She did look good. Kaira had insisted she use her stylist, hair, and makeup team when she learned Hailey would be attending.
She went over to a full-length mirror and gasped. Her blue dress hugged her full hips in a way that made them stand out in a good way. She didn’t feel frumpy, or like hiding her figure, for the first time in she couldn’t remember how long.
The clothes she’d been wearing had given her confidence but they still subtly hid parts of her with a high-waisted skirt or flowy top. She felt good in it and didn’t mind it showed a little cleavage.
“Come, come.” Kaira walked up interrupted. “Let’s have champagne before your date comes to get you.”
“There’s someone who wants to meet you when Jasper gets here. He’s a huge fan. He watched your witch show or whatever.”
Kaira had broken up with whoever she’d been dating. She was secretive about it so Hailey had no clue who it could have been. She seemed happy to be alone though. The extra ticket she’d given to Hailey had Peter’s name on it. He’d been so happy he’d spun her around in the office.
“Ah, a true fan. Is he cute?”
Hailey had never thought of him that way. He was tall and lanky. He was nice, and she supposed he could be put into the cute category.
“Yes,” she said it more like a question.
“Okay, I’ll see for myself.”
There was a knock on the door and suddenly Hailey was nervous.
“You ladies decent?” Jasper was walking in even as he said it. He stopped. “Wow.”
“You like it?”
He walked over and pulled her close. Whispering in her ear, he squeezed her ass. “Let’s skip the awards.”
She giggled and her cheeks warmed. Peter stood outside the door and cleared his throat loudly.
“Sorry, Kaira, this is Pete,” Hailey said waving him in.
The actress walked up to him and hugged him. “I hear you’re a fan of my wizard character. What was your favorite episode?” She led him out, and he stuttered trying to answer. Some of the more famous actresses were given rooms to get ready in at the hotel where the awards show was held. It was a gorgeous, old hotel and one of the largest places in the area.
